*treads carefully around atilla the hun*

hey, um, when you're adding your food to your food log, you can click that little oz. link and it will switch it to ounces for you

and I know you don't want to know this but a gram is like a paperclip, so 100 grams would be like 100 paperclips.... and I realize that foods aren't much like paperclips, especially with moisture content and whatnot....

so use that oz. link!

also, as an aside, you might want to be aware that marauding, raping and pillaging is quite frowned upon on this site

Wink

If you click the button at the bottom of the entry, you can change the number to ounces... one ounce is 28grams btw.

Many people in the USA couldn't tell you what an ounce looks like, or how many ounces are in a pound. The other day my friend forgot how many feet are in a mile.

The English system sucks. It's illogical.

Thanks for the help.   My frustration stems from trying to figure calories in the following.

1 cup of red beans cooked

1 piece of corn bread,  3" x 3"

Attila pillages where he pleases,   lol

Hey, I'm from Canada, Metric Land, and I hate seeing grams too! I have no clue what any of it means, I still convert to imperial. I may be able to switch to ounces when I enter a food, but on the food log it always shows up as grams--if I forget what I entered, I have to go through the process again to find out how many ounces of food I ate. Is there a way to set your account so it shows on the food log in ounces or metric?
I'm from Australia and I'm so glad that things are in grams because I haven't a clue about ounces. But whatever it is, it's easy to convert. Just google "#grams in ounces". EASY. Don't have a cow.
MAGEE  my exact point.  It sucks.  And I'm too old to have a cow, maybe a kitten.
Grams rule! The metric system is so much better than imperial. When I was a kid we were told the US was going to go metric! That was 40 years ago, so what happened? What are they waiting for? The imperial system is stupid, converting length to 32nds, for example. All those fractions, with metric it's just a push of the decimal point.
Go, grams, go! What the heck is an ounce? Is it a volume? A mass? Both? With grams, you know there's no chance it's a volumetric measurement. No confusion. Yay metric!

An ounce is about this big and weights about that much.

We love our ounces,  miles and inches and were not going to change, maybe.

I don't know why we (the USA) didn't convert back when they told us we were going to.  It would make life so much easier if we were on the metric system.  Inches, ounces, and miles suck.  Teaspoon and Tablespoons! Don't get me started.

I think more Canadians are "bilingual" in terms of measurements, living in a metric country next to an imperial country, than in terms of language (parlez vous what?). Ser25, are you showing your age? Wink Most people my age still think/convert to imperial; we were the change-over generation.

Sunkissed, with 2 dogs, 2 cats, I've no room for a cow. Wink

Switching from a logistics company in Switzerland to the Canadian branch I was forced to learn imperial because our customers give us their shipment details in a myriad of combinations:

Umm... our box is 25 kgs and the dimensions are 1ft by 2ft by 20in!

Or I have a 1500lbs crate measuring 120 x 125 x 200cm

At the beginning I had a lot of WTF!!! reactions everyday, at least stick to one of the two systems. How hard can it be to keep feet, inches and lbs together and separate from cm, m and kg.

Now that I'm "fluent" in both I still prefer metric but will use imperial depending on who I talk to. Regardless of Canada having adopted the metric system, some generations don't know.

But it really doesn't matter and I find it an interesting cultural aspect of my chosen second home country.

Honestly what is the reasoning behind making a measuring unit for 28grams (an ounce)? Why not keep nice and mathematical.

So I'm guessing Attila I'm opposing your battle against metric.  ;-)
