what are your thoughts on the 9/11 conspiracy theories?

im completely neutral.  but i was just wondering, does anyone know what the motive is for the government to do this in the first place?

no credible engineer even supports it, not one.

I watched the second plane fly into the tower with my own eyes.
omg dm84, that must have been rough...
The only one I believe very strongly in is that United 93 was shot down by fighter jets over an unpopulated area on purpose. The whole "Let's Roll" things was cuncocted as a coverup. That's just what I think...
the only one i can really understand (or potentially believe, not saying I do) is that our government knew what was going to happen but didn't stop it.  that theory has a lot to do with that infamous memo, and some people's understanding that no one followed protocol when commerical planes went off course.

as for why a government would harm it's own people...well that's a little too much to get into.  there are an infinite number of reasons why.

Its easier to make the country go to war after something like that happens. Even if the wars have nothing or very little to do with the attack in the first place. That's the only thing that makes it believeable.

A good chunk of this country would always say no to a war unless the enemies were fighting in their own back yard. And if that happens its almost too late to begin with lol. That's what makes the conspiracies believeable, and what gives it a motive somewhat.

But its a good thing to avoid reading too far into conspiracies. Everything that happens provokes something else to happen, and provokes some type of change. If the change is good or benifits someone, there will always be someone who thinks it was planned to begin with.. Which very well may be true, but its a waste of energy to think about it.

(Note: I was deep into that stuff before. I decided to drop it, though a friend of mine still stays deeply involved in it. I feel bad that I even introduced him to it because he's always afriad of things and worried about things he simply can't control.)
“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” --Hermann Goering during Nuremberg

Very true quote there. Though, after enough times of "crying wolf" the people seem to need more and more to happen for them to believe that they're being attacked.

I think the sad part is, after this Iraq and middle east thing ends (if it ends), nothing less than an attack will make people want to take action. If bush said "okay, now we need to go after [insert another threatening country here]"I'm fairly sure nobody would want to lol

At the time I didn't really know how to process it, in all seriousness.

No credible engineer supports the silly stories of squibs and dynamite at WTC 1, 2 and 7. But that doesn't rule out a conspiracy. For all we know, the CIA paid all the men on those planes to hijack and crash them and the rest played out like the "cover story". But there is no damning evidence that I know of.

But the Bush administration's behavior after 9-11, basically seizing on it as an excuse to make war where it wasn't needed and to crack down on civil liberties while shamelessly stoking the public's fear with talk of mushroom clouds is somewhat consistent with the way the Nazis behaved after they burned down the Reichstag and blamed it on the commies.

Personally, I've looked into a lot of this stuff, and never seen anything that made me convinced that the government was involved.

But there were certainly fishy things going on that day, and I wouldn't put ANYTHING past certain elements of our government.

But even the official government cover story is that there was a conspiracy - by some Islamic nuts to crash into the WTC.  Who knows who else might have been involved.

I don't really believe any of the conspiracies.

In reality, the only conspiracy that really even seems likely and possible is that, to so me extent, someone in our government allowed 9/11 to happen, but.... George Bush is no Franklin Roosevelt, so I have trouble believing that.

Bush (and his backers) paid billions to companies Diebold, Sequoia, SAIC, and ES-S through the "Help America Vote" Act, (which included the mandatory use in all states of the "Intelligible Voter Purge" system.. don't even get me started). Since 2005 these companies gained control of over 80% of votes through their electronic voting machines.

Diebold is owned by Bob Urosevich, who also oversaw the implementation of the programs used in the SAIC computer voting systems. Diebold's chief executive is top Bush fund-raiser Willy O'Dell.

Es+S, owned by Bob Urosevich's brother, Todd Urosevich (not kidding!)

Sequoia, owned by Madison Dearborn, partner to Carlyle Group, who greatly benefits from the war. They own the majority of shares in Bio-Port, the company that controls the United States supply of the Anthrax vaccine (the price of which SOARED after 9/11).

This just screams "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" to me.

Edit: Fixed typo

i could imagine, i mean when i first saw it, it was 100% surreal to me. it looked like a movie

guys idk what to do, ive totally been obsessing about this the past few days &my heart has been beating like crazy. idk why, but i feel at any moment im going to die..
I think most of us witnessing it felt it was surreal.  Weve gone to war plenty without being under attack physically plus the sheer destruction of life was a kick in the gut.  While its all specualtion, probably the hardest thing for me to imagine is what has played out that our government had no knowledge in advance.  Involvement, I dont know but no knowledge doesnt likely.
I love the Pentalawn 2000 but other than that, meh.
the thing that scares me the MOST is that

even if our government didnt do 9/11; they could do it AND get away with it :(
I seriously doubt that the current government could pull that off and get away with it.

I agree with this. They haven't exactly been capable of keeping the wool over our eyes regarding.. wire-tapping, lack of proper intelligence in Iraq, Valerie Plame or any of the other screwups they made. People keep leaking stuff and they get caught.

I agree with the last two posters. I think the only conspiring was done by "some Islamic Nuts" (Keeping in mind though, those "nuts", in other words terrorists, constitute only a small portion of the Islamic world).  Conspiracy or not, it doesn't lessen the fact that it was a sucker punch, at least for most of us. I truely believe that EVEN if "someone", other than the terrorists I mean, knew about the threat, I doubt anyone in this country would have either believed them or done anything different.   Not out of any great scheme, merely an innocence that youth so wonderfully exude. We were in a "nothing can touch us" mentality. That has certainly changed, we grew up fast, but I do worry that people will forget the horror and the pain and the resolve to never allow this to happen again. Apathy, if you will.
