Checking out-- yawnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!! Wink

I've been so busy for so long, that my canning-break-to-do-cleaning/organizing has allowed me to feel my tiredness!!! Not through at all-- but good progress! Laughing

Back when can... busy on Sundays, as always... and Gustav looming close to distract, may mean mostly Lurking-- unless power goes out Monday/Tuesday... We'll have generator power, but phone service and DSL is usually out at those times... Contraflow just began-- fresh Weather Channel Bulletin-- which means sections of the highways out of New Orleans/Gulf Coast are switched to North bound traffic entirely...all lanes... Good to see people being serious and moving out! Smile

Good Night, G4G Gang!!! Laughing

Good Night, Dances-or-another-FUN-Name, lol!!!! Wink

OK, everybody....That's it!  Moping is over, time to pull my finger out, stop eating bread and cake and get moving again!!!

As I said, I have been emotionally exhausted - the worst thing about burying my grandfather was that it opened up so many wounds regarding his son (my father).  Unfortunately, my father failed to inherit any of the good character his father was blessed with and has done a great deal of damage to everyone around him.  He did not even come to his own father's funeral!  He has never met my children and I haven't seen him for twenty years.  We were all grateful that he was absent, but still, saying goodbye to my Pop meant that we also mourned for all that his son would never be.

Well, I sure have eaten a lot of cake, chocolate biscuits, had plenty of bread and pasta... I definitely turn to carbs when i emotionally eat!  I also haven't been for a walk for over a fortnight!  Time to give myself a good firm kick up the bum and get back into it all!

2BB - Good luck with GUSTAV!!! Hopefully he doesn't blow your way or too hard!

Jenn - welcome back!

4square- good to hear from you!  I start walking again tomorrow - hopefully you'll get back into it sometime soon.  Hope the home schooling goes well this year.

Rivergirl - hope you enjoyed your wedding day!!!  Hope your marriage is blessed!

Forks - love your home!  I am a frustrated home decorator!!!  I know what I like and I know my budget and i know my family... unfortunately, none of them match!!!  We are currently looking for a new home and I could just scream as hubby and I have totally different views of what a perfect house is!  He likes brick, I like timber!  Give him plain and simple, give me the character of a heritage home or something modern so long as the ceilings are high and there's plenty of natural wood!  He rejects a gorgeous home just because it hasn't got a big shed - I say just build one, but he reckons that this time he wants to just walk into a home and know it needs no work.   Ugggghhh!!!  His current specifications are that it be a brick home, 4 bedrooms or more, modern kitchen and bathroom, room to store 2 cars 2 boats and a trailer, a garden shed and a "man's retreat" being a (preferably brick) 2 bay fully lockable shed/garage with power and water, all on a block no smaller than a half acre and all this for less than A$500000!!!  AAAHHHHH!!!!

KK - welcome back!  Yahoo for a plane flight that was actually enjoyable!!!

Hi Jella

You've got mail :)

Good Morning Gang.

Wondering about 2BB and the others.

Game plan??  Game plan.... hmmm....  Guess I can't say I have one.  What I have been doing really is working... just much more slowly now.  So I guess I will just continue.  With my exercise level, I have to continue eating at maintenance level... or I get lightheaded.  Staying off the soda, plenty of water, fresh fruits and veggies.  Eating 6 times per day.  Exercise 3 days, off 1.  I know I'm getting somewhere... just looking in the mirror.  At this point, I'll take a pound or two.

It is September 1 here.  My weigh in was earlier this weekend.  Didn't show much movement, but I'm not surprised.  I had eaten out several times in the last week...and missed out on exercise.  So, I wouldn't be surprised with some sodium water gain.

I wore a size large golf skirt yesterday... and it wasn't tight.  SOOOO... I'm calling that a victory!!

Yeah VP...whatever your doing is working well!

when I find the time I'll show my schedule or my checklist.

Forks...  Not knowing exactly where 2bb is... I'm not sure how well she's fairing.  Gustav is going his share of damage, but I think for most people won't be as bad as Katrina.  At least that is what I am wishing for in my prayers.  And sadly, out there in the Caribbean is Hanna now.  What a year for storms!

Here is it Tuesday morning.  I had what could best be described as a near break for the last week or so, in particular yesterday.  I should have eaten properly, and I should have exercised, but I did neither.  I had a bum around the house day, sat and watched movies, played on the computer, did cross stitch and ate.  Not good... but honestly, if its once every 6 months, what possible harm could it do?  As long as I'm right back in the healthy habits the next day.

Another learning experience weekend for me.  I continue to return to the same group of people, trying to be friends.  Perhaps I am just a sucker for punishment??  I always walk away sad, because I just don't fit it, and I'm not happy spending time with them.  When will I ever learn to just let it go?  SIGH!

* waving hard, 2beittybitty blows by-- kept our power so far, nearly 2 MILLION people evacuated...!!!! Looking good now...many, many Tornado warnings and watches still, into tomorrow around 4pm, yet... Keeping watch on all reports-- and filling more jars soon with 'Gustav Chicken Gumbo," lol!!! * Tongue outWink

(I'll use a few jars as Birthday gifts to my girls soon, as they helped me buy special pots for my Birthday-- they'll really like that, and I'm happy since I can't do much else.) Tongue out

Cooking sweet potatoes, to can soon so they don't spoil, more colorful peppers ripened and ready to be chopped and frozen, and a few tomatoes to get ready for adding to the Gumbo--- keeping busy! Will be able to enjoy my Birthday pizza tomorrow WITHOUT having to try cooking it on a grill as many do when the power fails... sooooo..... Happy and OK and BUSY!!!! Laughing

It was very bad, very close, very good that it moved fast across the hot Gulf waters and didn't get as bad as absolutely expected... Laughing

I COULD still lose power through trees falling from the continuing winds and rain weakening them, as well as the weakness left by Katrina's damages... Frown

However... if I CAN...! Back later... Laughing

Enjoy your weekend, Gang!!! (IF you have any LEFT, lol!!!) WinkCool

If you have any weekend left????  It's Tuesday here!!!

2BB- So glad to know that Gustav didn't knock down your door!  Still keeping you in my prayers till the weather settles down over there.  Have a wonderful birthday tomorrow!

All right, Forks!  I'm with you in wanting to knuckle under again.

vstar - I'm with you.  I know what works and, yes, it is slow but it works! For me it is all about limiting intake as i am not a great exerciser.  I haven't got my machine yet - I got a speeding ticket (on my birthday) and we all jokingly tore up the sporting catalogue that the kids gave me...

September Goals:

  1. Get into bed before 9.00 (at least 6 nights a week)
  2. Walk every morning (at least 6 mornings a week)
  3. Do some ab/back strength exercises each day
  4. Budget for 1200 cals a day (with one day a week being up to 2000)
  5. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day (limit 1 coffee)
  6. Eat 2 serves of fruit
  7. Have vegetables at two meals, at least 5 varieties
  8. Have 3 meals, 3 snacks every day (a meal must have a protien)
  9. Limit my carbs to 2 serves a day
  10. Think positive - reflect on the journey.

2bb... Glad to hear you're fairing well.  We've all been worried.

Jella...  I do know what works, although right now I sure don't feel like it is.  For me, I love the exercise, although my machine is still getting on my nerves.  I just cannot do the cutting down to 1200 calories.  I'm grouchy and my blood sugar goes all hinky.  I'm at my best at between 1800 and 2100 calories.  I just have to move enough to get a deficit.  My normal exercise, according to CC AND my machine burns 800+ per day, so I think I'm ok.

I miss those days when I'd get on the scale and see 3 pounds down in a week.  I know that's a pipe dream at this point, but boy, it sure did make it easier to keep going!!

So far so Good with 2BB :)

Hi friends, it's RG, or "Mrs. McDaniel," hey I can't get used to it either!  We survived and thrived 180 family and friends for about 6 days milling about town, in and out of the house, eating, and visiting, and dancing, and drinking a few beers.  Thought I'd share an update!  It went very quickly, after 15 months of planning.  I only wish we'd had more time to talk with all the wonderful friends who joined us for the event.

I've posted a couple of photos in my profile, one of Mike and I, daughter Sarah, and her SO and son (did I mention I skipped over motherhood and went straight to "nana"-hood?).  The other photo is of my side of the family, my mom, brother Peter and his wife.

Twas a beautiful day on the Ohio river.  We started out with a bike ride w/ about 16 of us, rode the bike trail for coffee in Loveland (Forksie's neck of the woods, how 'bout that??).  We bought bride and groom jerseys, I also attached a veil onto my helmet.  All the other riders got a big kick out of it.  We rode about 25 miles total, it was a cool, sunny morning.

Got home and found out I started TTOM, ah such is life!  Always knew it was a possibility, but you try and psych these things out and I find that usually doesn't work very well.  Mike and I just had to laff, good thing our wedding trip to Key West doesn't start for another two weeks.  I proceeded to drink about a gallon of water as to appear less "puffy" but what're ya gonna do, just go on with everything!

Fortunately I had the right clothes and high-tech underwear to make the most of my "assets" and everything turned out OK.  The red dress was a big hit.  I painted henna tatoos on my hands and feet, an homage to Buddhism and eastern spirituality, and the hall was decorated very colorfully.  We walked in to "Blackbird," by the Beatles, and shared unity candles lighting with all the guests.  My bro sang "You Are So Beautiful," to wrap up the ceremony.

We danced our wedding dance to "At Last," by Etta James, sung live by our friends, The Sloes, and invited all the married couples on to the dance floor to join us.  Group by group, those married less than 10 years, less than 20, less than 30, less than 40, and less than 50 years left the floor.  Finally, Dot and Elmer Geers remained, married 54 years young.  We presented Dot with a replica of my bouquet, and took a picture of she and Elmer with Mike and I.  Not a dry eye in the place!

The cakes were baked by my yoga teacher, they were incredible, in look and taste (carrot w/ cream cheese).  Mom took one home to her deep freeze and we'll eat it in 363 days for our anniversary.Tongue out

We danced until about 11:30, and made out way back home finally about 1 am.  Sunday the whole fam damily came to our house for brunch.  Everybody left Monday morning and we did nothing but lie around for the rest of the day, oh yeah we watered the garden and washed cars, and gave the animals a bath but now we're back to "real" life.

Love all your lists and goals, my goal is to get back to my diligence and nutrition plan.  More later on that front.  I have a bike race tonight, and one next weekend, that should get me back on track.

Happy September, all.

Mrs. RG

MRS. RG you've got mail
