Greek Yogurt - Need Ideas!
I decided to try greek yogurt because most other yogurts are very high in sugar. However, the rating for Chobani Non-fat Plain Greek Yogurt is still in the 'C' range. What gives?
My label says for an 8 ounce serving:
Calories: 140, Total fat: 0, Sat fat: 0, Cholesterol 0, Sodium 95mg, Total Carb: 9g (sugars), Protein: 23g
How can this have a rating of C or less??
Also, could you give me some ideas of ways to use it??
Greek yogurt is perfectly healthy.. I would judge the healthiness of your foods based on the stats, not the rating system. It can be a bit off sometimes.
Boston93 is absolutely correct. The rating system is generally good, but has some flaws. I have noticed that many foods that are dense in calories, but still very healthy (if you eat a proper serving) tend to get low grades.
I hope you enjoy the Greek yogurt - it is one of my favorite foods!
I looove greek yogurt. I have it everyday just about.
~with dried figs, honey, trail mix/almonds
~with chopped apple, honey, cinnamon and shredded wheat
~ with peanut butter and jam
~with granola
~with dried cherries and nutella
~ with ground flax, dried fruit, chocolate chips
~ made into Birchermuesli (oats soaked overnight in juice, milk or water - stirred into yogurt with chopped or grated apple, almonds, a bit of honey maybe and some raisins. But really - you can add anything you want to it. I usually add granola, peanut butter and banana too for the extra calories due to having to gain weight.)
Because its creamy but unsweetened you can also use it as a replacement for sour cream on things like baked potatoes, potato wedges, nachos... or whatever else you would use sour cream :)
Blend 1/2 cup greek yogurt, 1/2 cup milk and 1 cup of frozen mango. It's like ice cream....Top w/ fresh berries...
Greek yogurt is very good for you it has hardly any sugar acualy probably none. I have it everymorning with chopped banana and raspberries and honey or with my cereal as a replacement to milk
