I moved to Columbia SC (the state capitol) in 2006. Gov. Sanford was already in office so I did not get a chance to not vote for him. As soon as the news broke that he was in South America I said "he was with a woman". No married man goes to Argentina alone (business purposes asisde) unless he's getting something muy caliente and I am not talking about food...LOL It is sad that he was cheating on his wife (I feel for her and their 4 sons) but I am not surprised since he has been screwing over the people of SC. The residents of this state so intent on holding onto their backward ways put this guy in office. The only lists that SC ranks high on are negative, ex. unemployment, education, HIV rates, etc. It's a shame because SC is really not a bad place to live.

He's a republican full of family values now isn't he?

When I read that he was gone because "he had some writing to do and needed to be away from the kids" I thought-- hmm, what sort of dad does that?  And goes off incommunicado?

Obviously he was communicado-ing in a different way---

I heard a discussion-- joke--- appropriately sarcastic paragraph between people on tv-- the other day about how Dems are always caught doing bad things with money (i.e. not paying taxes) and Repubs are always caught doing bad things with wee-wees (i.e. oh... a wider stance).  The rationale-- Dems come up poor (or at least being "told" they are poor... this analogy leaves a lot to be desired) and want the money they never had, and Repubs come up believing sex is dirty and sinful and therefore have none (or at least none they admit to).

So then there was something about teaching Dems how to lie and Repubs how to F*.

(it was more amusing when i heard it.  maybe you had to be there)

/hangs head in shame for her inabilty to be coherent.

best newspaper quote: "tea bagging is a republican family value."

I heard that joke you're talking about in #2. Can't remember who was talking about it or what show it was, but it was funny, and had a kernel of truth to it too.

If Republican values include the ability to write prose for cheesy romance novels, then, you 'betcha.

You laugh now, but just you wait.  Any day now you'll see a novel with Fabio on the cover and Sanford as the author and you'll be waiting in line to get your copy.

And...

reading it will make you throb in unexpected places.

That is the dirtiest non-sexually explicit sentence I've read in awhile... O_O

Oh man, that's bad. I couldn't finish reading it.

At least his wife wasn't standing there next to him as the sacrifice on the altar of his political career. Good for her.

Well, far be it from me to condone a guy for cheating on his wife and kids.  But I watched his press conference, and I felt for the guy.  I thought he handled it with as much class as possible, under the circumstances.

Oh I feel for the guy, too. Although he shouldn't have lied about his wherabouts.

Am hoping that voters stop putting so much emphasis on this crap and focus on what their elected officials do during working hours. And am also hoping that the GOP drops the family values mantra they seem to want to flaunt.

*pulls down me knickers and flaunts me family values in gator's direction*

Those are family jewels pavlovcat, not family values.

GOP will never drop the family values fringe.  Too bad.

I told my husband on the way home from work last night that Fox News would cover the story with a photo and/or discussion of John Edwards, and would talk about liberal hypocrisy.  Lo and behold, Ann Coulter delivered perfectly to script on Hannity.

Really?

Huh.

And for a governor to be M.I.A. for four days is really inexcusable...are things really running so smoothly in S.C. that he thinks he can skate for 4 days without anyone noticing?

SC is a great place to live if you have a job but HECK NO things are not running smoothly here! We rank #2 for the highest unemployment rate in the nation! Gov. Sanford has made the state workers take unpaid leave over the last few months. Teachers are being laid off yet he spent taxpayer money going to Argentina but it's okay because he is going to pay it back *sigh*

I'll bet he wouldn't have paid it back if he hadn't gotten caught.

That's what pisses me off - that he up and vanished for a week without transferring power to the lt. gov, so nobody was in charge.  Nobody knew where the hell he was, he was out of touch...what the hell?  If I did that at my job I'd be fired.  Why isn't he.  The neo-cons can bring up Edwards and Clinton as much as they want, but they enver up and vanished without leaving anybody in charge to go boink their mistresses.

When the possible excuse for where he was could coincide with "Naked Hiking Day", and that would be the BETTER option....just...wow.

As mentioned in an interview I heard, "There are junior high kids trying to get to third base that have more of a plan than this guy..."
