Green Tea vs. White Tea
So I was just wondering which one was technically "better" for you. I got in a fight with someone at work (a friendly fight
) because I was drinking green tea, and he insisted that white tea was much better than green tea, because it had everything green tea had, plus more antioxidants. Just wondering if anyone knew anything about it!
Thanks

I know that both green and white tea are good for you. As far as which one is better... well all I can say is that they both come from the same source. Yet, white tea is the most pure. My step mother who is a health nut swears by tea and continuously tells me to drink white tea. Ofcourse, she is speaking of plain white tea. She told me to get one that I like the taste of so that I do not have to add sweetener. Naturally, any tea that you don't add sugar, sweetner to is better than one with. Also, I am not sure about the cold lipton green tea in the bottles... does it have any artificial sweetner, calories, etc? I just brew the tea myself and sip on it hot at night time. To me it is great that way.
White tea is actually just a certain bud of the green tea bush.
Hope this helps.

Actually white tea is just purer green tea, as mini_mary stated above. But katy_doll you were right in mentioning about the buds, as white tea is a mix of buds and leaves while green tea is only leaves.
All teas come from the Camilla sinensis bush and they're oxidised for different times. White tea is 'better' for you in a sense because it's a step before green tea; however, it's super expensive. I think in general you'll get loads of health benefits just by drinking green tea and not spending too much money!
Check out the Wikipedia article on tea here.
Edit: input some more information.

if you read wikipedia's analyzation of the camellia sinensis plant, you'll see that green tea has the highest concentration of antioxidants, although they are also present in black and white teas.
