The Greatest Sandwich Known to Man

***Note anyone can eat this sandwich however slight modifications might have to be implemented depending on the individual’s dietary needs.  You should not attempt to eat this sandwich if you are driving or operating machinery as it may cause an indescribable feeling of euphoria upon ingestion, which could cause an accident.  There is a risk of dependency after ingesting this sandwich, there is no need to contact your medical doctor, this is perfectly normal...

1.) Take two slices of bread, whatever your fancy, I prefer something multi-grain.

2.) With one slice of bread add peanut butter to one side.  Type of peanut butter is up to you, I prefer creamy.  You want to evenly spread it over the bread, as for how much peanut butter to use, it is up to you.  I prefer a lot.

3.) With the other slice of bread add jam to one side.  I prefer grape or blueberry (sugar-free), but its all about personal preference- choose whatever jam your heart desires.  As for how much?  Ratio is key here, I like a 2:1 PB-jam mix.  So I go a little lighter on the jam, but again its up to you.

4.) Then you take both said slices of prepared bread and *sandwich*them together.  And viola you now hold in your hands what some people think this is just a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but I think it is arguably one of the greatest sandwiches known to man...

*Sandwich- the process of combining two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between

Do you agree?

If we're going with a PB sandwich, I'd have to argue that banana, not jam, is the perfect accompanying filling.

Aside from that, a muffaletta from Viviano's is a close second.

I do like banana and peanut butter as well, but i like sugar free strawberry preserves just as equally. But I do agree that sandwiches are great and your instruction on making a PB and J is exceptional :)

peanut and banana make me itchy inside so i have to go without, though they are amazing...especially toasted :) instead, nutella and a bit of honey or maple syrup in between toasted whole grain bread....wow...amazing!!

Sandwich making, like cooking, is an art.  One small error like the spread ratio, and it could mean the difference between glory and garbage....

try some PB, banana slices, maybe a little strawberry jelly, and drizzle some choc syrup between two slices wheat bread and stick in a panini grill...not the healthiest but its yummy!

Sounds good but how about PB and Marshmellow fluff.  Awsome!

Blech. Peanut butter is nasty! I would go for a big wholegrain sandwich with lots of salad, a pumpkin spread and some roast chicken. Yum!

PBJ is definitly a staple of mine too. The flavored peanut butters are really great - helps with the variety thing.  I personally like orange marmalade, cherry or blueberry preserves and blackberry jam. Though whats also really good is plain crunchy or smooth peanut butter with grated carrot or thinly sliced apple.

The ULTIMATE PB&J sandwhich consists of two toasted slices of 12-grain bread so that the peanut butter gets all melty. Sometimes I just have one slice with pb or if im really hungary ill do the full sandwhich with grape jelly. YUM!

Wow!  I looked at this post (at lunch time, no less) thinking I would find some great revelation, and I have to say I'm tremendously disappointed.  Sorry, but if you think a PB&J sandwich is "The Greatest Sandwich Known to Man," I would say that perhaps you should take a poll of MEN'S opinions!

I didn't take a poll, but I did read in some magazine, that this was the most popular choice pick of sandwich among the men polled.  That didn't spark me to make the post, I just really wanted a PB and J, unfortunately I have no jam...

Never in my life have I been able to choke down a PB&J sandwich. I love peanut butter flavored foods, but the texture of actual peanut butter gets my gag reflex going & I just can not get it down.

While others grew up eating PB&J, I grew up eating fried bologna sandwiches....soooo good!!! :-)

i love pb, but i'm not always the hugest fan of the j.

I must say, pb+j sammiches are definitely scrumdiddlyumptious.

Peanut butter, for one thing, is of my favoritest foods ever.

And then combined with an AllFruit spread...and mashed together between some good brand of bread, this makes a fabulously awesome sammich.

Yum!

Same here haha.  Too sweet...have you tried microwaving fruit on top of the pb tho?

i like jam once in awhile, but i'd much rather have a sandwich made with just peanut butter. and yes, i have microwaved fruit on top, it's pretty good! :)

Aparently in the UK they don't like PB & J. My English friend tells me its an abomination of sandwiches.

I think they're insane...

The best and weirdest pb and j sandwich i have made had:

crunchy pb

banana

nutella

and honey.

Slather on the butter and grill. Yum!

I'm a peanut butter addict and I've just gone 2 days without PB because avocado and tomato sandwiches were taking up too much of my fat quota. But PB is on for tomorrow!

I like PB on toast by itself, withbananas, or with black currant jelly. I even like it with marmalade, and jam, of course, is an option. Plus honey is a big favourite.

And I much prefer natural, 100% peanuts PB. With a bit of salt.
