i love grapefruit, it's great breakfast food. last weke i bought white grapefruit, and this week i tried red.

i couldn't help but notice that for 230g of white grapefruit it's 83 calories and for 230g of red grapefruit it's 97. why is this?

it's not bothering me or anything, and it isn't harming my calories.. but i was just curious, really.

I love grapefruit too and I am no expert but I have noticed over the years that red are much sweeter than white normally, so my guess is that they contain more natural sugars than the whites which would account for extra calories from it. I had two yesterday during my son's early morning baseball game while sitting on the sidelines after my workout---some peoplle made comments (nice ones) but no one appeared shocked--I think healthy eating is becoming more commonplace for people these days :-)

i noticed the red ones taste sweeter too, so i guess that must be why. thankyou!
