93/7 Ground Turkey vs Ground Beef

Quote  |  Reply

I was going to buy the 93/7 ground turkey last night but realized I could get 93/7 ground beef for the same price. What is the difference? Which is best?

Caloriewise they should be about the same.  Perhaps the turkey would have less cholesterol, but not by much.  If they are the same price, I would go with whichever one I perfered by taste.

If they're the same fat percentage, then there isn't any difference in calories between them. The ground beef has more iron but aside from that it's entirely a matter of personal preference.

Since I am pretty sure that meat is NOT GRASS-FED, I would stick with the turkey. The little fat that the beef does have is saturated & yucky because it was CORN FED, now if it were GRASS-FED & GRASS-FINISH then I would definitely say: BEEF - but a lot of grocery stores have yet to pick up on this healthy trend! Stick to the ground turkey until you can find this kind of beef... What I like to do with ground turkey is mix in some minced sun-dried tomatoes, olives, capers, spinach & basil! MM MM Mm!

i've always heard that it takes your body a longer time to digest beef...i dunno??

I would prefer the beef myself. The one i get at Wal-Mart is 96/4 and only has 130 cals for 4 oz. The ground turkey has more fat and is more calories, plus its gross lol.

You really need to look at the nutrition labels and compare them.
