Goodmorning

Goodmorning everyone.  Hope everyone is well. let's see a little about me? I am 39 turning 40 in March. I have been married for 16 years now we have 2 beautiful kids. My daughter Kasey is 10 and my son Seth is 8.

As long as I care to remember I have always concidered myself fat. I work with a group of great women who support me with my weight loss. However they are all small women and I sometimes feel as if they can not know what I am going though or feeling. I eat when I am stressed, angry, sad you name it. I have tried a lot of different diets. The last one I was taking adipex with my Dr's approval of course. And I did lose 40 pounds, but I felt that they had stopped working even with the pills I was still hungry all the time. So I took a break and stopped the pills and now I have gained all my weight back.  I know that weight loss is a life change but I do not know where to start. I am hoping that with the help of this site I can find the begining to a new life.

Hello,

I am 32, single mother of two boys. My oldest is 14 years old and my youngest 18 months. One good thing you mentioned in your post is you realize you eat when you are angry, mad, etc. etc. I am also an emotional eater. Instead of eating when I get mad or angry I go walking. I also am counting my calories so I refuse to just eat, eat, eat. I am 5'4 and weight 220. My first goal is to lose 20 pounds and to tone up my body. My advice is when you feel hungry instead of eating find something else to do like clean up (as a mother I sometimes feel our job is never finish LOL). Another suggestion is to write down your emotions and why you feel compel to eat?!?

Blessings,

PNance

Hi stac1970,

I'm 49 and my weight has been up and down in great arcs my whole life. Its only in the last year and a half, or two years, that I finally feel like I am getting a grip on my emotional eating. Its not easy! At times, I will go on calorie count and read the forums instead of eating (like now). I have a good book to read always. A cup of warm tea will soothe my anxiety or hurt feelings at times.

The most important thing I have done has been to incorporate regular exercise into my daily routine. I work out an hour, 5 days a week at something fun. I mix aerobics, strength training and flexibility exercises together. And I change. I am always looking for that next thing - walking, jogging, treadmill, aerobics class, 25 minute workouts on the internet, pilates dvds, yoga and the infamous WII Fit.

The endorphins and increased serotonin from exercise gives me a feeling of well being that decreases the likelyhood that I will turn to food to comfort myself. The exertion calms me physically so I am less likely to have emotions running rampant. Then, when I do eat emotionally, its not so bad! I am exercising. My metabolism is up. I can get rid of the excess calories quickly. I have less guilt and conflict about it.  In two years, I have lost 35 pounds. I have 45 more to go and I know I will get there, slowly. I've changed my life.
