Try entering your stats into the above link.  At 69" tall, 15 years old and 165lbs you'll find you're a perfectly healthy weight already.  Good news. Smile  Because your body is still growing and developing (for about the next six years) and because you're not overweight you probably don't need to 'diet' as such..... Instead...

  • Eat healthier foods rather than counting calories.  Base your regular meals & snacks around vegetables, wholegrains, pulses (legumes)... using lean meat/fish, oils/fats, fruit, nuts seeds, dairy products etc. as flavourings.  Reason being the these foods are nutritious, bulky and therefore filling and satisfying without being too calorific.
  • Do an hour of exercise a day.  This will improve your body-shape,  tone your muscles and burn fat.  If you increase your exercise you'll probably find your weight comes down a little at the same time.

If you focus more on getting into a good routine of regular exercise  and healthier foods (rather than purely on weight-loss and 'dieting') you may find it resolves your yo-yo dieting issues.  Finally... be wary of setting yourself measurement targets.  Everyone is a different shape so it's a question of making the most of what you've got with intelligent dressing and a good posture rather than agonising that you don't match up to some mythical ideal.  Currently you're a lovely hour-glass shape which must look fantastic with you being so tall.  Many would kill for it... Smile

It is so crazy how alike you and I are. I'm 15 about-to-be 16 too. I got down to 137 via "dieting" and too much exercise last year, then October-November-December-Jan. creeped up on me and I got back to the 150's. I was 5'5" earlier this year, so you can see how terrible that felt, haha. I'm now down to 145 and 5'6", but you have I have very very similar ratios (and judging by the picture, this is probably the creeeeepiest thing someone on the internet could ever say, but our bodies look so much alike it's crazy.) I think it's so cool to find someone so similar to me roflmao.

Anywhosal~!

I think it's fine to want to lose weight. You're at the higher BMI scale, but still in the healthy range. Just.. don't get crazy with it. The scale is a bunch of horsesh*t 90% of the time, and setting a goal on measurements could potentially be disapointing later on. I don't see it being too much of a harm to have a 0.25-1 inch loss for every 2-3 weeks. Any gains should be looked at logically.. ie none of the "ZOMG I GAINED AN INCH ON MY ARMS EVEN THO I TOTALLY HAVE MORE MUSCLE TONE!!111" thing. Logic FTW!

Make sure you're eating enough for your activity level. Be careful about how much you exercise. Endorphins are fun, buuuut, you can cause injury. I know my hamstrings haven't been nearly as flexible since I overexerted it once. I really regret doing that, and I had to take 2 weeks off from exercising to recover. Not. Fun. On average, a 60 to 90 minute workout is ALL you need, and you'll burn enough calories or build enough muscle to see some results next time you take your measurements.

Food, well, you know the drill. Moderation, think intuitively, and don't get psycho about it. 'Dieting' at any age is no bueno. Real life eating is bueno, and especially as a teen.. Well, healthy eating is fine, but remember that you'll live with your food choices later on. Like cake? Moderate portion of cake! Or big portion! Just remember it all balances out later, and you freakin' love cake, and think life is better with it and you do your best to eat well at other times. ;)

So.

Yeah.

Welcome to CC.

Use it responsibly. ;3

(P.S. That BMI chart = Lifesaver. Favorite that shiz and refer to it over any of the things CC's tools tell you. Just sayin'. Everyone seems to forget it alot.)

I agree with gi-jane, you are a beautiful shape as you are, and as your body continues to mature, all the bumps and lumps will turn into curves. You are at a difficult time in your growing right now. your body seems to be to big for your age (or at least thats what you feel like) but its not. you are 5'9" tall!!! im 5'7" im insanely jelous and im old enough to be ur mom lol. anyway. amp up the exercise, cut out the yo-yo dieting and focus on good nutritous foods, if you want a peice of cake have a peice, and dont feel guilty about it, find a sport that you like to do and give it all you got. in a couple of years you will see exactly what we are talking about. hope this helps

A 25 inch waist sounds awfully small for someone as tall as 5'9.  You know your body better than I do, but I agree with gi-jane that you should focus on getting healthy rather than on target numbers.

You can't magically choose your ideal proportions and expect them to come true.

that is seriously ironic ;O ( the body size) I just want to be thin ;O HERE I COME VEGETABLES! <333

In the wise words of Sir Mix-a-Lot: 36-24-36? Only if she's 5'3"!

Seriously though, you can't choose your proportions. While fat does have something to do with it, the size of your rib cage or pelvis will ultimately dictate the smallest measurements you can acheive. Especially since you are nice and tall, don't compare your weight or measurements to women who are half a foot shorter than you.

You are at an age where your body is still developing and changing, and you will probably find that your curves shift around a bit as you get older. For now, the best thing you can do is eat a healthy and balanced diet and get plenty of physical activity. GI Jane was right on, especially with regard to making the most of the body you have by choosing clothes that flatter your individual shape.
