I'm about to start a weight gain diet next week, so I'll be going grocery shopping this weekend. I'm having a tad bit of trouble compiling a list of food...I need help/suggestions on what I should get at the grocery store. Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

here are some essentials but look at the weight gain food list in the weight gain thread.

1. nuts--all kinds

2. peanut butter--natural is best--great in oatmeal, with apples, on sandwiches

3. trail mix--great for snack

4. granola--great as a snack, on yogurt, in cereal

5. regular milk

6. regular yogurt

7. regular whole grain bread with at least 100 cals per slice

8. olive oil

9. starchy veggies--corn, potatoes, peas

10. cheese

11. regular cottage cheese

12. dark chocolate--as dessert, a snack, or melted with fruit

13. regular ice cream--for dessert

14. fruit--mangoes, bananas, and pineapples are great. avoid melons and fruits with high water content

More ideas -

Milk - at least 2%, but whole if you can manage it. If you prefer soy, check out the nutrition label - it varies a lot, and higher calorie ones will make it easier for you.

Fruit juice.

Dried fruit

Bars (if you like them) - granola bars, energy bars, protein bars, etc., for easy portable snacks

Full-fat salad dressing

Honey, jam, etc.

and definitely nuts of any kind (almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, macadamias, pecans. . . ) and seeds (sesame, pumpkin, sunflower. . .)

 

 

Great ideas, but why just next week?

oatmeal, weetabix, branflakes

mil eggs cheese

chicken fish turkey mince beef

potatoes for mash new and jacket

vegetable and salads of your chose all though dont make this the bulk of yor meal

bread, crumpets, bagels , baps pitta bread

homous couscous

pasta, rice , noodles

biscuits, cereal bars , nuts , dried fruit

yogurts rice pudding jam butter

baked bean tinned tuna sardines

go for anything you fancy
