Goals for Today & Did you accomplish them?
Thanks so much,
Tammy
1) Post in the morning what your goals for the day are.
2) Post in the evening or the next day, if you reached your goals for the day.
Reason: released as a featured sticky thread after a few days. Updated #2 for OP :)
Hi ladies! It's been a while I know :( I didn't make goals yesterday 'cause it was my birthday and I would've broken them all anyway :D
So here are my goals for the weekend, rather than just today, to make up for lack of them yesterday:
cardio at least 2x.
Yoga at least 2x.
Take a day off from weights.
Keep calorie count under 1450 to make up for last night!
Congrats on everyone for meeting your goals from the past couple of days! And good luck for today and the rest of the weekend!
Happy friday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I hope you had a great day yesterday. What did you do for your special day? I would of broken my goals too on my birthday. Good luck with the goals for the weekend. :) Am glad you stopped back in. :)
tammy
thanks mrs_yooper it has improved a lot!
Ohio45 do you have any tips on how I can incorporate more protein into my diet? I don't really like meat that much, my evening meals tend to be vegetarian Indian meals, unless I have a weight-watchers meal - which most of the time is either penne with tomato sauce and chicken or veggie lasagne.
also, my dietitian said that flatbreads are the best ones to have so the pitta and chapatis are fine. Not too sure about the cereal though lol what do you suggest for healthy carbs?
and Happy belated Birthday robyneg! =) hope it was a good one
Thanks girls! :) It was fun, nothing special except for going out to dinner with my parents. But my dad gave me an iPod shuffle for working out :P so I'm really excited! No more having to stuff my big iPod down my sports bra so I can listen to music...changing the song got kind of awkward ::reaches hand into bra to push "next" button::
sasha if you are really not getting enough protein, you can try protein shakes! I drink Optimum Nutrition whey (though they suggest that women drink soy, but you can drink when if you want), and it has 24 g protein and 120 cal per 8 oz serving. The double chocolate is really good ("gold standard" is the marketing name) and you just mix a scoop with water or milk. Tasty!
Eat 70 grams of protein Ride my bike 60 minutes Do 20 situps
Glad the fair was fun and that you did so well with the food Tammy. Although I love to walk, I can't really run. I mean I could, but the dog wouldn't last long since she is 10. And I can't imagine going out without her, unless I'm on my bike.
I have a Giant mountain bike that I bot in 1989. I've had it tuned up several times since then and got a new tire last year. I love my bike, it has 21 speeds and is just right for me. I don't think I would like a bike with skinny tires. Cruisers are cool though.
Good luck with your goals today everyone,
Laura

I did 75 minutes out on the bike net of two stops. I also made myself do those situps because I had committed myself this morning. See?? It works. Great idea mrs_yooper!
Thanks for the links, I've had a look at one already.
All the best to my fellow calorie-counters...
what kind of seat do you all have on your bikes? years ago a 'banana' seat was popular, but it hit some bones on my backside and hurt and my hubby put a regular size seat on that was more comfortable. I don't even know whats on the market now.
EDIT: I would think with my big rear, that bones would be cushioned by fat, but no........
My goals for today are:
Ride bike for 45 minutes (without stopping anywhere)
Walk for 45 minutes
Eat 35 grams of fibre
Eat 75 grams of protein
Do 20 situps
Laura
Figure if you are going 10 miles, that is 5 miles out and 5 back, so you wouldn't be that far out.... Just a thought. Also you can get that repair kit, or maybe that foam in a can?? Not sure. The bike shop people usually know everything.
I wish I had some country to ride through here. But it's ok, I have adapted and it's great. Good luck with it and with the knee.
figurethefat don't you hate when things come up that you don't expect to and then it is hard to get the goals done. I never realized how hard it can be to get our goals done until i started posting them each day. Does anyone agree with me? figure, you did awesome with the bike ride and stuff. that is great. Thanks for saying this is a great idea. i am glad you like it. :)
Ohio45 I hope you do get a bike, i find it so much fun and addicting. I am so happy with my bike. I am so proud of myself too, i never thought i would enjoy it so much. :) I too never had to worry about a flat "knock on wood" but you carrying a patch kit would be a great idea and like Laura said if you go a total of 10 miles that is 5 one way then you will just get a much better work out, that is one way of looking at it. Cause you won't be far from home. My seat is a wide one and I am going to go buy a gel cushion for it to make it more comfortable. I do love my bike. goodness you all are going to get sick of me saying that. lol. sorry :)
Laura I never even thought about carrying a id with me, I will start doing that as you never know what will happen. I do carry my phone and some money incase i need water or something, who knows maybe i will pass an awesome rummage sale and just have to have something there. lol :) Your "poor" little kid hey. Thank goodness he is young to be able to do that right? that is cute. You lived in Australia hey? that is awesome. I would love to go there, it looks so beautiful.
By the way where is everyone from?
Me I am from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, in Gladstone.
My goals for today are:
drink 100 oz water
ride my bike for an hour or more
walk my dog
go to town and buy a journal and a neat pen
Good Luck everyone with your goals today!
I rode the bike for 60 minutes total, I had to stop after 15 to yak with my mom, but I did get in 45 minutes straight afterwards which was great.
Ate 50 grams of fibre. Lots of veggies, legumes, whole grains.
I ate a boatload of protein today. 92 grams, I can't believe it myself, but I did it, lots of yogurt, cottage cheese, beans, tofu, veggie turkey and whole grain breads.
Walked 25 minutes this morning and another 20 this evening, total 2 miles.
And just did the situps--that won't be a goal tomorrow, I need a break.
Congrats on meeting your goals ohio45. BTW the "bones on my backside" were uncomfortable for the first 5 or 6 weeks I was riding. I kept wondering when that initial discomfort would go away, I really only noticed it the first 10 minutes of the ride. Finally it was gone. I just have the standard seat that come on my bike.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend and meeting their goals. And thanks for all the kinds words.
Laura
Better World Club is an alternative to AAA and they offer to pick you up if you have any problems on your bike. They are trying to encourage people to ride instead of driving because it's better for the environment. But, I'm not sure how well developed the service is, especially out in the country, so it would probably be good to ask them if you're interested. http://www.betterworldclub.com/competition/aa a_chart.htm
Besides that, some bike stores will teach you how to replace your tire tube. I haven't learned yet. I watched someone else do it and it looked difficult to get the tube on. I should try to learn though.
I'm thinking about buying a new bike too. I have two coworkers who are really into riding. Their advice was to make sure the bike shop employees spend some time fitting the bike to you. I started reading about it on the internet, and there are a lot of details involved in fitting it well. My coworkers said the brand doesn't matter that much.
Some of the types of bikes are a mountain bike, which has the fattest tires; a hybrid, which has medium tires; and a road bike, which has skinny tires and tends to cost more. Road bikes are the fastest on pavement because there is less resistance from the tires. Mountain bikes are good if you go off road because the fat tires give you traction on dirt or gravel. Hybrids are inbetween. I think a hybrid could be good to start with because you can get one less expensively than a road bike and you can use it for gravel paths or pavement. But it depends what you want. There are other kinds of bikes, like the cruiser Tammy has too.
Well, that was a kind of long answer to the bicycle questions.
Tammy, I don't usually do much of anything artistic. So this exchange will give me a chance to try something. I'm looking forward to it. When should our goal date be? Middle of September?
Congratulations to everyone on keeping their goals and continuing to post!
I didn't succeed much at all with my goals for Friday. I got up to around 1700 calories and no exercise. I was going to bicycle with my bfriend, but it rained. He doesn't go to my gym, so I didn't think I should leave him and go there. And I have to work later on Friday and had some errands to do after work, so ran out of time. Oh well.
Today is better. It was a beautiful day and I went hiking. I probably had around 1500 net calories. I'm not sure if the hiking calorie calculator I found is reliable, but good enough I guess.
Tomorrow is supposed to be nice again, so bfriend and I are planning to bicycle again.
Eat 70 grams of protein
Eat 40 grams of fibre
Bike for 45 minutes nonstop
Walk for 45 minutes
I'm glad so many people on this thread are excited about biking! I love my bkie too Tammy. I always wear my helmet. I think baskets are awesome, sometimes I see people with little dogs in their baskets, so cute--I'd have to get one of those stoller attachments to bring my dog along! I do carry a backpack and use it to carry small amounts of groceries. I don't wear gloves, but I wish I had been when I slipped on some slime the other day and smashed into the asphalt, oww!
pepper654--the hiking sounds great. I'm jealous, I wish I had someone to go hiking with!
How much fibre should I eat per day?
In the US, the Daily Reference Intakes for fiber are: 25 grams for women 19 - 50 21 grams for women 51 - 70+ 38 grams for men 19 - 50 30 grams for men 51 -... Read more
