Gross "d" word question...

Quote  |  Reply

Okay, a sudden and ongoing d-word situation arose today.  I was in the bathroom every 10 minutes.  It's slowed now and I don't feel sick at all, should I scrap the day and not count still or what?  I'm having a grilled chix sandwich for dinner to replenish lost nutrients, any other ideas?  Sorry about the grossness of this topic.

Make sure you drink lots of water.  And take some imodium - that will stop it.

I would just try to eat as normally as possible calorie wise, but take care of yourself.  I hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks guys, dinner is still to be determined.  I decided to keep counting.  Thanks again, yes, lots of h2O :)

My mother always said that if you have tummy troubles, you should stick to clear liquids for 12-24 hours to make sure that they've settled down - otherwise you might just perpetuate the problem. Of course that doesn't apply if you know it was from lactose-intolerance or some other self-limiting cause, like stress... so have something very light for dinner, like chicken soup and toast.

i've had the 'd' thing for the past 3 days (it's gone today. i'm keeping my fingers crossed).  don't eat fruits, try to avoid dairy products, cook your veges if you're eating them in semi-large portions cause eating them raw puts extra strain on your tummy.

A sandwich is good, though i'm not sure about the grilled chicken... it'll probably be fine as long as it's not too fatty. try to eat more dry, non-sugary substances, like grains, bread, plain crackers etc.

I totally agree. I'm studying nutrition, and when someone has the d-word, they should stick to clear liquids for at least one meal. Also, avoid milk products until your stomach is settled. Even if you aren't lactose intolerant, dairy can be irritating to the digestive tract.

There's something called the BRAT diet too - Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. This should be done until the problem subsides. If it lasts longer than a day or so, I'd go to the doctor. But otherwise, this should help.

Best of luck, and I hope you feel better!

i totally agree if i ever feel the "D"s coming on its straight to water for me. and Immoduim maybe once that stuff is not natural.

That BRAT thing works iv never done it but thats what i do when my kids get sick.

You will pull through Laughing
