Ive been drinking tea for 4 years now. Ive been off and on between regular sugar and splenda. I dont want to use either one. Im not too worried about the calories- but i drink the tea for health benefits and energy and i would rather not use somthing that will defeat that purpose. Ive tried drinking it wihtout anything added but i want somthing to add to it that will make it taste better and is healthy for me.
Have you tried honey
Use a tiny amount of brown sugar?
I've been trying to figure that out myself because I am a big sweet tea person. I have read a lot about Agave Nectar or cane juice but I am unable to find it anywhere!!
Agave nectar has a nice sweetness to it, so that's something you might try. I also like to use a little fruit juice (especially pomegranate) as a sweetener in iced tea.
check out stevia!
Stevia, definitely. No calories, and is directly from the plant. So no weird chemicals either. I use the powder form, but it also comes in a liquid. It's excellent in tea.
I use Stevia right now. My only complaint is that you need 4 powder packets to achieve same results as one packet of Splenda.
thanks guys...i think im going to try stevia...i might try honey too.
Stevia is such a healthy sweetener with no calories, carbs & will not spike your blood sugar at all.
Sweetleaf Stevia & NuNatural Stevia are 2 of my favorites!
Pure stevia extract. I buy Herbal Select or Now brand. Forget the packages, they are a scam. Overpriced and not pure, they are loaded with fillers and little stevia. One tiny, tiny little scoop of the pure stuff is equal to about 1 tsp of sugar. There are 900 of these little spoonfuls in one small 28 gram bottle and it replaces about 13, 500 calories of sugar, brown sugar, agave nectar...etc.
