GOD......whats ppls beliefs....
okay...now i dont want to offend anyone or anything like that this merely a post out of curiosity....
do ppl believe? or not believe?
for me i dont believe in god. for me i think its all about hope. it gives ppl somewhere to turn....the bible if im correct was written years after jesus existed yes?......so u want me to believe everything in there to be true and correct....i think its a bad case of chinese whispers...a book based on what he told her that she told him that that other guy told that guy...
eg. if i told a friend an exciting story.....an she told someone else then that someone else told someone else...etc.....10 yrs later the story is still doing the rounds......do you think it will resemble my story?....absolutely not......
anyway just wondered what other ppl thought....
I whole-heartedly believe in God and Christ.
However....
I believe the bible to be "inspired writing". I do believe it is the victim of prejudice and bad translation. I also think it reflects the times it was written in and what might have been "right" for then isn't now. Some sections are more true than others. If it doesn't set well in my gut (conscience-God), I throw it out.
I believe in the spirit of the law, not the letter of the law.

I believe "God" is an energy source. The same source that apparently has existed before time began, protons and neutrons are "God". I don't see "God" as a person or being but matter in which all life is created. Earth isn't the only planet with life, something causes life to begin, whatever THAT is, is "God".
You don't need to worship it, or do right by it, it isn't alive or conscious.
I am not atheist or christian, I don't believe in the bible as I don't believe in any other mythology book, though some of their stories are interesting. I don't believe in heaven or hell, I don't really believe in souls. I like to BELIEVE people and animals have souls, but deep down I know we/they do not. When we die, we die. When an animal dies, it dies. When a plant dies, it dies.
I also believe all life is equal. I do not think I am above, for example, a plant. It is just as much apart of this planet as I am. And just as important.
From another thread.

I am god.
I believe in God and I'm a Christian. I just ignore posts that bother me because arguing on the Internet is like special olympics, even if you win you're still retarded.
:P
Besides, everybodies opinion regarding religion doesn't affect where I'm going or what I believe so why should I let it bother me? I don't understand the people that get really up in arms over posts about the stuff.....as I've actually seen today on this forum, lol.

Of course I mean it, however, I'm referring to how people are reacting to each other in some other threads. I find it silly. :P
This thread doesn't bother me at all, nor does anything in the other one. I'm just commenting on what I've been reading. A bystander, if you will. XD
right got ya.....
jus saying here so far noone has challenged neone yet...all just saying what they believe.......which is basically what i wanted to know.....
Blah... just search the forums for religion/god/jesus etc if you want to find what everyone thinks about this. There are 657,343,091 threads on religion already... and counting.

What if it had cookies in it but they looked like chocolate chip, only those chips ain't chocolate.....
That would be worse, because then you might take a bite before you realized something was wrong.
.......just saying.

That is Hell, my friend.
Turd chips! Win!
I believe that over-using ellipses has just become my new forum pet peeve : )
I'm agnostic (plus a smidge). The smidge being that I believe there is something, but don't know what, nor do I really care.
Though do hold on the arrogant belief that if it turns out there is a heaven, I'll be in it.
If not, bring some lawn chairs to hell. I'll bring beer.
I believe in an higher being, I believe in God and the power of love an dI believe that there si life after death.
I think that what many people describe as a god is a euphamism for "I don't know".
In the same vein as old nautical maps which sported phrases like "Here there be Dragons" when going beyond the limits of known waters.
When we don't know something, we try to fill the void with our imaginations. Enough people imagining the same thing, and tah dah, you have a god.
I like to imagine the Flying Spaghetti Monster. His noodly appendage fills me with the warmth of spicy pesto.
I do leave it open ended though... some higher order form of life descends with a host of angels all achorus and proclaims lordship o'er the land, I'd probably believe. Proof doesn't deny faith... proof buttresses faith.
I'm a staunch agnostic. I was raised Catholic, and I studied theology in college. I find religion absolutely fascinating. However, I believe none of it. Most religions are based on faith because there hasn't been proof that God actually exists. The idea that an ultimate being would expect us to believe in him without proof (and in some cases get punished for not believing) is kind of ridiculous to me. Why would faith be so important to an ultimate being???? I know people might squabble with me about the no proof idea, but I have not been convinced that God exists with what has been presented to me.
As for atheists, I say that it takes just as much faith to believe with 100% certainty that God doesn't exist as to say that God does exist. As one of my theology teachers rightly said, "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence".
So, I am square in the middle. I have no idea if God exists. From my years of study (studying theology was not only my minor in college, it is also a hobby), this is where I have landed. I feel comfortable here.
I do belive in God.
I also believe to each his own; no person is made more or less valuable than the beliefs that they hold closest to them.
