Not as good as I remembered....
Has anybody tried an old junk food favorite and found that it now tastes nasty? Tonight I decided to have a chocolate shake and some french fries from McDonald's.........I havent had either for about 6 months....they were always my favorites....but the fries had a nasty aftertaste and the shake didnt even taste like chocolate..... I dont feel guilty at all since I wont be over maintenance cals for the day, but I guess I'm kind of bummed. I guess I have been eating so much better that I just cant take that kind of food anymore, it is also now sitting heavy on my stomach.....yuck....I would have rather had popcorn or a piece of dark chocolate....

Yup. Found that too with a few things I used to love, including with the same foods at one point. You may also discover it will run through you like nothing other.
Yes, actually, what was it... maybe fried shrimp? Just didn't taste as great as I remembered. Still love the chicken fingers, but the fried shrimp isn't cutting it.
And yes, it makes my digestive tract upset, too, lalabanana.
well my stomach really hurts at the moment so I wount be suprised if it does go right through me....the sooner the better I'm thinking!!
Yes, I can completely relate. I used to love sugary, milky chocolate, but I've been hooked on the 99% stuff for such a long time that I really, really don't like the sweet stuff anymore. It tastes like a stick of sugared butter to me now.
Chinese takeaways.... LOL! Got very, very fat by being lazy and sending out for chinese takeaways at weekends in the past. I left them totally alone for 6 months because I realised I needed to get out of the habit. The day I finally caved and ordered my 'usual' I was absolutely shocked at how revoltingly greasy, salty and sugary the whole thing was. That was me cured!!
Oh yeah, I relate to this. I've been living on raw/fresh/low sodium/un-drowned foods for so long now that anything else tastes like pure salt, sugar, or grease.
I will still have junk in tiny portions, but my gut just wont let me eat the stuff like I use to. Fried food does not agree with me at all anymore. Even if it tastes good going in, I associate it with serious illness and start getting queasy on the first bite. On the extreme, I almost broke up with a guy because he frequently smelled like his McMeals. McGAG.
Unfortunately, I still have no physical objection to cheesecake, ice cream or Thai food.
It happened to me a few weeks ago with a bacon cheeseburger. over 1000 cal in one sitting, felt disgusting afterwards, and it wasn't as good as I remember. A good thing overall I guess. Decadent chocolate birthday cake this past Sunday did not have the same effect. THAT I enjoyed.
Its not really junk food, but full fat milk, literally cannot touch it now, it feels like thick whipped cream almost, I even dilute the skimmed with water at this stage! You could not have paid me to touch skimmed milk a few years back!
God I wish I didnt like anything greasy, sugary anymore.. its just knowing how much more food I can have for the same 'calorie cost' that doesnt make it worth it anymore, still love thai and chinese, and chocolate and ice cream and actually could be here a while.. :)
I can only hope I live long enough to find milk chocolate revolting, also hot fudge sauce, followed rapidly by a big juicy burrito deluxe. You give me hope girls because after nine weeks I am not there yet!
BUT DURING THOSE NINE WEEKS I HAVE NOT INDULGED IN THOSE THINGS LISTED ABOVE.............I JUST COVETED THEM IN MY HEART........LOL
YES. Buffalo chicken wings (WAY SALTY) and Movie theater popcorn (nasty tongue film!!!)
Milk chocolate - so sweet it makes me feel ill
But I still love dark chocolate - I usually buy the 70% one![]()
Have any of you seen that video on youtube about the 4year old mcdonalds cheeseburger? That would make you not want that kind of food real quick. BUt i personally have not experienced it.
I can safely say I've never experienced this :)
I'll always love french fries, pizza, and milkshakes. I had a milkshake after lord knows how long a few weeks ago and it upset my stomach...but it sure tasted great going down! It's just about not eating them every day for me.

I wish this would happen to me, everytime I eat stuff that i would consider old favorites, Im reminded about why they were my favories, cus they taste so great !!!!
Somethings so taste more salty than I remember them tho. BUt mostly they just taste amazing =(
I dont eat Mcdonalds or any other of the fast foiod type stuff tho.
I was just thinking this a few days ago. I was at the mall and decided to treat myself for my hard work and eating better by going to KFC (I had worked it into my daily calories). And, it was good but honestly not as good as I thought it was going to taste or that I remembered. Maybe it was because I just got the fries and not the poutine, LOL.
I have that reaction to pretty much any food that uses something other than good olive oil. And I get an upset stomack if I eat foods with too much "mystery" oils. Going out to eat is starting to become a problem. Chinese food-I used to love it, but I found it grossly salty-sweet the last time I tried it + I got sick. Coca-Cola-I used to love the stuff, could not live without it and I went cold turkey with it 5 months ago, I tried one sip yesterday and it was just so gross
.
Hey evil_lady_di Have you notice how coke (or any regular soda) just tastes like syrup??? I cant even detect flavors in it.... I had to take a swig of my husbands soda the other day to take some medicine.......YUCK!! Next time he is stopping so I can get some water!!
Darn.............it all still tastes good to me!
Argh! Why can't i experience that.
Chocolate still tastes just as good to me now as it did a year ago.
Although, the thought of being skinny is so much better.
I've also found a love for fruit though, which i never had before.
so. ,,,, mmmmmm
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
