I hear a lot of talk on here about green tea. What do you like about it? How has it helped you?

Green tea with Jasmine for me!

I also have a friend who swears by Peppermint tea to help with bloatedness after meals.

I just like the taste, the fact it is caffeine free, (I don't have caffeine in the evenings).

It's meant to help with appetite suppression, but not sure about that. I was also wondering if anyone finds they are still thirsty after hot water? Or just me?!?!

I think green tea is actually naturally caffeinated, yours might be decaf though Smile

I like the fact that it's refreshing, light and I don't get the urge to put 10 tonnes of milk in it!! I'm a huge fan of green tea & jasmine too, but I like the fact that you can get so many different varieties, current faves being green tea & apple and green tea & orange.

That said...I do hanker occasionally after a nice strong english breakfast tea...something which is difficult to find here in Sweden...I have to get my mum to post it over!! :o)

Tazo's do decaffeinated green tea in a whole range, I think Im addicted to that now thou instead of coffee! ha ha.

I really like green tea with peppermint - it's "sweet" but with zero sugar - I think it's a nice light caffeine pick-me-up.

I have tried, really tried, to like green tea, but it still tastes like grass soup to me.

green tea with a splenda or two have really helped me not eat when I'm hungry (or when my brain just thinks I'm hungry).  I have both the caffeinated and decaf so if I'm in the mood for it at night I won't be up for hours.  I don't even like coffee now that I've gotten so used to green tea (and I was a HUGE coffee lover).  Also, I hear green tea has a lot of antioxidants.

I just want to know.  Does anyone have the true story on Green Tea?  Is it good for you and does it help you lose weight? Tongue out

 Embarassed Same thing here.

Hmm it's like everything, coffee, red wine, dark chocolate - all these articles and news blasts are so confusing.

One will say it's good, next will say not so good.

Could also be a placebo effect as well working with Green tea.  If we read it is good for us, we think it is?

Everything in moderation?!?! that old adage.

Personally, I dont think it can help me to lose weight.  It's just a good feel drink to accompany an attempt at a healthy, balanced diet :-s

I love it...I simply like tea, period though.  I don't drink it for any health reason, just flavor (and the fact that it's a 0 calorie beverage).  I usually make mine iced :)

a study was done to find out exaclty if green tea is good for health and if so how much. They discovered that it does indeed have thermogenic benefeits but you need to drink seven cups a day for it to have a noticiable effect. Personally i do LOVE green tea and i drink a cup with every meal, it makes me eat slower and enjoy more. I also enjoy it throughout the day on breaks.

Green Tea  with Citrus. That's the only one I drink. I want to try other but is afraid it might taste very bad. I did taste another brand that wasn't lipton, and it tasted awful. It was nasty.

I take green tea supplements... they are supposedly good antioxidents and help with weight loss.... and you can't possibly drink all that tea!

It has lots of polyphenols, which are really good antioxidants. It is a great way to get caffiene and it is much more gentle than coffee.

It tastes good too, but I usually put a LOT of milk and sugar in it, so it pretty much tastes like milk + sugar + a little leafy, earthy taste to me

I have tried to like green tea.  I think it would be good for my cholesterol, but it seems to hurt my stomach.  I always feel yucky after drinking it, so I have yet to be able to enjoy it.  I guess I will give up and try something else.  :(

Green tea is meant to boost the metabolism, i dont know how much you'd need to intake to get a significant effect, but I always a cup in the morning :)

and peppermint tea is lovely too :)

basically they're better alternatives to normal tea cause they're caffeine free. And you can get them in tons of flavours now, I Like all the twinings ones, like peppermint and eucalyptus and stuff. Plus its proper warming if you've been out in the cold lol.

 about 7 tea cups.

Hey Hungry I think you may be drinking your green tea to strong try to brew it lighter  sometimes if i leave the bag in any tea to long i can get a sour tummy.

I am a huge tea fanatic and so I generally drink some kind of tea with all of my meals.  I buy big bottles of Arizona diet green tea regular or decaf makes no difference to me and drink that with meals.

Then when I want something warm I go into my special stock of loose teas and make something really special like a rose flower tea or some oolong tea or even just some plain old PG tips tea.

It really soothes me and I love the taste.  I am not a big water drinker, so it is ideal for me.

Whether or not it has helped with weight loss, I have no idea.  I've never gotten dangerously overweight while drinking it, but it was not a miracle weight loss cure or anything like that.
