What's a good protein smoothie recipe? What kind of protein should I use to put in it? Thanks!
Whey protein powder, non-fat milk, yogurt, orange juice, banana - I drink this three times a week. alternate with other fruit/berries.
Whey protein powder, non fat milk, frozen banana, rice cake or a weetabix a little bit of vanilla extract. Yummy.
Edit---
I use vanilla 100% Whey Gold Standard, I just got a tub of their Cookies and Cream protein, it is very sweet but also very tasty. For breakfast I'm using it with hot milk and fiber one, for a high protein, high fiber breakfast.
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (you can use nonfat/light whatever)
1/2 cup milk (you can use nonfat/light whatever)
1/2 cup to 1 cup Ice
1 small banana
1Tbsp natural peanut butter
1 scoop vanilla whey protein
dash of nutmeg
tsp of honey (I use local fresh honey)
Blend it all in the blender, I do all the ingrediants first eacept for the banana, then after the other is mixe dI through it in. Can be High in calories, but if you use light and lowfat stuff, and you can leave out the peanut butter. still tastes yummo!
I go easy way!
Any whey or soy protein; chocolate flavored (if you are a chick, you'll love tightcurves protein powder. It's SO YUMMY even just w water).
scoop o that
then a lil peanut butter
then a lil sugar free chocolate pudding mix (just the mix, not the pudding) for extra chocolate flavor.
ice
Blend and drink!
you can also use banana sugar free pudding, vanilla sf pudding, etc, to change the flavors of it. Take out the peanut butter or add diff fruits. I stay away from adding fruits cuz they have a lot of sugar, but a banana n pb chocolate one is great post workout!
My protien smoothie:
1 banana
1 C crushed ice
1/4 C unflavored soy protein isolate (can buy at any health food store. I prefer this over milk/whey protein because it's more protein bang for my buck. and I also just don't like milk/whey)
1 T unsweetened cocoa powder
1 T instant coffee powder, or 1 C brewed coffee or espresso if I've made that ahead
1/4 C soymilk (can sub in yogurt, or skip even)
1 C water
Stir all this up in the blender, then blend it up.
If you get the unflavored powder, you can experiment with your own flavors. For instance, I've used matcha green tea powder in place of the cocoa/coffee. And of course there's always the standby berries, etc, but they're not in season right now, and I like getting my morning coffee and breakfast all in one. For the moment!
Thanks for all the replies! I'm probably going to try all of these :)
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 frozen banana
2 tbsp. natural peanut butter

I use this same recipe, however I use 1 cup lowfat yogurt instead of the protein powder for a thicker, more filling shake
