My goal weight date keeps advancing
I'm pretty carful to stick to my 1200 calorie diet, i eat good food, drink lots of water and i'm going to start yoga classes soon.
In spite of all this the date for me reaching my goal weight advances everyday! first it was september 9th now it's the 26th!! ![]()
Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?
the CC goal date is based strictly on the progress you're making, via the numbers you enter into the weight log. pay no attention. when i dropped below my goal weight, the stupid thing was still giving me a goal date a week in the future.
btw, you're much better off to eat more and add activity than to try to stick to 1200. there's no doubt that you'll lose weight on 1200, but you'll probably find it much harder to maintain once you get there, because you won't have learned to eat in a sustainable way.
Have you updated your weight? Your goal weight is calculated by assuming (regardless of your actual intake or burn levels) that you will lose a pound a week. If you are 5lb from your goal weight, your goal date will be 5 weeks from today. If you have 30lb to go, the goal date will be 30 weeks from today.
Also, remember that 1200 is the utter minimum that you should be eating (1500 if you are under 21). Most women need more than 1200, especially if you are active.
edit: Apparently I'm a slow typer :)
And if my goal weight hasen't changed? Should i update it anyways? I'm not losing one pound a week at all
i've lost nothing yet, it's kinda frustrating!!
Not your goal weight- you'd change your current weight.
But if you haven't started losing weight yet, then there is nothing to change.
Do you mind sharing your stats? Age, weight, height, activity
Yeah i meant current weight ![]()
I'm 18 , i weigh 118, i'm 5' annnnd i don't do much physical activity but i'm working on it :D
see amethyst's post #2. you need to eat more.
Since you're still under 21, you need to eat more than 1200 calories/day. At least 1500 to make sure that your body has enough energy and nutrients to finish growing (not just the visible stuff like getting taller, but also the invisible stuff like neurons in your brain making connections). Because you're already at a healthy weight, weight loss will be slow for you. 1 pound a week is unlikely - but half a pound a week would be totally reasonable. That means you get to ignore the silly "when you'll reach your goal weight" date which is wrong for everyone except those losing exactly 1 pound every week.
Will that actually make me lose weight? With physical activity of course...
Ohh okay thanks Susiecue!
PLEASE listen to the other users... You really DO need to eat more!!
Imagine your body as a furnace... It NEEDS fuel (calories) to burn fuel.
I cringe whenever I hear ANYONE say they're sticking to a 1200 calorie a day diet... I don't think that's enough calories for anyone, unless they're bed-ridden. And it's certainly not enough for someone who's body is still growing.
Good luck, hon and be healthy!
I origionally researched and found that I should be eating about 1500-1600 calories a day until I joined cc and it suggested I eat 1200. I thought that sounded wrong but I kept hearing others that were doing the same thing. I don't mind increasing with the right foods, but I really am getting full just on the 1200. I thought about incorporating a protein bar pre-work out and a protein shake post workout since those are both pretty high in calories and good carbs/proteins. Any suggestions? Sorry to deviate from the origional post!
You def want to have the 1500-1600 over the 1200 cals!
I RARELY have trouble meeting my cal needs (I shoot for 2000-2200 as maintenance I'm 5'8, 145, 28yo f), but if I do find I'm just not hungry one day, then I add a protein shake, protein bar, or eat a lot of nuts and peanut butter! I LOOOOVE pb! It's fatty, but they are good fats and you get protein, so that's a plus. Sometimes I'll even just have a few turkey sausage links or slices of bacon, things like that!
Just a note to the original poster.....try upping the cals and adding exercise. Def eat more, you really do need the calories! The very lowest I went when really trying to lose (I'm maintaining now, I love where I am!) was 1400-1500 cals a day!
