So, Today I feel pretty good. I have been working out since Jan. and there were some weeks I only went 1x some times I missed and sometimes I went 4. But I went shopping last night and even though I am retaining water weight I feel like my body is becoming toned. My Cellulite has diminished about 50% from where I was in Jan. and I am starting to see my collar bone (kinda). I definitely feel that my mussels are firmer.
My question is... If we are working out and building mussel, then how does the weight go down? I know I have lost weight but the scale doesn't really reflect that very much. Can it be mussel that is making the scale read about the same each week? I just measured my inches last week, as well as my fat% so I can use that to go by. Anyone know the ratio of mussel verse fat?
Why am I obsessed with what a scale says?Why can't I just go from how I feel? doesn't work that way.
Hello, I go through the same thing. I am starting to get more discouraged. My scale has been going between 160-162 for forever now. I want to get down to atleast 150..BUT..this morning I tried on a "little number" that my boyfriend had gotten for me about a year and a half ago. It looked WAY better. My problem area is my stomach under my belly button..But I have lost and inch here 5 inches there. I hate the scale too but I get on it every morning...But when you put something on jeans, dresses, what ever that you have not worn in a while or ever. You feel great..That should be enough???????
Kay ladies...hopefully this info helps a bit, cause I know it helps me when I'm working out like crazy and that scale isn't budging!
1) Muscle literally weighs 2x the amount of fat, so if you lose a pound of fat in a week, and your scale doesn't budge, it could be because your replaced that fat with muscle, which would actually be 2lb...so your weight could not change at all, or you might even see a slight gain! BUT...
2) For every 3lb of muscle you gain, your body burns an extra 100 calories per day! woooo...so there is some advantage there!
PLUS...muscle looks waaaay hotter than fat...lol
I don't know the "ratio" that you're looking for though adage, sorry :/
By the way...does anyone else find shopping for a new swim suit entirely depressing? Be back in the morning for weigh in...oh joy
thanks johgar, that does help. and it makes sense why I am looking better but my scale isn't moving.
I have that extra flub under the belly button to, HARD area to work. Yesterday I went to the gym, and after my class I did an additional 25minutes of cardio I feel really good about that because usually i'm out right after class:) I think the key is really pushing past what your use to doing and with a combination of cycling calories & eating good choices you may just make it over that plateau. I tell you how it goes, cause I need to get over that 144 hump badly.

Weighed in at 118 today! That's a pound down from starting XD (I've been 119 all week, so s'about time! Ah... oops. Did I get impatient... again?)
Now for today, Saturday (neither much of a problem), Sunday carry-in lunch (bit more of a problem, a lot of people in our congregations are really good cooks!), and Monday... birthday time XD Oh dear...
I am so with you. I still didn't get a new scale, but.... when I joined this group the scale said 124. All week I was 126, then 125 and today it says I am 124 again.
BUT- I feel like I am staring to see curves and my mussels looked toned. I really don't care what the scale says today. I know I am starting to see improvements!!! That is what really matters. (i'm still going to buy a new scale though.)

Thanks for the info Johgar and Adge1967. I do believe that measuring is a better way to tell how you are doing..My scale was nice to me this morning and i am going to try not to get on it so much..I do need a new one to. Mine is a HealthOmeter (dial) Adge1967 if you find a good one that is not crazy expensive please let me know..

I've got that flub under my belly button too. I call it my "inner tube", it's just like I have a ring of fat around my belly!! I'm getting slightly frustrated because I've been hitting a wall with weight loss the last couple months. I've been staying between 160-162. ARGH!!!!
I'm going to try bringing down my calorie intake and shifting my work outs into overdrive!!!
Anything that has worked for other people for getting off the plateau would be most helpful!!

I finally lost weight this week! Thursday I was down to 186 but 187 will do just fine! I have upped my water intake this week which I think has really helped. not only have I been able to lose some of the weight but it also curbs my appetite!

I splurged today and ate junk food cause I was craving it, so whatever lol, I know I won't gain it back, cause it was alot of dairy (I'm severely lactose intolerant, and no, lactaid doesn't do anything for me)
