Do you have gremlins [aka children]? My kids are eating my snacks....
Okay so today... I am under by 200 for today. Did not plan it that way though, just worked out. So by the time I got home I was starving. I had cereal w/ milk and 1/2 a banana for breakfast. Salad, and oranges for lunch. I planned to eat the other half of my banana and my 100 calorie pack for a late afternoon snack....so i would not be starving at dinner. Well... the gremlins... attacked. My son spilled his snack...so promptly ate mine [had no choice, we were in the doctor office waiting room, and 1 hour from home...nothing worse than a tired and hungry child.] Then while i was cleaning up the mess...my other child, ate my half of banana. Crazy gremlins. So....snackless I came home starving. I try and eat with them, and then save my ice cream [fat free], and cookies, reduced fat for after they go to bed. But, I always have little people around. My oldest 9.... begs me to put the 100 calorie snacks in her lunch. Go figure. It is crazy... they want to eat rice cakes!!! They have always liked fruits and veggies. But... this is ridiculous.
I am still trying to figure out how I am fat. Because I realize that even if my portions where off... they ate half my food anyway. lol.
Oh what a familiar story!!!!! My two eat alllllll of our "adult snacks" we have other (Healthy as well) snacks for them but they still always get to mine! And WHY does it have to be your favorite snack that you find the empty box INSIDE the cabinet innocently looking full of goodness and BAMMMM!---DENIED!!!!!!.........The little (I will steal and keep your word) GREMLINS!!!!!
I also feel the same: How did I get so big when I NEVER get to finish a meal?!?!?!

Are you sure you are not raising my kids?! LOL
Mine do the same things and how could you deny a child a salad?!?! THats like my two "mommy (add the sweet innocent chirp of a child) can I please have a snack you know like an orange?" How could you possibly say "NO YOU MAY NOT HAVE FRUIT!!!!"
Thats why I never take my kids to the store because the stuff they pick out is so healthy that I hate to say no because I know I am lucky that they like the stuff and I am afraid that saying no to them will make them not want to eat it anymore or lose the taste for it so I always relent and walk out of the store BROKE!!!!
You all have great eaters for kids! You should be happy - good job at raising them well!
My problem is - I eat THEIR food.
How many calories are in the crust of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?
Or the crust of a grilled cheese?
UGH! I can't help myself!
My little *angel* (lol) does that too. When I broke up with my boyfriend I was sooooo relieved because I'd be able to keep things in the fridge to enjoy later but he's now been replaced by all of the children in the neighborhood when it comes to eating me out of house and home!
I love that my daughter wants to share but c'mon guys! You can't seriously mean that all SIX apples are gone, right?! I just bought them yesterday!
I used to get annoyed too....
Now I just buy less of the "kid-crap" for them and keep more of the healthy stuff on hand. I figure if they want to eat it, and it's a better option for them too, I may as well just give in.
You know, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
I buy at least 2 pounds of bananas at a time (mind you we're only talking a family of 4 here), and that MIGHT last all week. Apples either in a 3 pound or 5 pound bag -- and of course we all prefer Fuji's. My daughter could live on grapes and peanut butter/jelly sandwiches... so there's always grapes. Every once in a while I'll pick up a box of South Beach high protein cereal bars or Special K bars (not the best in the west for you, but easy to keep in the car when you've forgotten to eat breakfast or need that snack because you're hungry NOW and it's that or McDonalds)... and of course they all want those too. So I just buy 2 at a time, but that means no poptarts. They never even notice. A huge pre-made salad in the fridge won't last long around them... so I just make sure there's enough for the whole family for a few days. They've had to switch to eating a lot of fish and lean meats with me, as well as whole grain breads, so I just let them come along for the other good stuff too. I mean, they are better choices then just *always* grabbing the bag of cheetohs or a cupcake. Hopefully they'll be able to maintain healthy eating habits through life, instead of having to learn it all when there's a problem to be fixed.
They also occassionally overtake my treadmill....
It's just going to be a whole new generation.
Sounds like they want to follow your good example. You are sharing healthy habits with them. I agree with what some others said, just buy more of your healthy snacks for the fam.
The younger the better, they can start life long healthy habits they can practice for life.
It sounds like we all have a food possession problem. What say you?
Could this be the same behavior that got us to be overweight in the first place? Staking a claim on our food and then devouring it (a lot of times, over a period of time). Regardless, once we've got our eye on it, we want it, and we'll do whatever it takes to have THAT food. That's why we get upset when someone robs it from us.
We should learn to be more flexible... and not to let our world revolve around food :-)
On the go andin the know.
