What are good drinks to drink?

Quote  |  Reply
I drink plenty of water all day.  In the morning, I take vitamins.  I can't take them with water, it makes me want to puke.  I usually take them with enough gatorade to swallow them, no more.  At dinner, I don't want to drink water with my meal, so I was looking for some healthy drink tips.  I like skim milk.  I also drink tea during the day.  What else is there that is good for you with not too many calories or so much sugar?  I am a huge juice fan, but since I started counting my calories, I have found that there are just too many in it.

Morning = milk or OJ if I can get freshly squeezed.  Sometimes, you just gotta.

Day = water

Evening = diet soda with my supper.  Tea, hot chocolate or something similar later on.  Water rest of the way
I drink sugar free kool aid or crystal light or green tea.  Ocean Spray has a diet cranberry juice with only 10 calories a serving, but I find it too watery for me.
a glass of 1/2 water 1/2 juice is light and refreshing.

get a fresh lemon and slice into skinny circles, add them to a pitcher of water in the fridge and it ends up tasting lemonade-ish and wonderful.
My water says it has minerals added for taste.  Is that good?
You can dilute Gatorade to half strength, and if you're already weaned from sweets, it will still taste pretty sweet. That's 100 calories per quart, so watch it even still (I only drink it while cycling, doing yard work in the summer, or on rest stops on motorcycle trips).

Decaffeinated tea with Splenda is one of my mainstays. Drink all you want, but you'll still have to take a few extra trips per day. ;-)

You could also do the "sports water" stuff, but that gets expensive.

Hey, why not a little bit of lemon and some Splenda in your water? Zest it up a little bit, eh?
Tea for me.

My pantry looks like a gormet tea shop.  I only have 20 varities on hand.  I have found that it keeps me going all day and it seems to surpress my appetite.

Some say that the green teas have health benefits.  I don't care I just love my teas.  The majority of my teas are Decaf.

You can get flavoured water that has no calories. I know Nestle makes it sweetened with Splenda - 0 calories for 500 ml. And I also know Aquafina makes flavoured water also but I don't know what sweetener they use, but no calories as well. But good flavours, lemon, raspberry, strawberry, and orange, a nice change from reg. water.(I buy a case when it goes on sale)

I also love my teas like Roy...and Green tea def has health benefits...antioxidants fight cancer...and so many flavours of Green tea, I have Earl Grey and Jasmine...so many out there yet to try...and also herb teas as well are tasty and good for you.

I like lemon in my water like already mentioned by ilovebunnies. Nice change from plain filtered water.

Plus I like my water to be ice water. That makes a difference to me. Tastes better, and has to be filtered, not tap, tastes better.
I like some juice occasionally, but you are right, commercial juices are packed with sugar and high in calories.  What I like to do is take 1/2 cup of juice and add it to a glass of water.  Tasty and not so calorie dense.
I like to get the Sam's bottled water at Wal-mart $0.50 a bottle no calories. The flovor is too strong for me so I half it with water and it also comes in a variety of flavors.
There are low-calorie fruit juices out there made by Ocean Spray.  A half cup of that, with some carbonated water makes a great refreshing drink for about 20 calories!

rfoster I agree, nothing soothes me like a good cup of tea.

Morning - black decaf coffee (my two teenagers harrass me relentlessly over the decaf part - they always say "mom, you are missing the point of coffee!!")

Day - tons of water and 1 cup of tea

Evening - decaf tea and more water

To make my diluted juice (or crystal light) extra zingy I like to use bubbly water or a shot of diet gingerale...especially great for those spring/summer days that are soon on their way!
You can also buy "light" juices if you like. I personally love the Oceanspray Lite Cranberry Cocktail, and it is about 50 calories for an 8 ounce glass. Just make sure that you are watching your portions. ;0)
I was going to say Vodka and Ocean Spray Light Cranberry, but I just realized that this is not that kind of thread. So, I will say water...water...water is always best, but Lipton Diet Green Tea Citrus or Berry is good.

I simply cannot live without seltzer water.  Unfortunately it only seems abudandant in the NYC metro area.
I'm with Tiggergal, sugar free koolaid, grape is yummy. Crystal light is also yummy. I do have to mention, because I have had this issue, to much artificial sweetner can make like you have a UTI. So I would not drink more then 32oz of it a day. Cheers!
I personally take my vitamins at night so that way they don't make me sick.  That way you don't have to worry about drinking something else!

1/2 c plain low-fat yogurt, 1/2 c icy cold water and a small dash of salt is sooooo refreshing - easy on the salt though
my new favorite is rooibos tea. It is so yummy. It has all of the benefits of green tea (anti oxidants, etc) but with out the caffeine, so you can drink it all day. It is sweet and nice, comes in many varieties... I like the vanilla and chai.
