I have this terrible lemonaide craving. Has anyone ever tried making it with spenda, and if so did it turn out okay? I don't want to drink all my calories with sugary lemonaide, but I can't shake the craving.

Have you thought about Crystal Light lemonade? You could even squeeze in some extra fresh lemon if it's not to your taste. :) Only 5 calories per 8 fl. ounces!

I've always made it fresh, but I might try Crystal Light again. I wasn't so fond of it when I tried it last, but its probably been 10 years. Maybe it is better now. Thanks.
Most ppl don't realize this, but lemonade gets its flavor from the lemon PEEL, not the juice (in fact, the juice isn't so great, even if you put sugar in it).
I suggest two lemons in the food processor, add 2 qts of water and 2 tbsp of Equal. You'll have next to no calories, and it's close enough to Kool-aid that you might not care.
At least that's how I am; if it's close enough then I don't care how it tastes, heheh.

BTW - one lemon with peel has 5g of fiber and only 20 calories. that's awesome.
I found something at the health food store called Santa Cruz Organics. One of the juices is Lemonade. It's about 100cal per 8oz. I like it.
I've never made lemonade with aritificial sweetener, but I have a reduced-sugar lemonade where I replace half of the sugar water with watermelon juice, and then add about a cup of lavender tea, which adds flavour and a little sweetness. The result is a delicious pink lemonade!
Thanks Bigdude and elmfraser. I will try both of these recipes. Watermelon juice in it sounds lovely!
I LIVE (literally) on lemonade made with Splenda. I usually use 1/2 lemon and squeeze the juice into a 16-oz cup and then put 6-7 packets of Splenda in it. It turns out almost as good as the Lemon Shake-Ups you get a the local fairs. I love it and drink 3-4 of these a day instead of diet pop. I am sure you could do a whole pitcher as well, just use the Splenda to taste.
Okay, I made it with 1/2 lemon squeezed, 1 cup watermelon juice and 2 packets of splenda. It was perfect!! I'm going to have to make this a lot more often.
You know what I always do. I just add cold water to lemonade drinks or juice that way I am drinking half the amount and it's not super sweet!
wow elmfraser you genius, i need to try that!
I also dilute my drinks; I usually drinks one scoop of gatorade for 24 oz of water. 50 calories is better than 150 calories or, in the converse, you can drink 72oz of water for 150 cals. If you work outside a lot, you ought to drink at least one scoop of gatorade, IMO. Floridians know, you need electrolytes!
I use water, lemon juice and a dash of Stevia. Stevia is a natural sweetener, unlike Splenda, which does bad things to my body. You can get it a Trader Joes. It's great in tea and on cereal too. Zero Calories! Of course you could use splenda too, but I hate the stuff and wish someone would ban it.
ditto to corky's stevia recipe (before you use splenda, read this link http://www.truthaboutsplenda.com/factvsfictio n/index.html)
One glass lemonade: juice of 1 large lemon, 1/8 tsp powdered stevia or 2-3 drops liquid stevia. Stevia powder doesn't dissolve in cold liquid as well as it does hot, so for recipes like lemonade I use liquid stevia extract, about 2 drops for a glass.
I buy my stevia online:
packets (put one packet in with your oatmeal as it cooks, no need for added sugar): http://www.steviasmart.com/stevsup50pac.html
powdered (I use it in my muffin and granola recipes, for recipe substitution in baking recipes use 1 tsp stevia = 1 CUP of sugar): http://www.steviasmart.com/steviablend.html
liquid stevia for lemonade, iced tea: http://www.steviasmart.com/stevstevliq.html

I tried ALL sweeteners and found them o.k. between some of them I don't see any difference except for price. However, I just coudn't stomach Stevia - it has herbal taste and I don't find it suitable for anything, because you still taste that taste. I just coudn't use it (not even for herbal tea) and gave it to a friend to take it to her office for others to use with their tea etc. if they want to. It was no go. However, this is my opinion only, but if you are looking for sweet taste to replace sugar - it is not Stevia.
I know what you mean magan. It's not for everyone, to be sure, but I will say usually that bitterness comes from using too much. It's quite an adjustment to use a sweetener where 1 tsp equals 1 cup of sugar. Personally I'm trying to limit my refined sugar as much as possible, but I won't ingest aspartame or splenda. It was worth it for me to learn how to use stevia to not have that bitter aftertaste.
