I'm trying to find a good dry wine... white or red either one would do... I'd like to serve some with dinner while my in laws are out, but I don't want the high calories you find in most of the sweeter wines that I have always liked.... I hate most dry wines but I'm sure there must be at least one out there I could deal with that has a lower calorie content... any ideas??

I don't think there's such a thing as a low-cal wine, that would be my dream! But I could recommend Chateau St. Jean Fume Blanc ... it's YUMMY (and dry)!!
Thanks Tina! I'll try that one. I also heard of a wine called white lie early season Chardonnay, it's supposedly made with grapes picked in the early season and has less sugar, has anyone tried that??
You could try one of the Wolf Blass wines from Australia.
The Clos Du Blos Cab.
I don't think it makes too much of a difference, maybe 5-10 calories variation per class. So, maybe stay away from strictly dessert wines, but otherwise just go with what you like the most.
Try one of the german whites - less alcohol marginally less calories. My favorite trick - wine spritzers!
Mfchill great call on the Clos Du Blos Cab, a very yummy wine.
My current favorite white is Maddalena 2004 Monterey Chardonnay. First had it at my favorite sushi place, liked it so much my girls bought me a case for my bday.
Caymus Conundrum is my stand by dinner wine. It goes great with pork, fish, chicken.
As far as calories there really is not that much of a difference to settle for anything but the wine you enjoy the most. There is a wine out there that has fewer carbs that other wines. Don't recall its name but the label reads low carb very clearly. It comes in white and red.

Bonterra - it's good, not terribly expensive, and very comforting :) I have always liked the Lindemanns wines as well (they have both red and white, different kinds)
It all depends on where you live... and what kind of wine you like. One dry wine that I really like is a fruit wine. Its made by the Fort Wine Company, I think it's called Crisp Green Apple or maybe just Green Apple... I don't really remember, I've cut myself off of it for too long!
Depends also on what you're making.
What are you serving?

One.6 chardonnay is a low carb wine but a good dry white is kendall jackson chardonnay
I have just discovered Gato Negro, it comes in a Merlot or Chardonnay.
Have you tried a Boujoule? I don't know cals. but it is a nice red wine that I think that is a little sweet but I like bold dry wines. This one can fall in between I think. I also love Bordeaux.
I lived in Bordeaux for a while, so I have to rootfor the home team.....lately I found a deal on 2000 Carbonnieux red, which will keep me happy for months to come....I'd go for most Bordeaux (mainly cab/merlot blends) or Rhone (mainly syrah) or Burgundy (mainly pinot noir) for dry reds. The American versions of these I like best come from Oregon and Washington - sorry, I don't know the Australians and Chileans, and I don't care much for Californias. For dry whites, nothing beats a good cold Graves - Carbonnieux or de Fieuzal, Haut Brion if you have a ton of money to spend. Chardonnay is not a dry wine - "California Kool Aid" - sickeningly sweet tasting to me. Finally, if you want a dry red that will kick you in the head try a Cahors (mainly Malbec) or something containing tannat grapes. I think these wines were designed with pirates in mind.....
