Hi guys!

I know FISH contain lots of protein. i'm not so sure about chiken, beef, and pork (but i think they have lots of protein too. please correct me if im wrong).

my question is, what other food are good sources of PROTEIN (aside from the protein shake, okie? hehe).

like fruit or veggie rich in protein. anyone have an idea? thanks a lot! :D

Here is an article about good sources of protein.  As for me, I'm not a big meat eater, so I try to get my protein from other sources as well.  Sometimes I will have an egg or 2 (yes, I have the yolks - I, personally, don't have a problem with eating them) or nuts, or even peanut butter.  Soy can also be a good protein source, as well as yogurt (check the labels).

Here are a couple of other articles about good protein sources:

Also, if you have .pdf viewer (like Adobe Reader):

This file explains about the different kind of proteins, their importance, good sources and more.
oh thank you so much, dahhhling! ;p

Congrats on the weight loss!!  Keep up the great work!
hi ken,

i've been struggling with this lately, too; i love fish and chicken and the occasional steak, seeds and nuts, but i'm sick of my fat intake skyrocketing when i try to keep my protein up.

i'm turning to the vegetarians for help.  i was recently introduced to quinoa, and i'm very excited about that.  i'm going to start thinking about lentils and other legumes, too, but quinoa seems to be quicker to prepare, so doesn't require the same level of planning.

and there are lots of recipes here - just do a search!
Nuts actually have massive amounts of protein. I think I read some where that 3 pecans have the same amount of protein as a small filet of salmon.

I usually have a salad for a snack in between means and make sure to add almonds or pecans to it.
well, no.  a cup of pecans might have as much protein as a small (very small) salmon filet.  nuts are good, but not that good!
Tofu

Beans and legumes

Tuna

Egg white

fat free yoghurt

milk

Turkey chicken beef

nuts and seeds
Another great way to start your mornings off right is with a bowl of Kashi cereal.  The Kashi GoLEAN cereal has like, 7 grams of fiber, 13 grams of protein, is low in fat, and has I believe 140 calories for a cup of it.  It doesn't taste terrific, but kashi has other cereals that still have a good high rate of fiber and protein in them.  If you are looking to start the day off right, my favorite is Kashi's heart to heart cereal, which with 2 servings, I get about 10 grams of protein and 10 g of fiber.

I love Kashi!
My favorite snack lately is edamame. (soybeans) 1/2 cup = 108 cal, 4g Fat, 9 g Protein. I love them!
Most of the soybeans I've encountered say it's 120-140 cals for 1/4 cup. What brand do you buy?
The brand I buy is Southern Tsunami.

My other favorite snack is whole wheat crackers with cottage cheese. yummm!
oh thank you dahhlings for all the reply! ;p

Reading the ntrition facts of the foods i eat, i found these:

Oatmeal: 3-6 grams of protein per serving

Fresh milk: 6-8 grams of protein per serving

that's not a lot but it adds, too. ;p
most of the time i am busy... and not able to meet my protein requirements so i take whey protein supplement...and use it as a meal enhancement.... i workout everyday in the morning...and drink whey in for my breakfast... try it...
oh! i cup of peanut has more than 37 grams of protein! :D

unfortunately, it has lots of fats that come along with it! hehe. 50% of fats is saturated but there's also a sizeable amount of monosaturated and polysaturated fats :D

chicken and fish also has lots of protein. but chicken has too much cholesterol! hehe

ken
I found out as well that 1 lb of horse has 97 grams of protein in it! That's a lot! unfortunately, it has more cholesterol that comes along with it. so be sure to just eat it once in a while. ;p
Edamame

Get the frozen variety so you don't have to worry about spoilage, defrost a handful or two by running them under cold water.  sprinkle a bit of salt on them and nuke them for a minute or so.

Great snack, low cal, high protein.
Egg beaters!
(they are the best)

I also put the egg beaters egg whites into a fruit smoothie, I know it's kind of a protein shake, but tastes a whole lot better, and gets fruit into your diet :)
1 lb of horse!  Please tell me I read that wrong??  The thought of anyone eating horse is almost enough to make me a vegan!

You have to ask yourself.  How is a horse really different from a pig, cow or chicken.  Pigs are smarter than dogs, but we still eat them.  There are also cultures out there that eat dogs and cats.

I want to puke at the idea of eating bugs, but there are a lot of cultures out there that do (good source of protein when they don't have a lot of animals around).
