Green Tea Extract and Birth Control?

Hey everyone,

I picked up a bottle of green tea extract pills the other day, and I was reading the lable - it mentions to use caution if you have a list of illnesses, but also if you're taking birth control. Does anyone know what the connection is here? I'm on the pill (Alesse), and I'm wondering if I should avoid the green tea pills. Does it make the bc less effective? Run a risk of real physical damage? Anyone know?

does it increase your metabolism? if it does then it might cause your birth control to be metabolized by your body faster and therefore making less effective b/c its not in your system long enough. 

My best guess is it has to do with blood pressure.  Like they tell you not to take the pill if you;re a smoker cause the risk of high blood pressure is greater.  Green tea extract has A LOT of caffeine so maybe there is a correlation there having to do with BP.  I am definately NOT an expert and not even sure but if I had to take a guess I'd say it has something to do with that.  Any  of you health professionals on here know the answer?
