What are some goal treats I can give myself when i reach my mini goals?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm trying to set a guideline of things I can give myself as treats when I reach each mini goal. I need several small mini goals to help me stay motivated. I want some treats (like clothes not food) to reward myself each step of the way. What are some things I will need to buy when I'm 20lbs and 30lbs lighter. (like a new bra and panties)? Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and what they treated themselves with. Any Idea's?

i hate the idea of buying cute panties that i won't be able to wear in 20 more pounds.  same for shoes!!

for myself, the perfect reward for anything i accomplish, whether it be related to my weight, or doing a good job at work, whatever it may be is ...

A PROFESSIONAL MASSAGE!!

how many things can you think of that are TOTALLY decadent and self-indulgent, but still healthy and not fattening?

or buy yourself a CD, or get an awesome new haircut or color ... there are lots of non-food rewards you can find that will make you feel treated!

After losing 23lbs and 2 bra sizes 40dd to 36dd a bra was a necessity so over the holidays with all the sales going on l bought really cute bras as a reward. And my husband loves them too, actually he said he was wondering when l was going to get rid off the old bras but never said anything.

sallen l love massages too, l think of them as something l do as part of taking care of myself. l go to the massage school and get them cheaper than if done by professionals. Maybe after l reach my goal weight l will go all out and spend a weekend at the spa and get the works.

Some articles of clothing will still fit with mild weight fluctuations, like wrap dresses, they are the best and look good on most body types. You could also buy something you'll shrink into. Also if you are more modest you can try thrift type stores a lot of time they will have some items never even worn, and if you shrink out if you can always give it away or sell back to a thrift store.

I dont have much weight that Im trying to lose, but when I have a really good week of working out and sticking to my diet, I will go out and get myself a new nail colour or give myself a relaxing hour by slathering on a facial mask and giving myself a long soak in the tub.

Your mini goals are serious victories, which is awesome! Maybe you could go and get a manicure? Even if you dont have acrylic nails put on, its really nice to have a full on professional manicure-or pedi for that matter. How about having a new hair cut or color done? If you are going to be losing 30 pounds, I imagine that the way your face looks will change, so maybe getting new hair style would compliment it! New bras and panties are always nice also. OOh! A girls night? Or a special dinner or a party at your house? No one would have to know that it was in celebration of your 30 lb loss, but it would be a reason to dress up a little and look cute! Now a million ideas are popping into my head for you...Good luck!

I liked buying health-related items:  like a new scale, a food scale, a heart-rate monitor, a new workout DVD, new crosstrainers.  I think it was because when I was starting out, I was afraid I would fail, so I didn't want to invest in all these health-realted items only to give up 2 weeks in and have them all sitting on the shelf, gathering dust and reminding me what a failure I am...but I DIDN'T fail, and when I lots x amount of weight, it was like I was saying, "Okay, I'm really in this for the long haul...now I can invest in a new workout outfit because I know I'm going to use it!!"

Of course, I also bought cute new outfits every time I got the chance, but I called that "neccessity."

Thank you for all the suggestions... I like the manicure and massage idea. I actually bought a new scale today cuz my old one changes depending on where it is sitting in the bathroom. I find my self moving all over the house trying to get the lowest number. LOL I'm definitely not to modest to shop at a thrift store. I'll give that one a try also. I'm actually pleased with my hair style for the time being. I finally got it to grow out. I told my husband about my goals and treats I'm planning for my self and he thought it was an awesome idea. I don't know if I could pull a reward party off just yet. Just the thought of it makes me want to eat chips and dip. So the party thing will have to come much later when I have better control over my cravings. but still a good idea.

Thank you for all the idea's and if you have any more please share.

A couple more ideas:  healthy, low-calorie food that you normally won't buy because it is too expensive.  I also like any skincare or make-up because you are looking so much better thinner, it's fun to even add to your newfound beauty.  I only buy clothes in this situation if they are at the thrift store, because they might be too big later if I am still dieting.

I absolutely love rewarding myself with a new pair of jeans. Something about dropping a whole size in a pair of jeans is so rewarding to me.

Not sure if you work out, but I also love buying a new piece of workout gear (so expensive!!!). Like a new sports bra or running leggings or a nikefit piece of apparel.  It makes me feel good to look better and better in the workout clothes, motivates me to workout more and I know Im working out in some high quality stuff!

I also bought myself a new pair of sneakers after I maintained for 2 months :)

I try not to use food as rewards because then I start dreaming about them and its crave central.  Although a big sundae or italian meal in the bronx is sometimes called for. Good luck!

Oh I like the make-up idea and new exercise clothes. That's a good one. I look bad in my baggy sweat pants and bag t-shirts. I'm gonna move that up on my list. thanks

Decent work-out clothes are a necessity and a treat.  You will be surprised at how much better you feel about your workout when you have proper fitting clothes!  (Plus no embarresment... Yes, I did almost lose my pants on the treadmill one dayEmbarassed)  Good Luck!

A manicure or pedicure or if you're on a budget a new shade of nail polish.  A spa day or again, if you're on a budget a pamper yourself day with a bubble bath.  If you're a reader, a new book.  A new piece of workout gear, etc.

I usually reward myself with buying a new book (I'm a bookworm, haha) or work out gear, like others suggested, just don't do it so you'll feel obligated to work out. I also love going to concerts/shows, and its a big motivator for me when I have a concert on my reward list.  Taking a personal day from work with your husband is a good idea, too. Or perhaps a new tank top? Like a baby doll tanktop or one with an empire waist; They still look flattering even if you lost a lot around your midsection since the time you bought it.

If its a bigger goal, then reward yourself with an extravagant trip out of state, or maybe a new tattoo or piercing (if you're into that, anyway).

Good luck! ((:

I'd reward myself with sexy clothes or panties. :D They keep me motivated.

Those are some great idea's. I wasnt' expecting so many to respond. Thank you!

I think that there are some positives to buying new clothes. If you lose a size or two, smaller clothes will help you to feel good about your success, while your old baggy clothes don't do anything for you! Consignment shops are nice, if you think your new size is only temporary (since you will probably get smaller). My workout partner and I set a goal and are getting new track suits just Wal-Mart or Target, not pricey) to repalce our old sweats when we get to the first mini-goal.

some things on my mini goals and rewards include some cute nail polish, lipstick, eyeliner, a scarf, a new workout dvd, a book, or asking my husband to surprise me with a persent!

I buy nice jewelry, belts, handbags or hit the sales racks at Kohl's. You can find really good tops at Kohl's for under $10 by going through the sales racks. This way you won't feel like you wasted your money when the article of clothing becomes too big. I found 3 shirts last week and paid less than $15 bucks total.

i love the lingere idea. i think i may just have to do that!
