yeah, if want to, I'd be up for it. Right now I'm 190 and looking to come down as well. Let me know :)

Hi Lisa,

There's a group here called Keeping Accountable that you can join. There are less than 30 of us there, and while it's a bit slow now, hopefully things will pick up if more people join. I check in there every day. It really helps to have to support.

I hear your pain!

I am exactly where you and icouldbetheone are - 190 lbs, trying to get down to 135/140 (I'm 5'6, so I figure that's a good goal weight).

I have been trying for YEARS.... For some reason,  I can never get past 170, and then I usually give up and my weight balloons up again.  I am so sick of seeing picture of me looking like a whale.

This site has been good for me - writing everything down.  The problem is the weekends and/or dinners out with friends.  Even if I choose a healthy meal(s), I have to enjoy wine or beer with my company! - Does that mean I have another issue? :)  So I end up netting out my calories.

To make matters worse, I have been going to the gym/yoga at least three days a week - which seems to be helping with the slimming feeling - but my weight hasn't changed.

I desparately need a buddy to keep me on track.

yes, I definitely agree with georgeandoscar, writing down what I eat definitely helps. Before, I was mindlessly snacking, and whenever I would lose a few pounds, I would eat a little more to compensate, thus regaining weight. I'm proud to say these past few days I've been able to keep it to a minimum. And I've been eating a lot more fruit, like fresh pineapple, watermelon, raspberries, and plums, applesauce, and grapefruit in a jar. I desperately want to get down to the 140 range as well.

lisa10025, maybe you can compromise next time when you eat. If you like pizza, get a slice, but eat with a good amount of salad and drink it with water. And I know how you feel about the hot chocolate, I have a raging sweet tooth but now I'm learning to deny it. For now I have cut out sweet things like cookies, brownies, and cake until I can lose the weight, because I simply can't eat them in moderation right now. Maybe you can try something similar, like give up one sweet thing a week?

georgeandoscar, how is the yoga going? I've always wanted to try, but I'm not really flexible, haha.

lisa10025 and georgeandoscar, have either of you tried strength training? I just started by using some workout dvds and I have to say it's working out (no pun intended) well. I just started towards the end of last week and I have already lost a pound!

Keep me updated on your progress!! We CAN lose this weight.

I have started strength training.  I do it in addition to yoga.  There's a great gym in Boston called Life In Synergy - it is all classes.  It's pay as you go, and the instructors are fabulous.  In fact, the founder (who teaches two of my classes) has an on-line program that anyone in the country can join.  Check it out....  www.lifeinsynergy.com

I love yoga for so many reasons.  it helps with an injury, made me more strong and flexible :(), and is relaxing....  that said, I'm not particularly graceful at it, while clocking in at 185/190 lbs.  Ha!

icouldbetheone - congrats on the pound!! That is part of the frustrating part for me - I'm doing it, but not losing the pounds.  Urgh.  I guess I"ll just keep plugging away.

To satsify my sweet craving, I've been drinking diet root beer (A&W).  I know we generally should cut out soda because of bloating (I've never been a soda drinker anyway), but I find that a can of zero calories is better than a brownie or two!!

Good luck girls!  I'm so glad I found some motivators!

I hear you on the lack of motivation! Thats the hardest part- to keep it going.

I started at 195 lbs on January 1, now I am 170 and trying to get to 145. Completely lost my motivation in the past two months with family visits and all- am now getting back on track.

One things that never fails to motivate me is coming here and reading the motivation columns- even random posts, they make me feel less alone and more in control. Going shopping for clothes is also motivating in both a positive and negative way, but I can't do that very often.

Changing strategies helps too. I walk and bike, but have just joined swimming lessons to shake it up. (Plus wearing a swimsuit is going to be a huge motivator, or so I hope! lol)

Don't beat yourself up about losing track- commit to recommit, as they say here on CC, and keep going. Good luck to all of us!
