Good Morning Weekend Defenders!!!

Quote  |  Reply

Okay today is the first day or my first weekend in this new life style!!! Yeah!!! I am my own cheerleader this morning!! I am determined that i will stay with the game plan this weekend.  My binge day isn't until the first Saturday in February - uh not the first Saturday on my "diet"!!!! I am very excited as I have lost 4 pounds my first week.  Normally when I start a diet I always - always get sick. That could be because all I was eating was meat!!!  Ya think?  Well, so far not even a hint at sick!!! Funny what a healthy diet and exercise can do for a person!

Anyway enough rambling - what is your plan of action to stave off the weekend splurge - totally trashed my diet - feel really guilty for it - syndrome???

Me - I am off to the tax man this morning - Pray for me!!! Then off to the gym.  Then back home for a Saturday clean - and perhaps a nap later or finish my book !

What about you?

Congrats on the progress Lauri!

During the week I get up at 6:00 AM and walk 5km before breakfast.  Today I slept in until 8, and have just finished breakfast.  It's a lovely bright winter day, so I'm going to go for my walk before lunch - but then I have to work this afternoon.  Frown

I had fruit and yoghurt and marmite and toast for breakfast while my boyfriend ate a bacon sandwich in front of me. Men!

Just made a ham and mushroom omlette for lunch with a litttttttle bit of sage derby cheese which is lush, and I had a massive pile of tomatoes and cucumber and spring onions and lettuce with that, so I've been pretty healthy so far. Er... being taken out for dinner later though, oh well! Hardly going to complain am I! We're having tapas... I adore tapas. Or anything that comes in hundreds of small tastes rather than a big plate of one thing! I think I'll probably order some prawns and olives and asparagus, and have some red wine. Calorie counting is a bit tricky with restaurants but I'll probably try it as I don't intend to eat masses. I enjoy food loads more these days because I enjoy every mouthful don't just wolf it down, and I like some wine and conversation! Will go pick a dress in a bit.

My weekend exercise is running round in the frozen park chasing swans and lots of sex, everything else is not enough like fun :)

I am also getting up at 6 am but I can tell you that getting off the couch until 6:30 is an amazing thing in itself!!!  Then I go and feed my horses, shower and get ready for work.  I have to leave my house at 7:30 and that seems to be a challenge in itself!! I have wanted to do something in the morning for awhile now.  I have a small treadmill in my tack room and I am thinking that I could set it up and for that 1/2 while watching the news I could walk. But  I can only imagine taking a walk and in the cold!!!  Refreshing??? You are tough and an inspiration!!! What state is home?  I am in south Carolina in the low country and it doesn't stay cold for long here. Lauri

4 pounds in a week is amazing by the way! Well done.

Thanks for the hearty laugh!!! I didn't see that coming!!! That is an area that I have pretty much lost interest in!!! Not good!!! I noticed I started loosing interest the more I grew!!! So I am hoping that loosing this baggage will help in that area!!! Have fun tonight!  I remember the days when conversation and a very good restaurant were the norm.  Then I gave up single life and well, I'm lucky to get a quiet night  complete with slim conversation at the Mexican restaurant!!!  Okay - I'm getting off subject!!!!

Right now for me - restaurants are a no no!!!  So let us know how it went!!!

What state are your writing from?

Thank you very much!

Got up at 5am. Had my decaf, egg beaters, and whole wheat toast with low fat butter. Then did my situps, etc. Then decided to go for a major walk and ended up walking 6 miles in 90 minutes. Now checking CC while sipping my Tazo green tea.

I always walk at least 30 min or 2 miles but when I have time I do a long one. Feel great and the plan has been working nicely. I'm down 32 pounds from last year.

This is a great post.   Weekends are my downfall!  But I got up this morning and was down .8 from yesterday so that's good.  But then I went to my favorite restaurant and had a biscuit.   More of a habit than anything.  But tomorrow I will do oatmeal.   And I will exercise this weekend as well.  Got to change my weekend habits.

I'm in England... derbyshire but my heart's in yorkshire.

I don't eat out in my daily life - I cook all my food myself (boy does occasionally, but I'm BETTER at it) and I make my own lunches for the hospital etc, so I do love an occasional treat night in a restaurant. Did your boyfriend/husband try the tofu the other night, by the way?!Laughing

Sex is good for... weight loss, and the soul....

Mike , 32 pounds is awesome!!! I am hoping that as I continue to exercise that gradually the energy and desire increases.  I wasn't able to go to the gym yesterday - simply because the time ran out  - and I missed it.  I am really looking forward to going this morning sometime.  Thanks for sharing that you work your abs in the morning.  Years and years ago I used to work abs - 3 xs a day!!! Hmm life time ago.  That might work.  I can do that with the news and my hubby won;t get aggravated that I have a treadmill in the living room!!!

I just had an idea that maybe the exercise is the greatest deterrent to straying off course this weekend~

A close friend of mine at work is from England- she is my walking partner.  I will ask her what part is home.  I have never been to Europe.  I have been to South America, Puerto Rico (which i hated), Dominican Republic and most of the Bahama Islands.  I do love to Travel.  I can only imagine how diverse and interesting England must be.  Her history - really fascinating!

I bet you are a good cook!!! No my husband didn't eat any tofu - not yet.  I will surprise him with it once I find the perfect recipe for me.  I am still looking for some of the ingredients  for the recipes, that you posted.  My town consists of around 25,000 people.  I moved here from Miami, FL so it has been a big change.  At any rate my choices are limited to say the least! But I have learned to love the small town lifestyle.  Back to recipes, I noticed that there are a lot of Tofu ideas right here on this site, so it is a matter of time before he eats Tofu!!!!

Sex, wow of all the things I miss the most - that might be one of them.  I know that will improve as I loose weight and exercise.  One victim in my weight gain has been my self esteem. Now I understand what over weight people go through as now I am one of them.  It is a learning experience and for me a true journey complete with amazing insights.  But I am becoming inspired to maybe create a little romance for tonight ands see where it goes!!!  I think there is still a heartbeat!!! LOL!

I'm in southern Ontario, so we're really just getting into winter now.  Today it's -12 celcius (about 10 fahrenheit) but there's no wind, so it was a nice, crisp walk.  It's those windy  -17 mornings that make me want to pull the covers over my head and stay in bed!

TWT I believe you can make the change.  I believe that the fact that you are here says you can do it!! Just take that biscuit and put it into your food log - that is the beauty of this - we can have what we want in moderation and if it is recorded and counted.   You and I both can get through this weekend - on track!!! Have fun working out!!!

My husband loves Canada.  He has gone hunting in Saks??? Long name I can not spell.  the western part of Canada and way out in the middle of now where!! He says the people are so nice and the country just amazing.  He wanted to move there and then I reminded him that he is a southern boy and he has no idea what cold is!!!No idea what so ever!!! I hope you stay warm today!!! At least it is above and not below.

Well guys I am off to see the tax person and I am shaking in my house slippers!!! Then off to the gym.  I will look for you guys later on!!! Remember we are worth the effort and big things are done one tiny step at a time!

OP:  You schedule a binge day? Odd.  What if you don't need it?  What if you need it tomorrow?  I take a maintenance day every once in a while (it's not a binge, just ask the ED'ers), but certainally don't look forward to next Tuesday or any day for that matter to eat higher calories than what I normally do.  Some days s*** happens!  If I'm flying along alright then what have I got to gain by overdoing it just because it was scheduled?  This would be my opportunity to forgive myself day, and not give up.

weekends are more difficult. I was craving chocolate badly this morning, so I had 4 peices-300 calories! Well I did add it to my log. I have lost 7 lbs so far. I am doing pretty good, just need more exercise!

I have scheduled a dieter gone wild day because it helps me early to avoid eating the stuff that I should not eat.  I am a total sugar addict and when I crave sugar I can tell myself that I can have it  - later.  That makes a difference for me.  If I say no - the more i say no the more I want it!!  That is just for me.

So when that day comes I look forward to it - it will be a a treat.  I hope that the more weight I loose the more I will want to be healthy about that day.  But this is my first week s0 time will tell. It really is a mind thing. Lauri

Shelly it sounds like you are doing great.  I have had a fantastic day!  The tax thing went better than I had hoped.  I made it to the gym and had a really good work out.  But I was lousy with eating.  I forgot to eat then I had a really good protein bar but went to the grocery store hungry.  Well I bought a healthy choice meal for lunch. I was so focused on the calories that I forgot the sodium content!!! Anyway, it rates a C and really left me hungry.  I guess I will go get a snack.  I know with all that sodium I will need to drink a ton of green tea and water and  I might show a weight gain in the am.  But it is okay because I learned to be prepared!!! I can not do the not eating thing like before. Cool

My binge day isn't until the first Saturday in February

I only said binge because that's what you called it to begin with.  I do like the idea of a "nutritional eater going wild day though".  Diet is a taboo word in my vocabularly (4-letters)
