Hey there everyone, let's introduce ourselves and get motivated. This is just a place where we as team members can come to and ask questions, offer help, cheer each other on or whatever you feel like. Let's all make every weight in! If we have the support of each other we can come out on top of this challenge.

Hi everyone!

I look forward to getting to know everyone on the green team.  I'm hoping this challenge will be the kick in the butt that I need.  I started with CC in Sept 07 and did pretty good until about July 08. I was down about 40 lbs but started slacking off and ended up gaining back about 20 lbs.  I've now recommitted myself to logging daily and exercising.  I seemed to do the best when I was participating in challenges so I'm back to try another.

I've added everyone to my friends list. Feel free to add me as a friend and PM me anytime.

Hi all. Hoping to make some new friends with this challenge (and lose some weight too, of course).

I found CC in March 08 but it only lasted about a week. Finally decided to take my health into my own hands for once in my life in October and have lost 25 pounds since. 50 more to go. Now that I have my eating under control and I am starting to exercise more, I decided to give up smoking. Just finishing up day 2. I did have one smoke today, but I coughed for 15 minutes straight. Definitely not worth it.

So January will really be tough on me. Hoping everyone here will help me find the strength I need to make my life healthier and happier. Can't wait to meet everyone! (P.S. - Welcome to 2009!)

Hello Everyone,

I am at a place in my life that warrants a change. I am a married 45 y/o mother of two young men that are both in the military and step-mother to a son in the Air Force and daughter just finishing college. My oldest is in the Army Special Forces and will leaving for his 4th deployment soon. My youngest just left for Air Force basic training this past Monday, can you say a very empty nest!

I injured my back in 2002 and in the process gained 60 lbs. I was (in the zone) just before the accident occurred, going to the gym 5 days a week, I WAS in the best shape of my life when that accident occurred.  I was getting back into a great routine and losing the weight when I fell Dec 07 on some ice injuring my neck and re injuring my back. I ate, took medication, got depressed and ate some more.

So here I am 71 lbs over weight, feeling better and given the AOK from my doc to get back into the gym with the guidance of my physical therapist! I am so ready for this..... watch out everyone I am back!!!

Hello All,

It's great to be a member of Team Green.  I'm sick of being fat.  A couple of years ago I lost 50 pounds and...you guessed it...promptly gained 50 pounds.  I did it once and I can do it again - plus some, I hope.  I can remember how much better I felt and things I could do that I can't do now.  I look forward to being a 'loser'.  Go team!

Hi!

I'm trying to lose weight since I was 13. Luckily this time will be for good.

Good luck to all of us!

Hello Green Team! Challenges have been a great motivator to me, so I'm positive this one will keep me on the right track. And nothing like buddies for support and motivation.

I joined CC in September 08 and have been eating better and exercising since May 08. My starting weight in May was 255 lb. My son was born 7 years before and I kept adding to the baby weight. Not to mention that I was never thin to start with. My weight was mostly around 185-190. My current weight is just below 190, so I'm back to my before baby weight, now it's time to go beyond and have a healthy weight once and for all. I would like to lose 35-40 lb. The good thing is that I go to the gym at least 3 times a week and I've never been fitter than now. I might have been thinner at a certain point but never really physically fit. It's a lot of work but it feels great and it's a great mood booster.

This past two weeks have been tough on the exercise and eating program but on Monday we're back to the routine and no more Holiday excuses. We're on and one, green team. Let's do this!!!

Ok, this is the condensed history (the full one is on my profile) 2002 - 240 and cut!, knee injury, doc told me do nothing, can't just quit eating 6 times a day, up to 300 in under 6 months, light and limited (Navy term) for little over 3 years, cleared to work out Dec 05, started working out at 350lbs! tried what the doctors nutritionalists and trainers said for a year and lost only 20 lbs, got fed up and went drastic, ate 1500 or less calories a day, gym 6 days a weeks, lost 45 lbs in two months, kept losing down to 265, ANOTHER knee injury, 8 months after injury finally had surgery (Nov 08), even though I was pretty much out of the gym for 8 months only gained about 15 pounds, walked 3 days after surgery, gym 2 weeks after surgery, lost 7 pounds so far, and just started my third challenge in a row. Yes, this is my third one the last two I did while injured and didn't lose a whole lot. This is the one I am going to kick in the butt and hoping to get back down to at least 265. My personal goal is 250, that will make 100 pounds lost. I will be happy with 250, but would love to get back to 200 even.

I know we can have the top team, and we are going to beat the socks off of the Orange and Black teams! Gdumm - his wife has already got me fired up. Sorry G, I read her post on the Orange team thread and she said that "my new goal in life is to beat the Green Team and makea loser!" Well, lets see G will be a loser but not on the losing team!

Augette - Hey there and Welcome! I try to get on here each day and put a motivational "theme for the day" so check back often. I had a hard problem with logging my food also, but then I adopted a saying of "Write it before you bite it!" It has helped me out so that may be something you could try.
P.S. You are added to my friedns list!

Lilygirl1970 - If you don't lose any weight, I am coming for you! No not really! Truthfully though if we get behind each other and cheer each other on there is no way you can't lose something! To me even 1 lb is a LOSS! Think of a 6'2" REDNECK standing behind you getting ready to kick you in the butt each time you take a drag when you want to go smoke! (Yes, that is me!) You can and will quit smoking, I quit "cold turkey" Thanksgiving day 1999, so I know you can too!

Lory45 - Ok, First I have to say a big THANK YOU for your support of the military. I am getting ready to go over 18 years in the Navy, and to me your oldest is one of my Heroes. I volunteered to go over there to Iraq and the Navy told me no. Your youngest is in for the time of his life in the Air Force, they get to see some of the most beautiful places in the world. I have spent some time on AF bases and had a great time. Aviano Italy (an hour outside Venice) was beautiful and the natives were awesome. Sembach, Germany was also nice and the food was outstanding. (I am a sucker for some good Braut's and Saurekraut!) Your story sounds a lot like mine. Just remember one thing, the therapist can and will tell you what to do but if your body says "Don't do that!" then don't do it. Listen to your body! Keep the energy up and we will all do it together!
P.S. You are added to my friends list also!

Judikitty - Yes, another motivated member of OUR team! Fifty, that is just the start! You can and will lose ALL the weight you want. Just remember logging your food and excerise gives you something to look back at to see where you can tweek things that seem to work and to drop those things that seem not to work. Write everything down! It is tidious but it does work. Do reasearch on the net, ask questions here and to your doctor, learn as much as you can and it makes things much easier in the long run!

Unlimitedana - Try your best is all we can ask. I know you can lose all the weight you want. Do your research and learn everything you can. We are all here for you!

Healthmd - First, seeing the MD in your screen name is that because you work in the medial field? Well, you will get the buddies and the motivation here! You sound like you are doing great so far and will reach your goal! I know the feeling of being more fit! I love the high going to the gym gives you! The mood booster is why so many doctors prescribe going to the gym to their patients suffering from depression, I just wish more would take heed to the prescription! The holidays are always the hardest time of the year. The last BLC went through the holidays and I purposly did my weigh-ins on those days. I lost during Thanksgiving and stayed even through Christmas because I had the challenge in the back of my mind. We will do this!
P.S. You are on my friends list also!

Welcome to everyone and starting Monday....... IT'S ON!!!!!!

Hey everyone. Have enjoyed reading your interesting stories.

I'm a life long dieter. I lost 35 pounds on Adkins about 5 years ago and have put 10 of that back on but stillllllll need to lose 30 to get to my goal weight. Love these motivational challenges. Don't want to let you all down OR myself.

I'm retired and spend most of my time traveling which makes dieting difficult. I sit and watch as my husband has treat after treat and weighs in every week having lost weight or stayed the same. That's men for you. How I envy his metabolism. We're keen tennis players and rarely are anywhere with a car so we walk a lot and play tennis almost every day. Exercise isn't hard to get but it's the right sort of exercise that's lacking. I know I need to do more weight training and cardio work.

Good luck to all!

hi team green! nice to meet you all!  well PAPA we are here for another round. i was debating to sign up.... since i didnt do good last go around. i have hit that brick wall again.. so from CHRISTMAS to now i havent counted calories. i have been eatting whatever... well now i am on a rise so maybe to get back on track, i will go down. i have lost 39 - 43 lbs, since oct 07. now i am ready to get the rest off. i have 40 more to go.... but i will be fine with 30 more to go.....  i try to get on here once a day, but i have been trying not to get on the computer as much, cause when i do, i stay to long when i could be burning more calories.

well good luck team and let loose some fat!

oh my family and friends call me star.

Hey Papa,

You rock!  Thanks for getting us all together.  OK team Green... We can rock this out.  I am very proud to have won the BLC 8, and Lord knows I am not giving up now.  I have 12 pds to my goal.  But some days that little voice comes back in my head... oh your fine just be happy you got here!!  I want to get that voice out of my head and win!  Lets support each other, cry for each other, bitch at each other, and just be there.  WE ALL DESERVE THIS.  Go Team GREEN!

Eat and be lazy green team!! Dunkin Donuts has a great chocolate covered cream filled donut sale, ya should get some NOW, one wont hurt...mmmm... lol -----just a little sabotage from ur orange team opponent-hehe.

Seriously, Good Luck everyone! Starting now, hope we all are down a size or 2 and healthier by summer. We will all come out on top!

Okay, you said I could come here to ask questions.  If there is another place that maybe could better answer them, please let me know as I'm pretty new to this site.

My question:  Does anyone have one of the Weight Watchers scales that measures weight, body fat, body fat percentage, body water, and bone mass?  If so, can you give me any tips on it's operation?

I can't seem to get it to work right.  I get the weight but the body fat only reads about 4.5 pounds!!! (it should read MUCH more than that).  The body fat percentage reads about 42 which is probably pretty close, no problem there.  But I get an 'err' message for the body water and no BMI reading at all.  I've tried the tricks they give me in the brochure to no avail.  I thought I'd try again just after a shower in case the current needs more moisture to read properly.  I also thought I'd call the company or go to their website but since the scales are popular, I thought I'd check with you guys first.  It's a beautiful scales that seem to be accurate (at least they give me the same weight every time if I step on them several times at one check - unlike the ones I'm tossing out) but if they're broken, I guess I need to take them back.

Thanks for y'all's patience.

Oh, my!  Newbie here didn't expect this gentle suggestion of sabotage!  Pretty funny.  Hey, Greenies, doesn't that make you want to be even bigger losers?

Go, all teams, go!  If you need a jump-start, just go read some of the gross fast-food experiences on that thread in the lounge!

Hey guys! We can't be sabotaged, can we? Never! Bring it on orange team! and red and black and all the other colours of the rainbow. We're strong and determined! Let's all make a pact to make every weigh-in!

Augette - thanks for the note about quitting on my journal entry. Every time I get the craving I think about those of you who have quit. I've been a bit grumpy, but haven't turned to food in any way, so that's good. Look forward to getting to know you!

Papa, Thanks for the butt-kicking yesterday. Something about a big guy with big boots popped into my head when I considered going to visit some friends and bum a smoke! OUCH! And don't worry about me gaining while I quit. I am already down from first weigh-in!

nancster - I hear you! Some men have the metabolism of hummingbirds. It's frustrating! I workout in the garage while he eats chocolates and potato chips! Grrr! Ah well....everyone is different. You just gotta find out what works and stick to it. You're doing great! Keep it up!

And hello and welcome to all the green team! let's make this a great session!

YAY GREEN TEAM!

We will not be sabotaged!!!!  check it out.. my scale is on the move DOWN.. " "Woohoo" ~Does the Happy dance~Laughing

Hey Papa! MD are my initials, the second I posted my first post on CC I realized my alias was misleading, but I didn't know how to change it. And now I got used to it. But it's good to clear things up. Can't wait to go to the gym on Monday, you're right exercise does give a high, nothing like a good sweatin'!

Betzc, congratulations on winning BLC8, glad you're on our team! 12 lb to your goal, that's awesome, you're going to do it. We're all going to do this together!

So glad I joined this challenge and to have such great green mates!

Hey Ladies,

Nancster - I can let you know right now I am NOT that guy like you husband! I have to work my butt off in the gym! (I am 6'2", 274lbs and I am the RUNT of the family!) I also have about 30 lbs to goal weight! I am going to throw at you what has been thrown at me on these challenges "Do what you can do, and don't apologize for anything!"If you are doing your best then you best is all anyone can ask!

Wild - During the last challenge you ladies (on our other thread!) kinda got on to me for going to the gym right before and after the surgery. NO APOLOGIES! You did what you could do! Do your best and I think we will all be happy about it! Weather it's 1lb or 20lbs!

Betzc - Just so you know I am a SNIPER for those "little voices"! My wife has those too and I have to take them out back and stomp on them every once in a while! You said it all, WE ALL DESERVE THIS!

Judikitty - Your question about your scale, that one may be better as a single question to "Ask Mary" under the advice heading. I am familiar with some of WW but not the scale. You said it, the more they poke, the more I wanna lose!
P.S. You make it feel like home with your Y'all! (I am from Arkansas originally)

Lilygirl1970 - Sabotage, don't you mean motivation!!!!! I will be there for each of them! See it's already workin! That is a good thing, if it ever gets too bad, always have "smoke" sized carrot sticks or celery sticks on hand! They DO come in handy! If you heard me in the gym it would just help with the visualization of me coming at you when you think about the smokes! If I need a little extra when lifting I give out the low gut growl/scream! I have scared ladies in the gym before, I had the trainer tell me there was a women who said whe would not work out in the same room as me because of it. Oh well!

Lory45 - Congrats! on your losin', like I told Lily it's not sabotage it's motivation!!!! Helps Lory with Happy Dance (as long as it's two step!) and joins in with his own Lo-carb Monster Energy Drink!

Healthmd - Ok, Initials understood, had to ask! The one thing I always ask kids no days is "Why use drugs when you can get high on life?" That is the way I live my life! I get in trouble at the gym because I close all the windows, I LIKE TO SWEAT!!!!! It makes me feel like I have done somethin'. I have my ipod set up for songs to which workout I am doing it helps me! Aerobic, Techno/House music, I don't really like this style of music but at 140 beats per minutes it keeps me pumped up to keep going. Then when I hit the weights it is nothing but hard and heavy metal music, anything to get me angry! It get my adreniline pumping and I can lift a little heavier than without the metal. When I go to stretch it's nature sounds, celtic or classical. Love the gym!

"Get ready here we come!"

Later y'all
Papa

TODAY IS A NEW DAY, START A NEW JOURNEY, AND DO NOT ACCEPT FAILURE!

Papa

Het everyone! How're you all doing? Making some smart choices and staying active I hope! I'm off to a good start - down another half pound this morning and will be really active the next week or so since our furnace spewed soot through the whole house and everything need to be washed down. I've been at it and hour and a half and have only the ceiling in the furnace room done! Will be a long day. Make that a long week!!

Just wanted to say "Howdy" while I'm having lunch and hoping you all have a great day!

Lily
