Here's a decent fiber website:

http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/foodnut/093 33.html ;
I think it's better to get it from foods, but you can get metamucil, or add benefiber powder to coffee and/or beverages too. Ugh, I don't like the taste of those things, though...Here's some of my faves: baked potato (regular, and sweet w/ skin), squash, pumpkin, all berries, brussel sprouts, whole wheat breads, carrots (unpeeled), as far as veggies go -- more crunchy = more fiber, generally.

But salsa has some fiber, green peas have it, broccoli, cabbage, and cereals like all-bran, and most of the kashi go-lean line (they are yummy w/ skim milk, or mixed into yogurt.) The fiber grams go hand-in-hand with exercise and getting that engine burning (the extra sleep helps too!)

Hang in, get 'er done, Forks!!
HURRY!!!!

OVER NIGHT your scale to MOLLY'S!!!

She'll teach it to behave for you!!!

100's will be awesome! I want you to make it, too!!!

Lol, I should try that! I swear if it says 201 I will be soooo pissed! I'm so tired of that number. I was excited to see it like 2-3 weeks ago, but now it needs to go BYE BYE! 200 will just be alright and anything under will be super exciting!

Oh, why did I let myself gain 20 lbs this summer! It would be so much nicer starting out from 185 instead of 207. Than I'd only have 25 lbs to lose! Oh well, I'm sure everybody feels that way.....

Wow! rivergrrrl- Great site!

I'm printing it for my poor Mom, lol. She is trying to understand about the different types of fiber.

I googled it because it didn't work at first, and enjoyed it. Thanks!

Forks- 25g. is fine, as the site said. I was told 35 was good for me- and I simply love 40+g. I might relax after seeing the info in that site, lol! Wink

As for how... I use Fiber One cereal daily as a dry snack with 7 raw almonds and a tbsp. of dried fruit to get a regular dose at a regular time of 'fast-acting' fiber... (The Nutritionist loved it as a perfect 150 or so calorie mid-morning snack.) Cool

Then... I follow Molly's example and am now working on variety. Simply follow her to her fridge and take a peek... crunch, crunch, munch... and luscious pre-washed fresh greens...! Good fruits are my favorites at night. I add a little Fiber One at the end of the day if I don't get enough, and it works great as a low-cal addition to yogurt and cottage cheese, etc. Trade the almonds out for your allergy, but enjoy fiber! Laughing

Forks,

They have all listed great stuff. I just wanted to show you what I eat to boost my fiber: fresh blackberries, fresh blueberries , fresh raspberries, spinach, and I also eat 5gram fiber bread and that's all I can think of for now. I used to eat these bars called Fiber One Bars and they are really good! Your doing great!

Good Job!!! Laughing

Fiber's FUN FOOD!!! WinkCool

I'm really happy with today also! My fiber has been great because of these black beans that I made in my crockpot yesterday. They are 70 calories per serving and 15 grams of fiber! So 2 servings alone gives me 30 grams! Wow! I eat them with 2 tbsp of sour cream and 1 serving (5) of wheat saltines. Yummy!

2beittybitty,

You're so funny!! I will cheer when I am back in a tennis shoe again (next week, yippee!)

Thank you, my picture is of my horse when he was 3 days old. He's almost a three-year old now but just as cute! His name is Aerodynamic (Aero for short). Next to my hubby and daughter, he is the BOMB!!

I don't know how much water I drank but I filled my 12 oz. bottle SEVERAL times.

I am kind of nervous about weighing in tomorrow. I feel as if I have not been eating enough and my metabolism has shut off!! Maybe it's just fatigue. I had to go back to work today and my kids were awful (I teach 8th grade). Hey does anyone know the numbers for sodium intake off hand?

Have a great Friday!!

Hey Everyone!

Sodium Intake is no more than 2400.

I exercised for 20 minutes today of strength training with my personal trainer

I'm not sure if I am done eating tonight or not! I didn't really have a meal today--I just sort of snacked. I'm sure everyone does that occasionally. The good thing is that they were all healthy snacks. I ate lots of yogurt, cottage cheese, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and almonds! I drank 4 liters of water today

Skye, most of the literature sez try for below 2300-2400 mg of sodium per day (1 teaspoon or less). If you don't have much packaged food, or use added salt, you should be in pretty good shape. Altho, fat free cottage cheese has a fair amount, also pickles and olives. Read the packages, they'll tell you how much per serving.

I was missing extra crunchy peanut butter, and full-fat cheese today. And large glasses of cold orange juice. Haven't completely given up those things, but they aren't in the program right now. Anyone else feel wistful for favorite foods? Even after treats of cake, and cookies through the holidays, might have to start planning in some calories for these things I miss.

Happy Friday, healthy friends...

Scenicskye- He's beautiful! LOVE his name!

My 'baby pic' is in my gallery- he's bigger now, like a half-size Shetland, and he lives with one. He's a mini and my 'walking partner' in good weather. Not as lovely as yours! Wink

Stats today-

Doing well on being a "Lark" vs. a "Night-Owl!" It seems to help with my gym time, esp. Cool

Hey, I lost 3/4 inch off my bustline, 3/4 inch off hips, and 1/2 inch off of thigh, for a total of 2 inches lost this week, Woo-Hoo. Those measurements lost really start to build up, even if weight loss is slow.  All progress in the measure of time. I hope my waist starts to catch up with the rest; dontcha hate your anti-gravity waist in your 40s? It used to be reliably my smallest area, now I have to work so hard just to keep it as is! I may have to go to the ranting thread to rant about my 45 year old waist!

Must get to work, it seems to be going slow and steady, too--I should just take that as a message from the universe and keep plugging away!

Karate class tonight with SO, then tomorrow workout and go look at possible new houses.

Have a great day everybody.

Back to 172 today- gained after weight lifting resumed...! Now I'm back to my lowest, and 1/2 lb. from 35... Yell

I want my 35!!! Yell

However...gym clothes were incredibly loose- couldn't even use the exercise shorts! Like you, rivergrrrl, I'm changing in inches! I go by them as the most important. Laughing

Forks, umm, we might shoulda' told you... I didn't expect you to go to 35 sooo soon...aah, maybe, umm, we should warn you... umm... you can get 'uncomfortable'... umm... with too much, toooo soon...??? Surprised

You ok today??? Surprised

Those of us enjoying lots of fiber can handle a lot of it, but you do need to adjust it gradually- and I thought you would with your usual nice, refreshingly non-obsessive, un-aggressive mind-set... so I didn't mention the usual recommendation to increase fiber gradually...! Sorry!!! I should have, just-in-case you enjoyed it a lot like I do! Wink

Hope you enjoy your day! Surprised

* waves to gang! Good morning everybody! * Laughing

weight lost this week:  .8

starting weight 188.8

last week 163.8

this week 163.4

lost this week .4

total lost 25.4

I have worked hard this week to stick with it, .4 is really frustrating for all my effort.  Feel like hormones are still out of whack hopefully that is the big problem.

I have an even bigger problem today!!!  Our furnace pilot light won't stay lit.  early this morning it stayed lit long enough to warm our house once.  Then I had to re-light it to get it to warm it again.  Now once I light the pilot and quit depressing the pilot button it goes out.  It is 22 outside and 56 inside.  I shipped my 2 kids over to grandmas to stay warm.  I have several space heaters going but they aren't helping much in this old drafty house.  I need to move to Arizona or maybe move in with Molly in California.  Oh I forgot California is getting RAIN oh no!!
