greek salad at panera?!?!
so today was my last day of school, (YAY) and i went to panera. i had the greek salad, but now i am really really mad/confused. here is what cc says http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/63381.htm l .
520 calories!!!! o.O that can't be right tho. the salad was lettuce, onion, maybe 1/2 a tomato, olives adn feta cheese. i didnt eat the olives or most of the cheese adn i didnt have any dressing.
what is going on here? should i jsut guess on the count? can someone please enlighten me?
EDIT: this is the panera site for it: http://www.panera.com/menu/nutrition/profile. php?id=105. i guess 520 is right, but what should I log?

It was probably all the feta that brought the calorie count up. Since you say you didn't eat most of that or the olives, I wouldn't worry too much.
since you didn't have the dressing or most of the feta I bet it isn't that much. I think the best way to log it will be to estimate the amounts of the ingredients you did eat and log them in separately.
congrats on your last day of school!

littlefroggie you have to use some common sense. If you didnt eat the olives feta or oil dressing, and you mostly ate lettuce tomatoes and onion it was probably 100 cals at most. sorry if this seems harsh---but it doesn't take a brain surgeon
I would say over 200 calories(my "light" estimate) was olives and dressing -- Full fat feta cheese is only 75 calories per ounce and that's over 1.5 cubic inches of the cheese (pre-crumbled) that's a lot! I like feta a lot - but can't put more than about 3/4 an ounce max on anything (usually about half an ounce seems like a lot on a huge salad)
remember, don't count what you don't eat -- look up greek dressing, look up olives - estimate how much was there, and subtract from the total.
enjoy your break from school!

um another panera question here! how much would you estimate the bread that they give you with the soup? how many cals do you think it is? thanks
Wow zombie, maybe you could have put that a little nicer?
But I agree, If you did not eat it the way it is counted on the site, than you have to subtract for what you did not have on the salad. My guess is that the bulk of the cals would have been in the dressing.
falling, this site has most of Panera's items on it. Just look up the type of bread you got.

The bread they give you is either french baguette or whole grain baguette.
Here is French:

Whole grain isn't on the site so I looked it up on the Panera website and put it in my tagged items (I eat there a lot!).

heyyy panera really isnt too horrible for you (besides the pastry which rack up the calories). I work their part time.. and to help you estimate how many calories you consumed.
Well for an entire greek salad with NO dressing it is 230. That is the technical approximation but you didnt eat the olives & some cheese.. so probaly less I dont know how much you ate, but that is the technical approx.
i would say 180-200 (without olives & lesser cheesse.. thats a guess)
good luck
