Good online games that don't require constant attention?

Quote  |  Reply

I work in a call center, and to kill time between calls I play on my laptop. I am burned out on different types of solitaire, bejeweled, and hangman. Can anyone recommend any online games that I don't have to keep my eye on all the time?

i recently started playing bubble shooter  its addicting and im in the same situation as you so its good. it reminds me of snood? haha

I've been totally addicted to Scrubbles on myspace games since it came out!

i like playing games over at pogo.com

I like Yahoo's Text Twister, while you are playing a set, you have to pay attention but you can break free between sets.

If you like word games like hangman, you might like Flip Words II.  It's available free from a couple of sources with limited features, but if you really like it, the full feature version is cheap.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.Smile

Newgrounds.com has lots and LOTS of games... from short ones like bejeweled knock offs to completely original independent flash games to quite a few longer RPGs. Definitely recommend it... as long as you can handle skipping over the juvenile scenery..=P

you could always pick up an MMO and solo (or light groups). Then play in larger groups or more challenging sittuations when you have the extra time.

I would recommend city of heroes / city of villains for something like that. Very casual and you can completely pick the challenge you want to play at (along with a lot of "missions" are instanced so you can take as long as you want and no one can / will bother you).

But it probably depends how much time you have to kill between calls... if you are speaking of a minute or two, then that might not be very much time (and i doubt you want to play while answering the calls).

Then again, you could always pick up a hobby or project to do with the extra time (learning another language? writing something?).... or just forum hop all the time. (java / flash games can only keep you busy for so long).

OR! You could pick up a single player game. Tons of different ones and almost all single player games have pause and / or save in case you need to go on short notice without losing progress.
I can't believe no one said Free Rice! http://www.freerice.com/

Also Sudoku is a good way to pass the time.  Yahoo games has it, but you can find it everywhere.

A couple of years ago a friend recommended me Neopets www.neopets.com and I still spend some time playing loads of games there, but I admit that it can be quite addictive Smile My avatar comes from Neopets, btw.

I just tried freerice - it's addictive.  I didn't know I knew so many words.

freerice is suprisingly addictive.... got to level 35! woo

Neopets is pretty fun (even a couple mini RPG type games to play through in it). Tons of secret places too (that you cant find by just exploring the world)... but the best part is it makes you feel like you are accomplishing something by playing mini games heh.

Tell me about it... I'm just trying to complete Neoquest II on Insane level Laughing For the third time or so. But this time I shall emerge victorious! (and not get myself killed in Haunted Forest Smile)
