Is this a good meal plan?
Hey everyone.. does this sound like a good meal plan for gaining half a pound to a pound a week?? I'm 14, 5"3 and 97lbs..
Breakfast: CIB, 1 carb, 1 protein/fat. (450)
Lunch: 2 carb, 2 protein, 1cup veggies, 8oz OJ(400-500)
Snack: CIB, fruit/granola bar/ ice cream or other treat (300-500)
Dinner: 1 carb, 1 protein, 1cup veggies (300-500)
Snack: CIB (250-300)
That's what? 2000-2250 calories... I'm scared to up it for now, because before Ive gained from 98-102 on 2000 a day
But does this sound good to you??
no, it does not sound good.
youre 13 years old, a growing child. you would need about 2500 a day if you did not have an eating disorder and were not underweight just to have fun, live life, and grow.
if you cant do it yourself you NEED a parent.
1 ensure will get you to 2500.
dont overestimate your food, youre only cheating yourself!!!
youre 13, get your parent to help!!!!!
Yeah, I'm with a nutrionist, and 2 other pediatritions...
That's about what my nurtitionist told me to have daily just this morning, what I posted is just more pasific, and she never tells me to count calories, but then I worry about getting too much or too little..?
My nutritionist just tells me so many, gains/proteins/dairy/vegtables and CIBs
Does this sound like a good meal plan to anybody else? :S
it looks fairly similar to what I've been told to have too. but I wouldn't set too much stock by that cause our situations may be very different.
bottom line is, if your nutritionist told you to have this then unless she's a quack, it IS a balanced healthy meal plan. why not follow it and see if you gain the weight as expected? if you don't, go back to her and ask about increases. you need to make absolutely sure you don't overestimate and end up having less though, cause there's a lot of scope for that with 'exchange' meal plans.
from what I can see people here are going to tell you that you need 2500 calories at least. from my POV, I follow my dietitian's advice instead of that because I find it difficult to trust anyone with my food intake and trusting her is hard enough. plus, I think going with what the professionals involved in your care say is one of the most important things in treatment. that's not to say it would be bad to eat more - it wouldn't at all. what WOULD be bad is if you started to follow the 'advice' of your eating disorder and cut things out of that plan. thinking of your nutritionists advice as a 'minimum' rather than a 'maximum' would be a healthier way to go about it :)
ps. also, how active are you? and why is your dinner so much lighter than your lunch, is that a personal choice or recommended by your nutritionist?
I DONT GET IT. you're asking for help all day every day but you wont do what ppl here suggest to get better. 2500 is wat most 13 year olds eat because they are growing. this site suggests a min of 2500. and yet you wont listen.
so wat do you want. no-one here is gonna support you when you wont listen to the advice given to you.
just in case you missed it from the other post.
"start with a minimum of 2500, if you're not gaining on that then after 1-2 weeks increase to about 2750 and monitor your gain."
"It depends on whether or not that walk is leisurely or brisk. Lets assume that since you're anorexic (no offense, I am too!) that its a fairly brisk walk. In addition to the ab exercises, you're probably looking at needing an extra 200 (300 if its a more aerobic video)calories for that - so maybe 2700-2800."
Thanks Innocenteyes..:)
And Fidget84, I know, I don't get it either! :'(
I know it's stupid, and I know I might keep asking pretty much the same things over and over agin, but, well I duuno, I guess my ED is just looking for an answer that says "eat as little as posible!", and I guees I'll never get that, and yeah I'm glad... I guess I just have screwed up trust issues, with everybody from my parents, to nutritionist to CC members! I'm sorry for being annoying, I really am, I won't repeat anymore questions..
you're not annoying. okay. you're not. you're suffering.
BUT you need to bite the bullet. just get those cals up. no BS. just get them up
there is support here for you. but you need to make the first move

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
