now feb01 2009... I have the same weight I had like 22 days ago.... 91kg, I have been eating good, and counting calories, I always go around my goal of 1750, but this last 22 days I have not lost a thing... if something I am gaining weight.

I started at 102kg, so that means I already lost 11kg ( 24 pounds or so ) but, I have been stuck on the 91... for so long in my terms, considering I lost the 11KG from october 2008, till jan 2009...

I mean I keep eating good and all, this is just to vent some frustration, normally I every week I weighted I saw a change down, but for the last 3 weeks, nothing.. maybe a bit up.. no idea.

Advices ? comments ?

Male: 33 - target calories 1750 - eating around 1500 to 1800 ( weekly average around 1650 ) height 1.75m

100% sedentary ! Undecided

If you're totally sedentary the amount of calories you need to maintain your weight are around 2000 per day.   On the other hand, if you move around at all for more than half an hour a day (walking etc.) then it shoots up to 2700.

If you're maintaining your weight on 1500-1800 and if you've been losing weight for a long time the most likely explanation is that your body has become used to managing on a little less food than it needs.  It's a very common thing to happen to long-term dieters, don't worry.  The metabolism slows down to match the food available.   A really simple solution is to have a day or two where you consume your full maintenance calories..... this boosts the metabolism.

An alternative explanation.... also quite common.... you're eating/drinking more than you think you are.  Keeping an accurate food diary where you weigh and measure portions rather than guessing would highlight if that was the case.

Another metabolism-booster is exercise.  If you can make the effort to get up and use your feet a little more then your starting point maintenance calories are 2700.  If you were more mobile you could lose weight on 2000 cals and probably see better/easier results...... plus it would be better for your general health, reducing your risk of Type II diabetes, cancer, heart-disease etc.   If you carry on being sedentary (out of choice? laziness? disability?)  you'd then have to drop to no lower than 1500 to keep losing any weight... not 1500-1800 I'm afraid.

This doesn't make sense. Just over half an hour of walking per day would not cause him to use 700 kcal more a day. More like 100 kcal more.

The walking itself would only burn 100 or 200 more calories at the time, perhaps.  But this man's resting metabolism would be higher for the rest of the day as well if he ran/briskly walked/swam/cycled/dug the garden..... for half an hour a day rather than simply sat....doing nothing... all day long.... letting the metabolic rate... slow........ r-i-g-h-t....... d--o--w--n.   (Know how cold you get if you sit immobile for long periods?  And how warm you can feel for hours if you do a workout?)  Regular exercise has more long-lasting effects than simply for the duration of the exercise.

I had a similar situation even before loosing 10% of the total weight. I started at 92.5 kg (203 lbs), lost 6 kg (13 lbs) in a month. The next month I lost only 1 kg (4.4 lbs). For some weeks, I was at 85.5 (188 lbs) but few days ago it started going down again and in 2 days, I'm down 0.9 kg (2 lbs). It seems like my body is adjusted to the new system and is cooperating with me. Hope you'll have the same! Good luck!
