Just got back from 20 minute work-out with personal trainer. Did strength training today--very hard but I made i through. I work-out 4 days a week with a personal trainer. 2 days I do cardio and 2 days I do strength training. It's a really intense work-out and they push you to fatigue in that 20 minutes. It's not meant for everyone but I love it.

Snack: 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 2 white cheddar rice cakes

Molly? Guess what?

I bought 2 packages of thomas' light whole grain english muffins today!! I got inspired by you and when I saw the fiber content I thought no wonder she eats them all the time!! :) I will try one later.

I was going to also buy the laughing cow cheese. But I got so fed up with the crowds at the store (even at 10 am) that I had to leave. Maybe tomorrow I will do some additional grocery shopping. Today I only got the new English muffins, soup and oatmeal to supplement the food I already had at home. OH and some pringles. The dreaded front of store displays got me!! lol - I was at Super Target and had already bought all my non-grocery stuff and I was just getting way too fed up and had to get outta there!!! NO patience left for groceries. Even though it's cheaper there I can't stand the crowds.

Wooo hoooo! Someone else tries those yummy muffins! I like mine toasted (as you've probably read over and over and over again ... lol!) And 8g of fiber! You just cannot beat that! (And it means that you should feel fuller, longer ... an added bonus!)   You will also love, I'm sure, the Laughing Cow Light Cheese ... I like the little 7-calorie cubes (Mini Bites) ... but one 35 calorie wedge = 5 cubes, and some stores don't carry the mini cubes. (So we stock up ... we probably have 10 packages in our refrigerator... LOL!)

I think for one of tonight's snacks, I will halve some mini sweet peppers, and plunk a cheese cube in each half, then broil them in the toaster oven with some fresh minced garlic ... won't that be an awesome (and healthy) midnight snack???

Mmmmmmmm.....

Forks, you had mentioned something in an earlier post about maybe starting a thing where you eat protein and fruit at every meal? I'm not sure if that is correct or not. I was doing some reading today on nutrition and it recommended eating protein first thing in the morning & the first thing to eat at each meal. It said that it helps speed up fat burning and metabolism. I just wanted to see if this was something you were talking about....

Ok I understand the burning meter concept thanks Amy and Molly!

Booster: I think I said something about the protein and fruit in meals. A school trainer told me I should eat protein first thing in every meal so sugar isn't stored as energy right away. I don't know if there's anything more to it but eating egg which is a good source of protein may be some of the good things we do for ourselves during meals.

Man I feel like cooking something like cookies or granola bars but not exactly those foods... any good healthy baking desserts out there?

See you guys next year,

hananabanana

I eat protein and carbs with every meal. My snacks may or may not be just carbs, depending entirely on my blood sugar levels. (For example, I was low this afternoon, so I had an apple all by itself!)

DECEMBER NUTRITION REPORT

Well, I've compiled my December Nutrition Report, and overall I'd have to say that I'm pretty happy with it. First off, I can proudly say that I've gotten an "A" Grade for every single day for the past three full months, woo hoo! OK, here's how everything breaks down for the month of December 2007 ...

AVERAGE DAILY CALORIES ............ 1431 (supposed to be 1500 or less!)

AVERAGE DAILY CHOLESTEROL ...... 197mg (supposed to be under 200!)

AVERAGE DAILY FIBER ...................... 58 grams (I try to keep it over 40g!!!)

CALORIES FROM FAT .......................... 13.1% (supposed to be 15% or less)

CALORIES FROM PROTEIN .................. 36.9% (supposed to be about 35%)

CALORIES FROM CARBOHYDRATES ....50.0% (WOO HOO! Hit the mark exactly!!!!)

And, of course, my December Report wouldn't be complete without mentioning I was on vacation for three days, as well as including a recap of how my weekly weigh-ins and weight loss went for the month of December, right?

DECEMBER 01 ................. 312.6

DECEMBER 08 ..................307.4

TUESDAY MENU ... BACK TO BASICS!

I wanted to be sure and choose my menu wisely for Tuesday, January 1, 2008 ... after all, it sort of sets the tone for the rest of the week, the rest of the month, and the rest of the year! We went grocery shopping on Monday, so (once again) my fridge is well-stocked with all sorts of fresh veggies! Of course, the funny thing is that -- once again -- I'm out of radishes! hee hee hee. My wonderful DH (who graciously and helpfully cleans, preps and slices my radishes a lot of the time) has remarked that I nibble on radishes like some sort of happy, overgrown bunny!

My dinner for Tuesday is simple ... oven-roasted skinless chicken, half a cinnamon-roasted acorn squash, 12 ounces of fresh spinach, a toasted Thomas' light multigrain english muffin, and 7 almonds. (Why the almonds? They are filling, yummy, and loaded with healthy fats!) Lunch is yummy egg white egg salad on a toasted english muffin, 4 servings of spinach-mustard greens - turnip greens - collard greens, 5 cubes of Laughing Cow Light Gourmet Cheese bites, and a crisp n' crunchy apple for just a taste of sweetness! This gives me 10 servings of veggies for lunch and dinner ... but don't worry ... my evening snacks these days (not listed here) often include a cucumber as well as radishes (so I will probably end the day with over a dozen servings of fruits and veggies!)

We've been cold and foggy here in central California, but now we're slated to see a LOT of cold and rain for the next 5-6 days or so ... so it will be cold and SOGGY instead of cold and FOGGY! I think I will be thinking of some yummy, comforting cold-weather recipes for the rest of the week ... which will DEFINITELY include soup! One of these days, I may even switch from my normal breakfast and ... gasp! ... have oatmeal!!!

The wind has been whipping around for about 8 hours -- ai yi yi -- we had a swell party, delicious food, and wonderful friends. I had one glass of pink champagne at midnight, to toast our friend Randy beating cancer this year. Sometimes you need that moment! 'ya would have thought we were teenagers, everyone stayed around talking and laughing until 2 AM. I cleaned the kitchen and finally tucked myself in about 2:30 so we're just barely moving right now after 9:30.

I thought of 4SQ and her lock-in; bet she'll be getting some naps today for sure. It's cold but we're going to meet some bicycle club friends and get the new year started right with a jaunt down the trail -- I like the idea of setting the tone for the new year myself...

Report for December 31, 2007.

This report is not including the following.... We went to a friends house and had lamb and corn tortillas. I'm sure with that I was at around 1500-1700 calories. So I should have had at least a 300 calorie defecit. The lamb would have upped the protein and fat and tortillas, carbs/fiber, etc...

Before that, I was at 1,112 calories. Grade A.

I'm feeling better today. Still just a little stuffy with a slight sinus headache, so I'll be back to working out tomorrow.

Hi everyone.

The lock-in was a huge success lastnight.  Every other year we have had a bad attitude problem with at least one teen but lastnight was perfect.  We had fun all night long and stayed up for all of it except for 20 minutes close to the end around 7:10 a.m.  We finally got home around 9:00 a.m. and after figuring out my mom's diet for the day got to bed around 9:30 and woke up at 2:30 p.m.  I have 975 calories planned for the rest of today.  I ate 3 clementines, light potato chips, 1 protein shake and one cupcake lastnight.  I only ate the cupcake because it was my DH's b-day and wanted to be supportive (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it).  I think that my calories should be good.

Some of the kids at the party played hide-n-seek for hours lastnight.  My two were part of the group playing so much.  My son got to play it for the first time this year.  He is not old enough to be part of the youth group yet but his sister is this year.  So I didn't think it was very nice to have him there and not let him play the games, thank goodness no one complained.  He was excellent at hidding since he is only 56 pounds he fits just about anywhere.  Many times the kids had to give up because they didn't look for him underneath or inside a podium.  He was the only one small enough to fit in such a tiny place.

Today my DH, preacherboy was suppose to start his diet.  His sister brought him 2 dozen ginger cookies plus a plate of various other cookies yesterday.  So now he said he is going to take it upon himself to perge the house of those cookies....lol.  That was only the second time he has ever met his sister face to face, because she was adopted out as an infant.  Now I started that topic so I have to mention something else.  Preacherboys mom passed away in 1998 from brain cancer.  Her closest friend lives one block from us and preacherboy called her to see if we could bring someone over for her to meet.

When we got to the friends house and my DH introduced his sister first by name and then anounced that she was his sister, his mom's friend started crying immediately.  Which of course  made DH's sister cry too.  It turns out that this friend had been thinking a lot about how much she missed DH's mom.  Preacherboy's mom had told her friend many years ago about her daughter that she put up for adoption, and this friend had kept it a secret for all those years, but now was very happy to see that daughter.  I am sure she wished that preacherboy's mom could have been there to meet her too, but we know she is in heaven and I'm certain she is aware that her daughter is just fine.

So yesterday was perfect, emotional, mushy , fun and very long.  I can't wait to see what God has in store for 2008.

Well it hasn't been a good day for me. I've consumed 2714 cals so far today. I will probably have more later too as it's only 5:25 pm here. But it's not the end of the world, that is how I am trying to think of it :) My daily sedentary burn is 1800 so while will have some water retention and bloating from sodium I shouldn't gain much, just a lil bump in the road.

Tomorrow I go back to work. GROAN!!!

Hi, everybody!

HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEARS!!!!

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS...OF THIS YEAR!!!!

GONNA' BE GREAT IN 2008!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got my 2007 pictures ready for my Going for the Gold VICTORY PICTURES of 2008!!!

Been away and Very Busy, so my 2 missing days are now here, including my gym allowance. I didn't log yesterday as I went shopping and ate out with my Mom- rare occasion- and just tried to be sensible. Tongue out

Turning cold here- sat outside and watched fireworks past 12 last night- yawn!- and didn't sleep much. It was a free show that was easy to watch due to the hayfield behind my home. The various neighbors had some nice high ones for a long time- glad they weren't like the ammo Molly described in CA!!! South Mississippi is fine for me after reading what it's like for her! Surprised

Back tomorrow- I've really enjoyed reading all the posts! Laughing
