What goes good on a bean burger?
I went to a pub near my town and they had the best bean burgers, and fell in love with bean burgers. so I finally got around to making some on my own.
Searched online for this...didnt find much...found only recipes for the burgers themselves.
What do you like to top bean burgers with??? Mayonaisse??
Try some tzakatki! It's a savory sauce made with greek yogurt, garlic, and olive oil - it's kind of maynoaisy but much tastier. This health restaurant near me serves chickpea burgers with tzakatki and it's one of my favorite dinners :)
Homemade hommus or tahini!
Hummus - definitely. Trader Joe's has a roasted chipotle hummus that goes great with spicy black bean burgers.
What spices are in the recipe?
Good burger toppings: pineapple + BBQ sauce, laughing cow cheese + pesto, hummus, salsa, mashed avocado, mashed pumpkin + cranberry sauce, ketchup, honey mustard, marinara sauce + low fat cheese, tzatziki, fresh mozzarella + tomato slices, salad, thousand island dressing, roast vegetables...anything goes!
Tzatziki, roast or grilled portobello mushrooms, beetroot, rocket, lettuce, tomato, tomato relish, cheese...
I have some chipotle bean burgers that I bought at Costco, and I love to make a little salad out of cucumber chunks, garlic salt, and fat free sour cream. I cut up the cucumber, put the garlic salt on, and let it sit in the firdge while the oven is preheating and while my bean burger is baking in the oven. Right before its to come out of the oven, drain off the cucumbers (there will be water that's come out of them), put a bit of the fat free sour cream in, stir around. If you feel it isnt garlicy enough, you can add a bit more garlic salt to taste. I like to put a bit of the cucumber salad on the spoon and eat a bite of the burger with it. It's LOVELY. I completely forgo the bun since it's not a part of a burger I particularly enjoy and I try to not consume things I know I am not going to enjoy, it's unecessary calories to me.
Mmmmm I love guacamole and lettuce on mine! Sometimes even mustard... haha

I've tried it this way a few times, using the burger as the bun, and it really makes it so much more interesting to think of things to put IN the burger instead of on... think of it as a handheld salad :)
I always put salsa on mine. Yumm
Mushrooms, spicy jack, chili flakes, sprouts. I make everything I eat impossibly spicy, though, so you might want to opt out of the chili flakes.
