Strategy: I regained some weight after taking time off to finish up grad school and start a new job. I'm tired of it and ready to start again! I'm going to stick to the strategy that helped me lose 45 lbs last year:
I will eat 1500 calories a day and exercise 4-6 times per week. My exercise routine will include 30-45 minutes of cardio and 20-30 minutes of strength training. I will have one day a week where I will count calories but won't worry about going over my calorie limit. I've found in the past that this really helps my body in that I don't feel like I'm constantly depriving myself of food that I like and/or want. Good luck everyone!
I want to join, too!

I don't really know how many calories I eat every day exactly... when I do fill in the food log, it ends up being somewhere between 1400 and 1500. I work out 3-4 times a week, consisting of 30 minutes of cardio and 20 of strength. I also take a pilates class on Monday. My biggest problem is really just eating too many carbs. Also, I think my weight may have stabilized at around 125, is that possible?
In any case, good luck to everyone!

GW110-107? (I want less fat and more muscle)
I lost my first five pounds, and am finding it terribly difficult to loose the last 5-8.
I've been stuck at 115 for about a month now. What I really want to do is loose mostly fat and then gain a bit of muscle and strength in my upper body.
Weigh in time!!!
SW (as of 6/16/08): 129lbs

Today I weighed myself and to my dismay I'm still the same: 132. It's particularly annoying because I weighed myself on Wednesday -- 1 week after starting this program -- and I was down to 128! I may have slacked off a little bit (eating indulgent restaurant dinners Wednesday and Thursday), but still....it's certainly discouraging, especially since I've been at 132 for something like 3 years now. It seems that no matter what I do, my body has somehow adjusted to this weight and isn't going to budge :( However, I'm just going to try harder to eat fewer calories and exercise. I'm determined to break through this very longlasting plateau, somehow.

I have been going to the gym 5x per week usually working out on the elliptical for 30 minutes. I've recently started sprinting on the treadmill for 40 minutes and have noticed MAJOR fast results. I also do a little weight training and have been watching what I eat....
For me its easier to eat similarly each day to maintain the calories....
coffee and kashi cereal with skim milk and blueberries in the am
almonds as a snack
salad or turkey and american cheese on a spinach wrap for lunch
light yogurt with bear naked granola snack
chicken or fish with veggies - dinner

Labor day goal (although this may not be attainnable): 123
Height: 5'4"
I am excited to see the number on the scale this morning. I may have quoted my starting weight a little on the high side which would account for the 3 pound difference. I've been looking forward to the 'weigh in' today. Congrats to everyone for being a part of this!
Weigh in #1:
Started this group at 208.5
CW: 206.76.
Labor Day Goal: 200-196.
Lost 1.74lbs.
I'm partly afraid that the weight loss is part water-weight, as I had a rather rough day yesterday, only ate when I got to work, and probably only consumed 1300 calories at the most, 1000 calories more than likely, while getting little water. We'll see what happens next week. I weighed even less yesterday (206.1), so at least I know I had "gained" some of the water weight I lost back.

Great to be on the road, motivated, and working toward this goal with all of you. I guess I obsess about my weight all of the time so I might as well obsess about writing everything down, keeping on track with exercise, and getting some results.
missed Friday's weigh in but this morning i'm at 184.8 so i'm getting back on track happily...
I guess I am the first one in this week....

Little bit of a disappointing climb back up the scale, but I am on my cycle, so I'll chalk it up to that. I did slack off a bit this past week.

Lost 1.5 pounds this week. YA HOO!!!! I'm right on track. NOW NO PLATEAU, PLEEEEEZ! Since I still have 30 pounds to go, I should be OK for a while longer before the dreaded inevitable plateau comes and saps my resolve completely. You'll hear me howling from the roof tops.
Hi everyone
Hope its OK to join in now...

I thought I was around 150-153 but when I went to the gym last week and got on the scale, it was up to 156 :( so figured it's time to really start doing something about it.
I'm not really counting callories. I like this site b/c it really motives me and I can look up the cals on all foods that I eat and see whats good and whats not. I'm just watching what I eat and if I had to guess, eating between 1400-1700 / day. My plan is go to the gym 4-5 times a week and do 1 hr of cardio (elyptical/treadmill) and 30-45 mins of strength training. One day uppper body, one day lower body and everyday abs.
Just a though for encouragment.... a few years back I gained 10lbs over the summmer by eating A LOT of junk food. I was up to 160 (10 lb more than my standard weight). I got on a diet and went to the gym 5 days a week for 2hrs and lost 20 lbs!!!! The first 10 went within the first month. It was easier to loose that weight b/c i just gained it and the other 10 took me a while. I wasnt really looking to loose the weight anymore, just to get into shape so the ending result was GREAT!!!
So now, I'm back to my original weight :(:(:(:( and want to loose loose it again.
Weigh in #3
Starting weight (group) 208.5
Last week's weight: 205.84
Today's weight: 205.28
Lost: .56lbs
Down a total of 3.22lbs since the start of the group. =) I'm a little surprised that my weight is lower than last week's, as it seems I have hit a slight plateau. I'm still waiting it out, though. I'm getting much closer to 204, and once I see that, I know I'll be back on track.
