What are some good, quick breakfasts?
Asked by bterminello on Oct 22, 2008 in Nutrition

I am college student living in the dorm, and I have almost no time for breakfast between classes.  I am looking for some  good breakfast foods that are quick but also nutrient and calorically loaded.

Answer

A quick breakfast is one that takes only moments to assemble or prepare in the microwave. A healthy breakfast is one that includes protein and fiber from foods representing three or more of the food groups.  Quick, healthy breakfasts include peanut butter and banana sandwiches on whole wheat bread or microwavable oatmeal with dried fruit and skim milk. Yogurt mixed with granola or wheat germ and fresh fruit, or cheese and crackers with fruit juice are other examples. Other options include liquid meal replacements, microwavable breakfast sandwiches, and breakfasts bars, although there is considerable variation in their nutrient content and so check the Nutrition Facts label.  Read more about healthy breakfasts at About.com.
