Praise God we are now totally back to normal here!!  WOOHOO!!

So, I was having unbearable cravings for a HUGE Angus Steak burger with the works. I called my mom and a friend and talked it out with them and came to the conclusion that 700 cals was a lot and I'm thankful that I talked it through before doing it!!  I settled for an all american Boca burger with lean bacon and pickles (lots of sodium today).  I made some homefries to go with the burger and I'm totally stuffed for fewer cals than that one burger would have been.

Cals: 1269
Grade: B

Breakfast:  265
1 poached egg on toast
2 pieces of toast with ICBINB light

Lunch:  269
1 Jennie-O turkey hot dog w/ bun
8 baby carrots

Snack:  100
10 mini fudge cookies

Dinner: 537
Bacon Boca burger
1 3/4 cups home fries w/ ketchup

Snack (bedtime): 60
Fat free chocolate pudding cup

Not the greatest nutrition in food today, but oh well.  It could have been WAY worse!

How many grams of fiber should you shoot for? Just curious I mean I did sort of feel full today but the total grams seemed a little low. I want to get as much out of each gram of food as possible while enjoying it.

hope everyone is having a good day,

-hananabanana

For Fiber, the number that I see most widely published is between 25 and 30 grams per day, so you were good for today.

Just wanted to check in! Busy Busy day for me. 8 hours of class. I'm good, you all seem good--I'm glad your daughter is feeling better tamleech--you sound better too! Ok, I'm out of here but will hopefully be able to write more tomorrow

Nutrition: A plus

Exercise: 1 hour of spin class

BLOOD TEST RESULTS ... GOOD NEWS

Before I started eating healthier in August 2008, I suffered from poorly controlled diabetes (HbA1c of 8.7), high cholesterol (208), and sky-high triglycerides (over 450). When I got my blood tested in October 2008 (2 months into dieting), my cholesterol had improved, my triglycerides had improved, and my blood sugar averages had all improved, too. Well, I just got my January 2008 test results (5 months into dieting) ... and the numbers/results are even BETTER!

HbA1c .... now 6.3 (blood sugar averages dropped another 30 points!)

Triglycerides ... now 242 (dropped another 117 points!)

Cholesterol ... now 162 (normal range) HDL (good) increased 9 points!

BLOOD TEST RESULTS ... NOT-SO-GOOD NEWS

My blood tests show that I have hypothyroidism (low thyroid), so my endocrinologist is starting me on 25mg daily of Synthroid. (I had no symptoms, by the way.) Apparently, my hypothyroidism may be one of the causes of my still-elevated triglyceride levels. Anyway, she has prescribed Synthroid as a replacement for a hormone that is normally produced by one's thyroid gland to regulate the body's energy and metabolism.... and she wants to see me on February 27, 2008. (This is the very same doctor who told me last August that I could never get my diabetes under control unless I had gastric bypass surgery.)

=^..^= MOLLY

Yay - Tam's brood (and Tam) is feeling better! Yippy!

Sympathies to Forks for her friend's passing.

Good job boots, an A plus?? I never!

HB -- your diet and schedule look much bettter, keep the consistency, don't worry about a bit of a gain, if you do it right your losing will begin and be permanent.

I have been feeling stressed out from work, life, mortgage and house hunting. Going to try to regroup today, weigh in, and post results by lunchtime.

Report for 1/24/08 (yesterday)

Calories = 2026 Burned = 2590 Deficit =  564

Exercise -- none, Thursday is rest day this week.

Fun food fact -- all my book club friends are excellent cooks! I stuck to the salad, and turkey meat loaf with salsa, and a cup of potato leek soup. I also had about a 1/2 cup of the rhubarb crumble. Oh, so...

Stats:

 Fat - 22.2% (51 grams)
 Protein - 13.4% (69 grams)
 Carbohydrates - 64.5% (332 grams)
 Alcohol - 0.0%
 Other - 0.0%

Daily Sodium Intake - 2,044 mg
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 81 mg

Daily Fiber Intake - 31 grams

Still high on Ye Olde Carbs (whadid I tell ya, Hannabanana...), from my mostly vegetarian and TTOM and higher stresses week. Trying not to freak out about it, just consider it objectively and see the results (or lack of 'em).

More later,

Original Post by rivergrrrl:

And the goal of 24 Fat, 24 Protein, 52 Carbs seems to be the right target, as well. And my fiber average is up to 39 grams for  the month. Two more weeks to get it over 40 g average,

 Weigh-in report 1/25/08

SW = 290

G4G SW = 218

Last week's weight = 209.5

CW = 209.5 (no loss, ah well, guess that proves that the "Veg/Carb" diet maintains, but doesn't create loss for me...) Still I have another week to meet my mini goal for January, 208 pounds, will keep on keepin on

Go4Gold Total = 8.5

Overall loss =  80.5

Shrinking report

Hips (at hip bones) -- down another .5 in

Calf -- down another .25 in

for .75 in lost this week. 6.25 inches lost since the beginning of the month; and 3.5 pounds.

Gotta get back to my good 24/24/52 Fat/Protein/Carb combo, seems to work the best. I have a long run (2 hours) coming up on Saturday, TTOM will be over, I think I'll do some meal planning and schedule organizing, perhaps life will calm down a bit and we'll see what happens next.

GOOD MORN-NIINNNGGGGG, GANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing

Had company and lo-ongg phone calls yesterday, no exercise... pitiful 3000+ pedometer, late supper of venison... probably reason for weight today... Need to post for yesterday, but tea water is boiling...!!! Laughing

New Day...!!!  Tweaking due to lot's of studying bmr yesterday... back later! Laughing

May your day be bright-as-possible!!! Laughing

last week 161.2

this week 160.6

total lost this week .6

I don't know what to do now. I am getting very frustrated about my weight
loss. As it stands for me here the things I have done to try to lose a little
faster...eating more after I found out I wasn't eating enough...exercising 2 hrs.
a day for 3-4 days a week and atleast half an hour on the other days but making
sure I have one day off completely...took soy out of my diet for a time to see
if that was effecting my metabolism. For a while I got excited because it looked
like I was losing faster but then came a small gain and now I lost that gain but
it is still only .6 lost since a week ago. Not done with my lifestyle yet..not giving up,just very discouraging and difficult. One thing that could be slowing it down is my stress level this week. Homeschooling two children and trying to teach long division has taken its toll on me. I have cried several times in the past few days, because I needed somewhere for the pressure to escape. Things are going to get better on that front, sometimes I need to learn when enough is enough, basically when it's time to change subjects and move onto one less frustrating.

Been there... Done that...!!!! Wink

I did ACE home schooling... Not Easy to do!!! Stress WILL affect you... The "Big Picture," is good to stop and remember sometimes... With schooling and dieting, too. They both get tough at times... but I don't regret either one! Both have benefits worth all your effort.WinkTongue out

You're Not gaining-for-real, losing still... whether visible on the scale or not... Yell

Have you measured? Exercise is crucial- but it can, "Muddy the waters!" Laughing

I'm so mad! I got on my scale this morning and it said "Lo"!!!! I've tried so many times to get it to work and it won't! The battery is going out I guess. So now I need to get a new one and lately our budget has been so tight because of bad weather and hubby not being able to work much. It'll probably be a couple weeks at least before I can get a new one. We'll have to see what his paycheck is today, but I doubt it because he's going on a trip for about a week, so I have to be extra careful.... gggrrrr

Oh, well, maybe when I get a new one, I'll be super excited to see what it says, since it will have been a while since I weighed myself! That's one thing to look forward to I guess!

I'm Sorry, mel!!! Surprised

Wish I could share my scale!!! Innocent

Maybe you could measure instead, then go rant in Molly's thread till you feel better!!! Can you try a battery in it? Laughing

It takes some sort of funky lithium battery... But someone told me that Radioshack has all different sorts of batteries, so maybe I'll look there...

They do, Mel! Hope ya' find one! Laughing

Thanks, Dear Boss---

We need a nice, sane, level-headed outlook on days like this!!!  WinkTongue out

(Couldn't resist the tongue, tho'-- no offense intended! All-in-Fun!)

Talked to Nutritionist today, been studying bmr subject and rivergrrrl's advice on extra nutriton for hard cardio, and I wanted help! I'll share later, as I've got, "A long way ta' go, and a short time ta' git there, lol!" Laughing

Hey All!

I'm very very excited but first I want to check in with everyone!

Molly: Congrats on all your numbers, I'm just curious if you thought about getting a second opinion or if you have for the thyroid medication? Will this be a life-long thing or a short-term thing? Just curious, I'm very impressed by all the numbers!

RG: You really impress me with all your exercise: would you say that you love love to exercise or is it just something that you do for fun/stress relief? What's going on with the house?

2BB: Your doing so great with all your exercise, nice work! I am interested in seeing what your nutritionist said

4sq: You are an amazing woman! I don't think I would be calm enough to home-school if I ever have kids! And you still managed to lose weight--nice!

HB: Your nutrition is looking a lot better, nice job!

Mel: sorry to here about the scale, have you measured yourself before? You should, it's such a great tool to have when the scale doesn't go down

Forks: Thansk for your information and knowledge, now you got me very curious about what you and Coach Kat are scamming up! And the Pampered Chef party sounds nice--hope you have a ball!

Sharing information my trainer/nutritionist gave me:

I had a visit with my trainer today about nutrition: She was very excited about what I have been doing & impressed by what I have been doing. Of course, I am just following what she told me to do. She said that  usually she has to struggle to get people to follow the program but not me! I want to do this 100% or not all!

So the news that she told me today is that people are over-carbed--that Americans eat too many carbs and don't get enough protein in their diets-- Do I believe her? Yes, Do you have to? No, but with this knowledge you all can decide what to do with it--You all also can watch my progress and I can let you know if it works or not--- so here is what I am eating and what my trainer/nutritionist has me on----so this might not work for everyone but I'm doing it and I will keep you all updated on how the weight loss goes! I will check in later, have a great afternoon gang!

Protein: 100 to 200 grams a day

Carbs : 70 to 100 grams a day

Fat: 40 to 70 grams a day
