Here at the Going4Gold Gang it's all about sharing what your doing as an individual then sharing with the rest of the gang.
Everyone is Welcome
i haven't counted calories in a few days, but getting back into it tomorrow. i plan to do some major clean up tonight, and then hitting up the gym tomorrow followed by some shopping.
So... what's the deal with having a cold and craving salty food? I woke up this morning extremely congested and have had a nonstop sinus headache. I took a nap with my vaporizer and one of my "vapo-plugs" (has the smell of the vaporub without having to rub it on you, they're great). Anyway, had a can of chicken noodle soup and a PB2 sandwich for lunch and now I'm having a pizza fit, so the dough is rising as I type. I'm sure I will enjoy it and it will put me over by about 129 cals for the day and I'll be at 1379. Oh well, being sick is an excuse... right?
BTW... Way to show your scale who's boss Molly! I bet it will learn to lie the next time it's TTOM!!
Our scales she be like Mary Poppin's measuring tape, every time we use it it should just say "practically perfect in every way". (Ok, can you tell I have 3 kids??? I'm using Disney analogies!)
OoooOOOooohhh... a pickle sounds good right now. I don't have any though. I should have a jar of them in the fridge for just this sort of day... next time I get out to the store I'm buying some. Thanks for the tip! That would have saved me some cals today for sure!
That's funny about you and your hubby. Mine does the same thing with the flushing, drives me crazy too!!
I'm in a heap following my workout tonight -- we made it around the whole stadium in about an hour, 26 sets of up and down 59 stairs, and jogging across the football field about 20 times. Ambient temp about 40; much colder than last week so a bit of lung butter/exercise induced asthma, but not a concern, it happens to me sometimes.
Hey BB -- what role does exercise play with the "tapering" calories methods you shared in your post? I eat a Luna bar (180 cal) about 30 minutes before a hard workout, then have my meal within 60 minutes following the hard workout; 40 percent protein, 60 percent carbs. That's conventional workout wisdom, but I'm curious about what the nutritionists think. Shoot me a PM if you have some internet sources to read...
I will post the BEETS recipe tomorrow! Yum, beets are tasty, beets are great, beets always make me clean my plate!

Roasted beets with pineapple???
I love pickled beets, never heard of roasted...share your recipe, pleeaaseee?
Any good recipe for baby carrots, anybody???
I must have missed everybody when I begged before!
With all the healthy veggie's among us, I felt sure there was a tested-and-good-tasting method for carrots in somebody's favorites! I hope! I gotta' deal with 'em soon...!!!
I'll report in tomorrow- still working on it now, and too tired, lol!!!
Hope all that typing helps other folks that felt frustrated like me... Some told me of their struggles, and mine were only half as difficult as what they've been through!!! And they are a regular encourager here- fighting their own discouragements privately and not giving up... gulp! I feel humbled my their positive and uncomplaining attitude...! I gotta' tighten up my own positive thinking- their sharing privately has been on my mind for many days now, and I really hope some of that info will help them. They requested the info, and I dreaded all the typing, so I was slow sharing it. Maybe, now that it's all typed in, they'll understand my delay and forgive my tardiness!!!
Sweet dreams, Gang!!
Baby carrots:
2 tsp olive oil
2 tsp molasses
cayenne pepper as desired
salt as desired (I like about 1/2 tsp)
pepper as desired
Mix that really well (it's kinda hard to mix; you might need to use your hand) and rub it all over the carrots. Bake at 350 (in a glass dish or whatever you want) for 20 - 25 minutes, stirring once at halfway. Voila! It's superfine. Use any veggies you like, too. Try adding garlic too.
Hey all, I have been a long time lurker and I have read many many post. I really enjoy all the support that you give each other and the way you keep each other accountable in a way. I have been with CC for 3 months now and the weight loss has been very slow but it is a lifestyle change for me so I got my whole life to lose weight although it would be nice for it all to be gone in 1 1/2 years which would be great. I am a full-time masters student & I am married. No kids. I have a personal trainer that I work out with 20 minutes 4 days a week. I try to eat really healthy but I don't deny myself as long as it's reaonable. I also don't have a calorie limit right now--I just let my body tell me when it is hungry & when I need to stop eating. Right now that is around 1700 calories---Also I don't know if I will post my weigh-ins on here or not--the scale is not friendly to me at all. So here is what I did today:
Exercise: 20 minutes of strength training with a personal trainer, Shopping, Cleaning House
Food: Here is what I have so far (A-) I plan on eating some raspberries and blackberries to get my fiber up there and maybe some other fruit it's only 6:45pm here so I can eat more if I am hungry!

O' and you all can call me boots & I live in the Pacific Northwest! Nice to meet you all! Hope your day went well.....
That carrot recipe sounds delicious! What other kinds of veggies have you fixed it with. I'm very new to eating vegetables (explaining why I'm fat!
) It's not that I don't like them... it's that I don't know what to do with them. I hear people talk about artichokes and radishes and these are all foreign to me. I was literally raised on canned corn and green beans. Boiled carrots now and then and lots of mashed potatoes. I'm slowly venturing out into new things and so far the only veg I've met that I don't like is a brussel sprout! ![]()
I usually eat my carrots raw, but I'll have to try this molasses recipe.
So here is my pathetic sick day with a grade of B+. Crazy sodium today. I ended up going over my cal limit by 430! I only ate 1 orange today and that was it for fruits and veggies. I ate
Kashi Cinnamon Harvest with soy milk, two pieces of whole wheat 45 cal toast, and an orange
chicken noodle soup, PB2 and reduced sugar preserves sandwich, Special K Vanilla crisp bar
4 (yes that is 4) wonderfully delicious slices of homemade pizza with turkey pepperoni. I am stuffed beyond all belief right now but every bite was so good! At 180 per slice this was a huge chunk of the 1680 I ate today. Pray for me that tomorrow I'm feeling better, it's hard to take care of three kids when I can barely stand because of dizziness and sinus pressure. These are the days I really wish he was home already!

Dances! I loved the carrot idea- took me an extra 20 min. and I added onions, bell pepper, and about 6 med. fresh asparagus spears, (from my mother.) I used spray oil and salty seasonings, and it was hard to wait on them to cook when it smelled sooo good! ![]()
Milfred- thanks! Now I'll have a sweet carrot recipe to try! Glad you're here! ![]()
Hello, bootser1! Glad you could join us! All lurkers are welcome, but sharing is more fun! ![]()
Hope you feel better tomorrow, tamleech!!! Sinus and such-like is NO FUN!!!![]()
I thought about you today, rivergrrl, toting stuff up and down my stairs!!! I'd DIE trying to keep up with you!!! ![]()
I'm currently trying to decide if I want to risk ruining tomorrow's weigh in by going up to my gym tonight... I'll gain from water due to muscle recovery needs, as I've not been using my weights lately!
I've been bad there- too many icky days and tom... now I will pay if I go tonight... It's really hard to decide, for I should see a loss tomorrow... Gotta' choose! ![]()

It's fantastic with cubed or sliced beets, broccoli, and onions. Sweet potatoes, but, you know, use them sparingly. They're very caloric compared to the other veggies. Mix 1/2 sliced or cubed sweet potato in with a whole bunch of broccoli and a cubed or sliced beet. WOW!!!!!
Hi guys! I am back and trying to get motivated again. My goal is to eat 1300 cals per day and starting out to do 30 mins of exercise 3 times a week. Usually on Saturdays I do 2 hours of exercise (one Yoga class and one Latin Pump dance class). So that is great but I haven't been getting any more exercise than that - and that is not good!!
So here's to re-motivating!!! I would like to hit my goal weight sometime this year. For now my goal is to be ~155 lbs by my birthday which is January 22. If I can be 155 I will be about 10 / 13 lbs lighter than I was on my last bday :)
Sorry I have been such a slacker. I will try to do better. You are very motivating, especially you forks/Gina!!
xo,
Amy
