GROUP CLOSED (sorry) Small Female Group, ladies between 25-35, looking to lose b/t 50-100 lbs - DAY 1, MONDAY JULY 14!
Hello calorie counters. I am looking to start a small group of approximately 10 ladies to join me on a weight loss journey! In order to keep us all accountable and really involved in discussion and motivating each other I would like to keep the group small and made up of ladies of similar ages, with similar goals. So, if you are between 25 and 35 and have 50-100 pounds to lose and like the sound of the set-up below please let me know and I will add you to the list.
I have approximately 50 pounds to lose and I don't know about you but that seems like the biggest number I have ever heard not to mention completely overwhelming! BB (before baby) I had great success with Weight Watchers and loved some the guidelines they used...so I thought we could the use some of their ideas for our group!
1. Our group will focus on short term goals! We will start by focusing on losing 10% of our body weight...get ready I am going to put "my number" out there...190 x 10% = 19 pounds, this would be my first goal. Breaking down our goals into short term/smaller goals will make them feel more achievable and keep us positive! We will work to loose .5-2.0 pounds per week towards our goals. We will work in 12 week "sessions". If you want to set additional personal goals beyond the group goals please share them with the group, 1) they may give someone else an idea and 2) we will be better able to support you knowing your personal goals!
2. Our group will have a weekly weigh-in. Each Monday you will weigh-in and update the group on your new weight...here comes the accountability part ladies! I would suggest you try to weigh at the same time each Monday. Please remember when you are working out and building muscle the scale may not always budge as much as you want so on to #3…
3. Our group will have a monthly measure-off. At the end of 4 weeks you will measure all the inches that have dropped “off” and update the group! Each group member will need to take your measurements on Monday to ensure an accurate monthly update at the end of the first 4 weeks. The measurements will help keep you positive as you gain muscle and tone-up (even if the scale is not showing your success your measurements will!)
4. Our group will have three weekly goals to focus on...the first will be related to food (example - no sugar drinks this week), the 2nd will be related to exercise (work-out 3 days this week) and the 3rd will be related to mental health (make a list of 5 reasons you want to loose weight). You will also update the group on how you did with each goal.
I am looking for supportive and determined women who are ready for this change but need the nudge of a CCP friend! We will help each other grow (or should I say shrink) into the women we want to become through better life style choices.
If this structure sounds appealing to you and you are ready to lose the weight and are ready for open and honest weekly and monthly check-ins (with non-judgmental) friends...please let me know and we will start our first 12 week session on Monday, July 14!
I would love to join this group. I am 31 and currently 96 Kilos, that is 211 pounds. My start weight was 234 so I have already lost some but I need to lose a lot more. When I first started on CC I joined a group but it was large and I didn't feel I made any real "friends", I felt invisible and dropped out. I would like to be part of a smaller group with the same goals where I really get to know the other group members.
Hi, I am new here and I would love to join your group.
I am 34 years old and currently 111kg or 244.5lbs. I am looking to start with a 50lbs weight loss ... I do need to lose more, but 50lbs for now will make me extremely happy...and it sounds more do-able than 80-90lbs!!
**edit**
Oh, I forgot that you said we will do a first goal of 10% of our weight!!! so my first goal is to lose 24.45lbs!!
Hi there. My name is Lisa and I just started CC on Monday. I'm 34, 5'3 and I weigh 225.
I like the idea of a small group where you can't get lost in the masses. I'd love to join!
As for my goal weight, I've lost about 25 lbs before, *a couple of times actually* and then I get into this mindset that I'm under 200 so I'm totally fine. Thats when I gain it back. So my thought is this time I have to set my goal a little bit bigger so I don't back off when I've lost a little bit... hope that makes sense as I tend to ramble... A LOT!!
Anyway, count me in please.
Take care,
Lisa
This is a great idea. As another member said, I have looked into the larger groups and found them totally intimidating and some even dating back a few years so impossible to follow. I am interested in joining a group in the here and now. I already do many of the things that you mentioned already so it seems like my cup of tea. I started CC in March at 241 lbs with a goal of losing 91 lbs and I am 30 years old and 5'6" with a large body frame (that is when I put my thumb and middle fingers around my wrist, they don't touch). I hope that you will consider me for your group.
Current age: 30 yrs
Height: 5'6"
Current weight: 209 lbs
Goal weight: 150 lbs (59 lbs to go)
P.S. Maybe this will help. I found a book that advised you to take the amount of weight you want to lose and divide it by two. That is how many weeks it will take you to meet your goals at approx. 2 lbs loss per week. Then you divide that number by 4 to get four distinct goal dates. For example, my goal is approx 60 lb so 30 wks from now. Divide that by 4 is approx. 7. So every 7 wks, I have a goal date.) To get the approx. goal weight for each date, just divide your goal by 4. Mine is 15 lbs. Each goal date, I hope to have lost another 15 lbs to eventually get to my goal weight. This gives you a fair and easy to see date in the future when you may reach your goal. Mine says that on or around February 7th, I will meet my goal at my current pace. Just a thought. I know it sounds confusing on here but if you go step by step, it is really not hard at all to get your goals on paper.
Hey, I like this idea :) very keen to join in.
I'm 5'9'' 26 yo
80kg or 176 pounds. Goal weight is around 65kg, unsure of whether this is achieveable being tall with a large frame.
10% body weight - 17.6 pounds
Unsure of current stats 37 - 32 - 39ish is usually what they are.
I would like to join. I like the idea of a small group, too. I am determined to get to my goal and it would be nice to have some buddies for what could be a long process. My stats are similar to the rest of the group, but I'm a young 36. :) I could relate to some other things in your bio, elaughter. I'm from an overweight family, with lots of weight-related health issues. I've never been 'small', but was pretty much the smallest in the family and acceptable to myself. Until about 14 months ago, the most I had ever weighed was 175. I knew I had put on some weight, tight clothes, etc., but I avoided the scales. I was stunned when I went to the doctor a few months ago and they had to move the big chunky weight on the scales to 200, and then the little one didn't stop until it got to 25!
It took a little while to mentally process the change and realize where I was, but I have finally started to do something about it. I have had a good start, down about 15lbs. I will weigh in Mon. morning for my exact current weight for the start of the group, but I should have about 50lbs to go to get to an acceptable weight for myself (160), 65lbs to get to 145 if I can endure it! (I'm 5'7")
So can I join?
Okay here is my Monday stats:
weight 110.2 kg or 443lbs
measurements:
Bust- 48.75"
Waist- 47.5"
Hips-51"
First weigh-in, I am very excited.
Current stats are 94.7 Kilos or 209 pounds
I had to find a tapemeasure, finally remembered my mother gave me a sewingbox many years ago that had one in it. First time I opened that!
Bust: 43 inches
Waist: 38 inches
hips: 48 inches
This week I am going to try not to eat any cookies or chocolate, I have been working them in my cal. allowance but I should eat something healthier and more filling. I don't keep any "bad food" in my appartment but I work as a nanny/housekeeper and there are plenty of tempting sweets available all day. Most of which I prepare. I have been extra motivated because I am going on vacation in Aug. and am meeting some friends I haven't seen in over a year and really want them to notice I lost weight. (vain, I know)
I look forward to reading everyone else's posts! Have a nice day.
I have a question...when measuring the bust, is it supposed the be the full bust or the underbust we measure?
I measured the fullest part of my bust, same as for a bra fitting. Where do you live desertbreeze? I'm guessing Australia. I live in Italy.
G'day all!
I'd love to join this group for motivation. I've been a calorie count member since January and have lost 25lb so far, leaving about 40 to go. It's been slow and steady going - which was always the plan - as I want this to be a permanent, maintainable lifestyle change. I've found that I average a pound a week but this isn't a consistent figure - I go for weeks on a plateau, then lose 4 pound in a single week! We all lose weight differently but it'll be great to be supported by a group with similar goals.
I live in Australia
, am 33 and married with 3 children. I am a teaching principal in a small primary (elementary) school and love the sedentary life! Gettting active is a challenge! The biggest thrill was recently dropping below 200lb and then below 90kg. Another thrill was getting to move out of the "big girls" section in the clothing store and into size 16...
I am 5'7" and began at 220 pound (100 kilograms in my language!) and am now at 195lb (88kg). I haven't checked my body measurements for a long time - I promised a friend that we would measure ourselves together at the end of July, so I'll hold off till then! When I started in January, these were my stats -
arm - 42cm = 16.5"..........bust - 115cm = 45".....chest - 97 cm = 38"
waist - 108 cm = 42.5".....hips - 124cm = 49".....thigh - 70cm = 27.6"
calf - 43 cm = 17"
GOAL
- food - have at least 6 full plates of vegetables/salad this week.
GOAL
- exercise - walk 3 times this week plus go for a swim.
GOAL
- mental - be patient and acknowledge the journey - this week, write a journal about how I percieved/percieve/imagine my health, fitness, body and self-esteem at different stages in this journey ie. "back then", "now" and "goal".
10% of my current weight is 19.5 lb. I am determined that I will have lost 22lb by New Years - so hopefully this forum will keep me motivated and help me to go even further.
Hello ladies! Wow, great responses! I am very excited to have each of you as members of this group! Today is the first day of our Fresh Start! I will start a new thread each week and send each of you ladies an email to start things off each Monday with the group's weekly goals and a place for everyone to fill in their stats.
This week I will cut and paste your information into the new thread so that you do not have to re-enter it. I think by starting a new thread each week it will keep things a little cleaner (have you seen those threads with like 2000 replies that have been going on forever...talk about a mess!).
Good luck to everyone! Here we go...
Good idea about the fresh thread. So, what'll we call the group? Fresh?
If you still have room in your group, I'd love to join! I have about 50 lbs to lose also, I'm currently about 177. I joined this site almost a year ago, but I've had trouble staying motivated and I think a small group would be perfect for me!
Thanks for organizing us, elaughter! Looks like the group is all over the world. How cool!
My official start weight for group purposes is 207, so my first goal is 20.7. At 2 lbs/wk, maybe I can get there by the end of our first session and back into the winter clothes I already own by the time it gets cold. That's a good goal. Yay!
I'll measure and figure out how to add you all as friends tonight after work.
Sorry ladies but I have run into a road block (or maybe just a speed-bump)...I can only send 2 "emails" per day...so I am not sure how to send the link to the new thread to each person in the group, but here it is...
http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/106 650.html
I will try to have all the bugs worked out by next week so that next Monday runs smoother!
eerominn - we would love to have you! Please go to the link above and add your stats!
jella - you read my mind! I named the group "Fresh Start"...great minds think alike!
2babetterb - I too am working towards my new "old" winter clothes - how nice it will be to have new clothes for free (as they have been in my closet for 3 years just waiting on me)!
Is there still room for one more?
I'm 27 and would like to lose about 70 lbs.
Could we make this a group of 20! I'm 28, 60 pounds more to lose
On the go andin the know.
