Green Tea, Protien Shakes Etc.

Quote  |  Reply

Does anyone drink Green Tea, does it really help aid in weight loss? Or am i better off sticking to Water? Also does anyone have any other good beverage suggestions, theres only so much water you can stand a day. I have tried the little 20oz water bottle drink flavorings and love the pink lemonade other than that i am clueless. Also what about protien shakes does anyone know anything about them?

Green Tea Definately does help with weight management and can add a little flavor to your diet because I agree water does get pretty boring. As far as protein shakes, I swear by them. You should find protein that has a good balance of Carbs-Protein-Fat. Usually Under 5 grams of Fat, about 20-25 grams of Protein and Low in Sugar is your best bet. I recomment Syntha Six or Dessert with come in red containers and are made by BSN, they are extremely good for you and taste excellent, they come in flavors like mint chocolate chip, cinnamon roll, mochaccino, etc. Whey Gourmet also has some really good flavors and still provide the nutritional benefits! So 1-2 scoops with water and some fruit is great after a workout or a meal replacement or an in between snack. Hope this helped!

Just curious can you get the whey gourmet you mentioned a GNC or do i have to look on-line?

The lovely thing about (green) tea is that it comes in so many flavours which you can alternate. You can squeeze a slice of lemon/orange/grapefruit in your tea or water for extra flavour. Also, if you are looking for something a bit different, try black tea with a splash of skimmed milk, and lots of cinnamon - served hot, it is to die for.

I don`t know about those water flavourings, but if they are very sweet, it may be a good idea to steer clear of them. Trust me, if you go for a week without drinking or eating super sweet stuff, you end up appreciating the more subtle natural flavours, such as that of unsweetened tea, and not missing that excessive sweetness at all. In fact you may even develop a distaste for it, as you will realize it masks the true aroma of things.

Can`t help you much with the protein shakes, but I`m sure someone else around here will. :) All I know is that unless you`re trying to bulk up by performing heavy physical activity, which requires a very high daily intake of protein, you`d most likely be better off getting your protein from natural sources: lean meats, especially fish (rich in good fats), or beans if you are a vegetarian. The advantage that real food has over dietary supplements is that it is packed with lots of other super healthy stuff for your body, and this fact (alongside with the satisfaction you get from actually eating it) can only aid you in your weight loss journey.
