Report for December 22, 2007.

Okay this is report for today NOT including 4 fish(salmon) strips that I ate. I couldn'e find anything remotely similar when I searched it so I had to leave it out. I'm sure they added calories, protein and fat. These strips aren't store bought, so no nutrition facts. They were priority mailed to me from Alaska, where they were made. As in catch the fish, cut it, hang the strips in the smokehouse and then put em in ziplocs..... The best yummy kind!

(Just an FYI, I grew up in Alaska. My parents are missionaries there in a very small town of about 200-300 people that is off the road system. You have to fly in. It's a native village, so hence the fish strips. I grew up eating lots of salmon and moose. Very little beef and pork and chicken. All that stuff had to be airfreighted into our community, so very expensive. My dad shot a moose every year, so there you go. Anyways they moved there when I was 8 and I left when I graduated high school. We lived in CA before that. I've gone and visited a few times since, because my parents are still there. Oh and I can totally relate to RG on working out in the cold. Back in highschool when I was ALOT thinner I would run 4 miles in the morning. As long as it wasn't any colder than -15 I would be out there. Any colder than that and I would just have to wear too much clothes and breathing through a face mask would just still be a little too cold for my lungs.)

Wow, that turned into a book.

No workout today. Burn meter at 2,070. I probably have somewhere around a 500 calorie defecit.

DWF, how tall are you??? Your burn meter seems to be so low. I'm 201 lbs and mine says 2,070???

It sure felt like winter here today ... it was cold and grey for much of the day, and then the sun broke through this afternoon and it was just glorious! We got a lot of errands done, and decided to put off our mountain adventure until Monday! (This means we got to hit Trader Joe's and the grocery store for MORE VEGGIES!) I can now happily report that we are nicely restocked with yellowfin tuna steaks, frozen shrimp, vitamin B-12, Thomas' light multigrain english muffins (they were on sale!) and, of course, lots and lots of veggies! Since tonight's dinner is beef and bulgur (one of my favorite combinations), I decided to match it up with four servings of fresh broccoli and two servings of fresh asparagus ... yum! yum! yum!

NUTRITIONAL BREAKDOWN: (12.1% fats / 38.6% protein / 49.3% carbohydrates)

Was kinda bad today but I believe I stayed real close to 1200 calories.  Had a donut from Dunkin Donuts and three small cookies later on plus a turkey sandwich.  The day started off sensible until my DH brought home the extra donuts they had at work.  I thought for a minute about Molly throwing them and considered doing it myself but decided not to.  We almost stopped at a Taco Bell after shopping, thank goodness I felt we were running short on time.

On our way home we passed an accident that I suspect possibly someone got hit trying to cross a very busy divided highway on foot, not sure just know there appeared to be no smashed cars and there was someone on the ground covered up.  We don't know if they were completely covered or not...I pray not.  In view of all that person or what their family is going through tonight, my diet seems insignificant.

Good night all.

We went to a Christmas Party tonight at my DH's sister's house.... and saw both of his sisters, in fact. As I expected, neither mentioned how I looked or my weight loss... which was a bit disappointing since I've lost 67 pounds and it really DOES show.... and they haven't seen me since August (before I started dieting.) I was so careful in picking out what to wear, too (new smaller jeans, new smaller t-shirt, cute holiday vest -- two or three sizes smaller, actually). (sigh)

Oh well. Undecided

I was good and didn't eat or drink anything there except ice water.... I ate dinner before we went so I wouldn't be hungry.

When we left, I was still pretty bummed ... so my wonderful DH took me shopping (coupon in hand) to the JCPenney's Home Store where we got two new bath towels (in a lovely shade of lime green!) for just $1.07 ... after using the $10 off coupon ... they were on sale!!!

Yay, new fluffy lime green towels.  As to in-laws ... Bah, Humbug!

=^..^= MOLLY

4square, you've worked so hard and done so good this last week that you deserve that donut!!! Don't feel bad about it! If anything it'll help you not plateau!

Molly, don't feel bad that your SIL's didn't say anything about your weight loss. I'm sure they noticed, but weren't comfortable saying anything about it. Some people are just like that! Good job at the party!

I want a lime green bath towel!

So far, so good for me today! I'm upping my water to 12 cups, since I finally figured out what people were talking about by saying drink half your weight in water. I was drinking a minimum of 8 before, so I'm not expecting it to be difficult. Only more trips to the potty! :) I've downed 8 cups so far today.
SUNDAY MENU -- SIRLOIN, SPINACH, SQUASH!

Happy December 23rd, people. Today would've been my parents' 47th wedding anniversary. (They both died in 2004, within three months of each other; they were both in their 70s.) I remember that my poor father could never remember if their anniversary was on the 22nd or the 23rd, so he would just start giving my mom cards and presents on the 20th and keep going every day until he hit Christmas ... LOL! Well, he was quite the problem-solver, wasn't he? I think my mom knew that she could just remind him of the ACTUAL date, but didn't. After all, she got a LOT more presents this way! (grin) They were married at Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas (where my mom worked at the time ... she was the executive secretary to the general manager) and my dad was a part-time Sheriff's Deputy and car salesman. My mom was originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and moved to the United States in the 50s, and settled in Las Vegas -- still in its infancy back then, but very much the boom town. My dad was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Los Angeles, and after getting out of the service (he was in the Pacific in WW2, and then a POW in Korea) -- he also moved to Las Vegas. They lived in the same apartment complex and met one day when he spied a painting hanging in her living room through an open door and commented that it was the UGLIEST picture he'd ever seen. (Hee hee hee ... it was! My sister in Las Vegas still has that ugly painting!)

We're getting some things done around the house today ... laundry (of course), assorted pet-care related duties (of course!), filling bird feeders, skimming leaves out of the swimming pool (Autumn still hasn't ended here in central California), and dusting off my tricycle since someone is coming this afternoon in response to the ad I placed on Craigslist to try and sell it. (Well, now that I've "graduated" to my nifty 2-wheeled bike, it seems wasteful to have the adult trike just languishing on our back patio. I'd rather see someone else get to use it and enjoy it, and at least recoup PART of our investment in it, ya know?) Then we need to take back some sweat pants to Walmart (too big ... yay!), a snowflake light to Orchard Supply Hardware (too big), and three frames to Aaron Brothers (we found ones we liked better, and cheaper, at Cost Plus.)

Today's menu is filled with healthy veggies!!!

It's ok, 4square!!! This is a 'life-style', not 'diet='s death-style', lol!!! Surprised

We CAN have junk like other folks, unless it is a 'harmful-to-us-medical-no-no'! Just budget around it, calorie-wise and nutrition-wise, to allow for it! 'Forbidden' things cause too much guilt and often cause us to think we can't continue...'cause we can't actually! We have to have some stuff, sometimes! Just be temperate in 'em. (So DON'T go get a whole box!!! Lol!!! SurprisedWink)

Holidays are a 'family & food' time, and always will be, and busy! Healthy foods are hard to find when you are busy and extra hungry- or stressed, as my life has been too much lately. You don't want to be too worried about it. Dances has a good outlook on it all! I just have to learn to live with less over all, 'cause my limit will be 1400 sedentary when I finish- not far from the 1200-1350-on-weight-work-days that I am now! Surprised

I checked on that number with the Nutritionist, and she agreed, lol! No question what I need to do if I don't want to be gaining all my life! Tongue out

Sad about that accident, seems needless... If they were trying to cross and got hit... Frown I shared a song at Church today that was my meditation in 2001, Nov.22-Dec.8. That was when we were mourning with the families who grieved their lost loved ones that Thanksgiving and Christmas of 9-11-2001... The song was about the low estate Christ came here in, but sober sounding, as was fitting in that sad season. It's a song of gratitude, but, like the accident you saw, it reminds me of what others have suffered, including Christ. I, too, am thankful for all the good in my life that doesn't have to be- and could change so fast, as it may have in that accident.

Glad YOU and yours got home safely! The traffic is awful, even here in South Mississippi- and I've seen early Nov. traffic in San Diego, CA...!!! Way too wild for me!!! I'm not sure where everybody here lives yet, but some of you live in CA! I want everybody to survive the traffic they face, and ENJOY their holidays, lol!!! Don't want to lose anybody in the gang... or even any LURKERS!!! Lol!!! Surprised

* Looks around carefully...thinks,"Did I catch any? Maybe they would like to be invited into the gang? Wonder if they know they can join? Do I sound too SCARY for them...??? Maybe they'd rather have Forks invite 'em... They couldn't be scared of anybody as nice as she is!!!  Be fun to have some more folks!!! *

Sorry about the SIL's, Molly! They'll HAVE to notice before long!!! If they miss it now, the shock will be greater when they do notice!!! (Maybe, after they realize they need new glasses, or something!) WinkCool

Good afternoon, everybody... I'm gonna try for a nap!!! Back later with my damage reports...aka nutrition info, lol! Certainly Not so damaging as my other holidays have been, for the majority of 45 years! SurprisedWinkLaughing

* goes off yawning... *

Merry Christmas everybody!!! In case we miss each other!

Say "Happy Birthday," to Brooke for me- I noticed her name simply because we are ALL Brooks's here, lol!!!

I came from a JJ family- James Allen, Jr./JanetX2/Joann, Johnson's...

It gets better...

My father had a large family, 6 boys and one poor girl named Helen...

The father was James Allen Johnson, Sr...

Then my Father, James Allen Johnson, Jr...

Then... The GOOD part...

James Paul/James Rodney/James Robert/James Albert/James Alfred...

My Grandmother promised me she never went to the back porch and yelled "JAMES!" to get 'em all at once for dinner...!!! Wink

It WASN"T so funny when they lived in the same small town, mostly...and mail and bills were incorrectly delivered to "James R. or A. Johnson..." Especially when one got in trouble with the law... and was listed in the paper...!!! The innocent were outraged by the questions THAT caused!!! True story!!! My Grandmother and two sons are all that remain, so there is less trouble to keep sorted out, now... Wink

Which brings me to why I started this story, for I married a Benjamin Brooks...

(Love the name Benjamin, btw!)

We decided to have all BB's... Turned out to be ALL girls...

Sooo... We have Beverly/Becky/Bridget/Brenda and Ben BROOKS, lol!!!

Try saying THAT fast if you're upset!

I'm Mrs. Ben Brooks, and was part of the "4 JJ's", as well!!! SurprisedLaughing

I shared the "James Story" once on the radio, no one else had heard of it...!!! If I seem crazy, it probably started a long way back... so I never hada' chance, lol!!!

I don't usually share too much personal info online, but I thought ya'll might enjoy that, (and there is no credit card info, etc. in it, anyway, lol!!!), and understand better why I loved your lovely daughter's name- the horse was a familiar item here, too! The oldest, who REALLY loves horses, even bought my horse for me- the miniature I 'walk' like you would a pet dog, lol! Surprised

Hope her Birthday is a good one, and all the rest of the Gang's Holiday as well! Laughing

Happy Birthday, Brooke!!

I'm sure you were the 'Best-ess present of all!!!' Laughing

Watch the traffic, everybody!!! Laughing

Well I had a great day going yesterday. I drank like 13 cups of water. (and of course went pee probably twice that amount of times) I had a Grade A and was at about 1350 calories and then I has some salmon strips and was figuring that put me at 1500-1700 calories, which was what I was aiming for.

Then I went to church at 7:30pm. I didn't know we were having a meal afterward. I didn't eat very much, some nuts, 1 cupcake, etc... Anyways I'm sure I was at maintanance or most likely a little over.

So that is how yesterday went.

As for today, I think we're going to a friends house tonight. They're making tamales. I don't think there'll be any dessert, basically just tamales. I really want to have a defecit today, so I'm going to get my cardio in and try to make sure I have lots of calories left over for tonight. I'm going to have to figure out how roughly how many calories tamales have, that way I know how many calories I need to save for them.

Then tomorrow I'm cooking. I'm doing Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, strawberry cheesecake and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

I'm not going to count calories tomorrow, just try to eat sensibly and not go overboard on the cheesecake and ice cream. Have a serving of everything, except the mashed taters because I don't like those. Those are for hubby. Plus his two brothers are supposed to be coming too.

I'm really excited for Christmas! Last year Christmas was kind of weird, because we were in Mexico and they do things alot different down there. My son is 2 and a half now, so he doesn't remember the Christmas we had 2 years ago when he was 6 months.

I've got all the presents hiding in my closet, so he has no clue. My parents bought him a rocking moose (versus a rocking horse) for Christmas. I think  they got it from LL Bean or Lands End. Anyways I have to get it set up and put together tonight after he goes to bed. Then set it out by the tree along with all the other presents. I can't wait to see the way he acts when he wakes up and sees the rocking moose and all the other presents. It's going to be so much fun.

Merry CHRISTmas everyone!!!!

I should have a report from today to post, but I don't know when I'll do it. Either late tonight or sometime tomorrow when I have time.
double posted somehow....

Sounds to me as though you have a GOOD 'Handle on it', lol! Wink

Your 'Coping skills' are developing NICELY!!! Laughing

Enjoy it all! Merry CHRISTmas from South Mississippi! Laughing

(Would LOVE to see a picture of him with his new Moose...!!!)
