I would love to lose 10 or more pounds for my birthday in July!!

I'm in!

Age: 23

Height: 5'9

Weight: 190

GW: 150

I need motivation and good advice! I have been eating between 1400-1600 calories per day and working out 5 days week. Workouts include 30 minutes of cardio and weight training for 15 minutes for three days a week. I have been doing this for three weeks but I haven't lost any weight!

I'll join! although I have to admit I might forget about this forum.  I'll tag it so it'll help me remember to post.

Age: 22
Height: 5'8 or 5'9
Weight: 148

Goal for July: 138

Strategy...

Stick to my calorie range (1550 a day now...but I'm trying the whole zig zagging thing to keep my body guessing) and exercise 4x a week (3 on a bad week) = 35-45 mins of cardio and 30 minutes 3-4x a week of weight training. Also for me...drink TONS of water and for the most part avoiding soda.  Avoiding alcohol would be ideal as well, but I know thats not going to happen, especially with my camping trip coming up (memorial day weekend)...also...a weeee bit stressed since I have my LSAT (take 2) coming up in 4 weeks...and I'm a stress/emotional eater...ahhh!

yay for support groups!

you're probably gaining muscle weight clydesmom. are you drinking enough water? is your cardio intense enough (ie making you sweat and get a little tired)?

Hi, I am brand new. I have been reading for a few days, and just decided to join because of this group so thanks! :)

I am 40, and have been trying to loose weight since Oct. It has been slow. I was 138 when this picture was taken last April and now I am 124, and trying to get to my old weight of 115. I am going on a sailing trip in the BVI's July 4th and I really want to get into a bikini and not feel self conscious. These last 9 pounds have been so hard to loose. I have been at this weight for weeks. I need the support!

When is weight in? and I think my scale sucks, one minute I am 125, then I get on again, 124, then 126. Any suggestions on a good scale?

goal weight by July 4th:155(10 pd lost)

I mantained what i thought was my ideal weight (as did my husband, friends and family)of 140-145 pds for about 12 years by exercising almost daily for between 45-60 minutes..I didn't count calories but always tried to eat healthy.I was the one who ordered the grilled chicken sandwich on whole wheat with no mayo when everyone else at the table had the burger and fries>So nothing drastic or super restricting.I also have always enjoyed the occasional cold, cold beer or crisp glass of pinot grigio-spice of life right?

But then 2 years ago I was in a major accident that I ended up in the hospital for awhile. Then spent the next 2 years in a wheelchair, then crutches, then a cain. Then had to have a 2nd operation on my hip because first one- done in Mexico was done incorrectly(don't ask).

So here I am,able to walk again without a limp. Finally got the go ahead from my orthopedic dr. to start exercising again -no running though-this past month.I feel I have a long journey ahead of me and could use all the support I can get.I feel as if this is someone else's body.Out of shape,no muscle tone, not comfortable in my own skin.I was always the "in shape" girl.I was proud of my body. Now I feel as though it is a stranger or alien.O.K. Enough of the pity party-I'm ready-and I hope I can be of help and motivation to others out there feeling like I do.Let's do this TOGETHER!!!  bEST WISHES TO ALL!!!
