Ok, I had a VERY bad day today. I mean I ate very bad stuff. My breakfast was normal and I got an A after it. But I had to go to a taco bell for lunch and had 2 steak quesadillas, which put me already at a pretty high number of calories. However, to my surprise, my grade after that was not that bad: I still had a A!
Then in the afternoon, I took a small strawberry frappuccino at Starbucks and my grade went down a bit: A-
After my pasta dinner, I am still with a A-
Why do I get a good grade after this terrible day?

I was wondering the same thing, I binged out on Mcdonalds the first day that we had it and I got an A- too. Maybe it has to do with breakfast? For breakfast, I tend to have a huge serving of special k, two cups. Maybe it is all the vitamins? Im interested to see what others will say about theirs, as well. In the meantime, HEY you got an A, right? Good for you!
I had DelTaco/w.some fries and it stayed on an A. Yesterday was pretty much healthy foods, but I only got an B.
So what's going on?

yup. That's weird. At least we are aware there's something wrong and that we did not eat right. That's a good thing
It's nutrition that's being graded, not calories. You ate nutritious, good-for-you food, just too much of it.
Yesterday I checked my grade each time a added a food to make sure I was in balance and eating right. Before, I'd just check calories and sodium

I went from a B grade to an A- grade by eating a low fat yogurt for my snack last night.
My story is so much the same... for breakfast I had a Weight-Control oatmeal with a slim fast (both of which are loaded with vitamines) and I basically had the exact same thing for lunch. For dinner though, I had 2.5 slices of pizza (frozen, not ordered out) and about five chocolate chip cookies. My grade was still at an A. I know my breakfast and lunch helped a lot, but pizza? cookies?? Is this correct?
Yeah, not to sound like an echo, but its the NUTRITIONAL VALUE of your food (vitamins, minerals) that are being graded, not the caloric intake of it all. The only thing that's going to bring it down really is the fat and sodium in stuff, which is easily balanced out by some other stuff.
Maybe we should get a grade for our calorie intake. :0
Yeah, let me just echo what a few others have said here.
A good grade does NOT mean you will lose weight.
It looks at the average of your individual foods (currently with all items equally weighted, which we will soon be changing), it does not analyze your total intake.
We are still adjusting many parameters with this system and would like your feedback. If you see grades that look weird please let us know.

Yes, I know it has nothing to do with the amount of calories, but I definitely did not eat nutritious, good-for-me food. It went to taco bell and starbucks!
I just thought that was abit funny to get a good grade after that :)

Thanks plume - I'll have a look! There are *definitely* kinks in our system...all the testing in the world can't prepare for letting it loose in the real world =)
UPDATE: I've found a fairly big bug with manually entered items throwing off the average. Will be fixing this today, so your grades will probably change!

Update here....we've reworked the grades and you may notice your grades from the past few days have changed.
I was wondering how the grading system does work. I've always been told by every trainer that I've ever worked with that Chicken is very good for me. And several times I've had to eat chicken at practically every meal. On the flip side I've been told by everyone that while red meat is good for you it has some bad qualities and that I should limit my intake to 2 times per week. But in the rating system a Skinless, boneless plain chicken breast has a "B" rating while a well chosen sirloin has an "A" How can that be?
mmmmmm...Taco Bell and Starbucks!!!
(oops...sorry...was daydreaming a bit)

I wish a little hand would pop out of the screen and smack me when my sodium is too high.
I, for one, would like to see a scoring system based on all aspects of our diet - nutrition and the balance thereof AND calories. I know @ 833 cal per day I am off base just as much as if I were to eat 5000 cal. I would just like it to show up in my score as I am an achivement orientated person and anything less than an "A" is failure to me.
