Too much "good" FAT?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi all. Wanted your input on something...Right now my analysis says that I have eaten 41.6% FAT, or 22 Grams. I am pretty confident that this is all (or mostly) good fat but I am still worried because it seems like a high percentage. I will show you my menu and let me know what you think.

Mind you I work at night so I sleep late so I am not starving myself, this is just my menu thus far:

For breakfast I ate a Fat Free Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt, with a Navel Orange

For lunch I made a big salad with:

Romaine Lettuce

1/2 an avocado

Three small yellow sweet peppers

Three chopped Mushrooms

9 Small baby pitted olives from olive bar

Teaspoon EVOO (just realized I didnt even ADD the EVOO yet, yikes)

And Balsamic.

Don't know what Im eating later but I think its def. gonna need some protein.

Seems healthy but the fat is just so high. Is this bad? Should i not have eaten the combination of avocados, olives, and evoo at once? Thanks!

i don't think it's a big deal if it's good fats! our bodies need fat to function especiallyour brain.  As long as your calories are within the range you need without depriving adequate nutrition you're good

its probably just because you haven't eaten much!! 22g is well below the maximum intake of 70g for women and 95 for men . if you've eaten 22 g of fat thats 198kcal and if this is 41% of your total intake thats what like less than 500 calories!!!

if you now continue to eat up to a reasonable amount the percentages should all balance themselves out.

the fats you are eating are good healthy fats so these along with MORE food should be fine :)

Also, that's, what? less than 500 calories? So you've only had about a third calories for the day. I'm sure your snacks and dinner will balance it out. And as girlfighting said, fats are good! Esp the ones you are getting.

Several studies have shown that high fat diets (like 60% of calories from fat) are better for both cardiovascular health and fat loss than lower fat (20%) diets.

41.6% is fine.

Thanks for all the input! You're all right - the percentage is high because I havent eaten that much yet. I guess we are so sensitive to the word FAT that its hard to get beyond that... but am trying ;-)
