Gourmet Natural Cholesterol Management

Quote  |  Reply

I am Rob Leighton, founder of Kardea Nutrition,  dedicated to natural cholesterol management.   Kardea was founded as part of my personal efforts to reduce my high cholesterol without resorting to cholesterol-lowering medication.  The nutritional approach is powerful but it takes a fair amount of discipline to live it.  We are looking to network with the professionals on the front line that are on similar mission...for themselves and their patients.

Rob -- I am newly dx with DM2 and now just in the last 2 weeks have been dx with High Triglisterides, however my HDLs and LDLs are either with in range or low enough not to worry about them.

I too am looking for a way to naturaly change my eating habits so that it will fit my schedule, tastes and balanced fats. If you could shed some light on the subject would be helpful.

For high triglycerides (TG),  the natural treatment typically focuses on 3-4g/day of omega-3s from fish oils...for more info on omega-3s check-out the more recent posts at www.kardeagourmet.com.   Lots of recipes and data regarding natural cholesterol management at this site as well.  As for the appropriateness of your LDLs and HDLs,  lots of interesting questions here....but less than 100mg/dl for LDLs is considered optimum as plaque development appears likely to continue above this level....this certainly does not mean that medications are necessary, but you might benefit from a somewhat more aggressive approach to natural cholesterol management.   High TG also is associated with metabolic syndrome,  but this also is usually accompanied by low HDL which you indicate may be ok....but if this is the problem a lower simply carb (but not necessarily a low carb) approach may be merited.
