They have announced that they are courting three different people to replace Grissom.  The first is Laurence Fishburne, then John Malkovich, and Kurt Russell

Personally, I love Laurence Fishburne,  but his rolls are usually very intense and action based.   I don't think Kurt Russell is right.  It would turn it to much into an 80's b movie. I just can't see it.

But, John Malkovich is an interesting choice.  All of his characters are very thoughtful.  When he needs to be angry he can be explosive.  He seems a natural choice for a science based program.  But, it seems Laurence Fishburne is the first pick for the producers.

I would go with John.  What do Ya'll think?  Out of those three who would you pick and why?

I'm not feeling Larry or John for the roll of CSI patriarch. Just doesn't gel in my mind.

If I have to choose between those three, I'd have to go with Kurt. He could pull it off with the right pair of glasses and haircut.

I think they should transfer Gary Sinise from New York CSI to Las Vegas. That would be totally awesome!

Yeah but then who would replace him on New York CSI?

Hmm I'm not really sure on this one. Either way it's not gonna be the same without Grissom :(

Wow, so, if you cross over a John Malkovitch-replacement Grissom with the CSI New York, you could re-enact 'Of Mice And Men'!! HAHA!!

Seriously, if I didn't dislike CSI NY so much, I'd watch it just for Gary.

As for those three, I don't really think they'd be that good of choices -my personal opinion- but if I'd have to choose... hmmm...I'd go with John. I doubt Lawrence Fishburne or Kurt Russel would be willing to have a spot on TV for too long.

Yeah my husband and I both love Grissom.  I love CSI Miami but hubby wasn't that into it.  He hated CSI New York.  Ive only seen like two episodes.  But the connection to Mice and Men was cool.  I totally missed that LOL.

I can barely cope with the thought of CSI without Grissom let alone who will replace him.

Kinda of like the season finale... still can't believe that ending either!!!  Don't wanna spoil it in case someone's been under a rock and didn't see it.

Meh. I don't watch CSI: NY because the rest of the cast is so lame. I can barely stand Caruso's Superman poses on CSI: Miami.

How about Robert Deniro, Danny Devito, or Tony Danza to replace Sinise? Anybody whose last name begins with a D.

I can barely stand Caruso's Superman poses on CSI: Miami.

That's why I can't watch that one! He drives me crazy lol

in youtube search for Jim Carrey's imitation of Caruso...its hillarious..u can never watch CSI Miami after that without laughing out loud..

I never saw it as a superman pose.  My grandfather always stood like that when he was thinking.  Though I must admit that Caruso is a much better looking man than my grandfather.  But, still I love the character he plays and the way he stands takes nothing away from it for me.   Though I will be the first to admit that he would be easier to replace than Grissom will be.

See,  I could see replacing Caruso with Laurance.   I could easily see replacing the guy in CSI NY with Kurt.  Kurt does the whole new yorker thing so well.  And Laurance does the intellegent gun slinger very well.   But, Grissom is neither of those.  Hes to smart for that.   Which brings me back to John.  Sensitive, but intellegent, quirky and occasionally annoying, but not so bad you can't easily over look the quirkiness.  Thats Grissom to a T.  I know he will be missed, but if he does stick around as a producer then there will still be enough of Grissom in the show that John could step in without there being much of a glitch.

But, then again, I kind of stopped watching.  I do still watch but I have to leave the room to keep from screaming.  Ever since they promoted Echelly (sp)  I have had serious issues watching it when he comes on screen.  Hes beyond annoying.  That conflict for me nearly killed the show.

So I guess really who they pick all depends on if they want that conflict to continue.  It would be easy to keep it going with  Kurt or Laurance.  They could probably still do it with John.  But, if John is so naturally soft spoken,  it wouldn't be as believable.

i prefer the dick wolf franchise to the Jerry Bruckeimer ones...have u seen Cold case...ohmygod...everyone overacts..

Wow!!  This is REALLY going to save me some time during the week!  With this many cast members gone, I can just stop watching the Vegas CSI completely.  Sorry, but I think they will have gone too far at this point and I'll chalk that up as an hour in which I can do other things.  However, Miami (now that the stupid medical examiner is gone) and New Yahk are still ON!!

I love CSI!

Miami - I can't stand Caruso, the overacting, the poses, the sunglasses, the ridiculous statements he makes, everything.  I was so happy they got rid of the medical examiner, sometimes I think she tried to top Caruso in the ridiculous department.  I like Callie, I love Frank Tripp - he is such a no nonsense kind of guy, the rest of the cast I could take them or leave them.

NY - I love them all!

Vegas - I am so happy that got rid of Sara, her whininess used to irrate me to no end.  I LOVE all the other characters.  I am really going to miss Grissom, but I am witholding judgment on his replacement because there can never be another Grissom.  He is such a unique character, the only way for the show to survive is to bring in someone completely different and start fresh.

Just my 2 cents. Smile

I don't need to see Jim Carrey's impression of David Caruso to laugh at CSI Miami. Although I will miss the med examiner petting the dead and cooing in their ear. lol.

Aw man! I have to wait until I get home to see Jim Carrey's Caruso impression because youtube is blocked at work.

How do I phrase this so it makes sense? My test for outstanding acting is when I forget that I'm watching an actor act.  There is/was a subtle deepness in William Peterson's portrayal of Grissom.  Peterson has succeeded in molding a character.  When Peterson leaves the show, the mold will be broken and the character of Grissom will not simply be replaced with another actor attempting to play the character of Grissom.  But even though a main character is leaving, I think the show can survive if an entirely different and unique character is brought in.  I really don't expect someone else to be just like Grissom, but I could see someone like Dennis Hopper or Sam Elliott taking over the CSI position vacated by Grissom, with either of them bringing their own unique personality to the role of "whatever his name will be" (assuming of course that the new lab geek in town will be a male).  Of the three choices in the OP, I still vote for Kurt as someone who would not try to fit into the Grissom mold.

I watched one show of Cold Case and was immediately turned off; same with Missing Persons.  I used to watch Criminal Minds, but somewhere along the way, they lost track.  NCIS is still pretty good, but if Mark Harmon leaves, then forgedaboudit.  I love Monk and Psych on USA. But, hey, I still watch reruns of Murder, She Wrote, so what do I know?

I think that oh, Paul Sorvino would be a good replacement. Or maybe the woman in the Bourne Identity movies, the blonde one who is in the new movie with Jason Statham. What is her name??

OOOHHH Sam Elliot! Yes, I agree! I just finished watching "The Shadow Riders" and he was very good in it. How about Ed Harris?

what!?! this is the first i've heard about them replacing grissom. i can't imagine CSI without him. it won't be the same show!

hmmm... i'll have to think about whether i can imagine any of these people in his place, after the shock wears off!

hah, my husband like to call "Cold Case" "Cold Turd"!! oops, i don't know if that word is allowed! he can't stand that show. it's one of the hokiest shows on tv, but it's ok every now and again.

yeah, the Law & Order group of shows is really good. though, i really did love CSI Las Vegas, but as others mentioned, there have been so many cast changes, it's hardly the same show.

I think the TNT shows "The closer" and "Saving Grace" are amazing...i am waiting for all the cliffhangers to resolve on criminal minds and NCIS...and will Bones finalllyyy date Booth?

U guessed it...i love crime dramas!

I have watched CSI: Las Vegas from the begining and always watch the re-runs on Spike. I know, no life.  I love all of them but Sarah and am glad she left.  I don't think they can truely replace Grissom, as Grissom.  They will just have to be their own character and not try to be anything like him.  That will stir the pot in the lab.

I enjoy CSI: NY too but dont get to watch it very often.  Everything about CSI: Miami annoys me.  I don't care if it was the last thing on tv, I would rather pick my nose for eternity.
